I really liked the prompt for Blogtember today; the top five pictures that illustrate your year so far. I am going to go ahead and say that 2016 might be our biggest, most exciting year yet!!! And that says a lot because 2012 was pretty big too. In 2012 Chris and I both bought new cars, bought a new house, got married and both changed jobs all within the last six months of the year! But 2016? Well, can anything beat this?
We found out that we were going to become a family of three on Tuesday, March 22!!!
We had a wonderful time at the beach over the 4th.
I got a new car this summer!
We found out that we are having a girl!!
I had to say goodbye to a best friend. RIP Gracie.
What pictures would you chose to sum up 2016 so far?
Linking up with Kristen and Gretch with what’s new with me, currently style. Also giving a little update as I close in on my third and final stretch of pregnancy! I have one week left in my second trimester. Crazy, right? Anyways, let’s get to it!
Reading: Results May Vary This is an interesting read so far. When I read the premise, I thought maybe it would be a little like the show Grace and Frankie that I really enjoy.
Listening: Fangirl on audio book. This has been on my TBR ever since I read Attachments. I adored Attachments so much, and while this is a decent listen so far, I don’t love it as much.
Watching: I have mentioned before that we have been binging on One Tree Hill. Laugh if you want, but this show is awesome. Also, I really just love Sophia Bush!
We have also been keeping up with Pretty Little Liars all summer. We still need to watch the last two episodes though, so no spoilers! I am sure it is crazy as the rest of the season has been! I heard that last year will be the end of it all. Can’t wait to see how it all goes down.
Planning: A few weeks ago, my china cabinet finally made it’s way in to our kitchen. I have a few things in there, but I hope to really re-organize the entire kitchen in the next month or so. I want to make space for a baby cabinet in the main area for bottles and what not and then I just want everything else better organized now that we have more storage. And don’t get me started on the pantry!
We also need to clean out our garage. There is some stuff in there that we will never use and it just takes up space. Thankfully we aren’t those people who have an entire garage packed full of shit. We do keep our cars in there so it isn’t that bad. But still! And I need to paint the nursery, organize the other spare room, probably purge more things. Basically I am in full blown nesting mode. Cant stop. Wont stop.
Pinning: All kinds of things! Baby stuff, hair cuts/colors, kitchen organization, food, funnies.
Pregnancy: As I mentioned, tomorrow I will hit week 27 of my pregnancy, my last of the second trimester!!! It is seriously crazy how fast this time is going. I swear I just took the test yesterday and now my belly is large and in charge and baby girl is in there just bopping around. She totally gets bored when I sit at work all day, and she let’s me know it. I have been experiencing some pretty intense hip pain and my lower back will hurt from time to time. Last week I discovered that I will be one of the “lucky ones” who gets to experience Braxton Hicks for the remainder of my pregnancy. Fun times. I guess I will be all practiced up for the big event.
I share weekly bumpdates on Mommy Babbles if you are interested in all the details. I usually post them on Fridays, which means the posts are a week behind where I actually am.
Excited: For football season to start on Saturday!!! And the three day weekend. I wish every weekend was a three day weekend. Also, I am getting my hair cut tonight, so that is always fun!
Sometimes during the work week I get in to a real rut. It’s the same routine every day. Don’t get me wrong, I love routine, but when it involves the same old same old at work too…sometimes you need something to lift you up! I hate living for the weekends, but I can’t seem to help having that mentality. I feel like all I do besides work during the week is dishes and laundry. Why are there so many damn dishes??? And I always need some time to unwind before I go to bed. Mindless TV is the best thing to unwind with for me. Here are 10 things that I like to do to make my week better.
Get lost in a good book.
Binge on some Netflix.
Take a walk with your significant other, dog, or yourself.
Have a special dinner, whether you cook it or you go out.
Pick a non-Friday day to get a Starbucks in the morning as a treat. I like to do this on Tuesday for a “treat yo self Tuesday.”
Have a spa night at home after work with a great DIY facial or give yourself a pedi.
Light some candles, pour a glass of wine and take a bath.
Meet a friend after work for a quick happy hour or coffee.
Stroll through your favorite store on lunch hour.
Listen to audiobooks on your way to and from work. I actually look forward to my commutes when I have a good story to listen to!
I try to remind myself that every day can be a good day, it is all about the attitude that you have. What are some things that you like to do during the week to make it more enjoyable?
If you would have asked me ten years ago if I would have ever said “Roll Tide Roll,” I might have laughed at you. I wasn’t super in to college football back then. I would watch a little here and there with my guy friends, but I just wasn’t passionate about the sport or a specific team. I would root for a Georgia team because that is where I lived or pull for Alabama because a friend of mine was a fan and he was alone among a bunch of Georgia or other opposing team people.
When you live in Alabama, one of the first things people will ask you is Alabama or Auburn. You think I am exaggerating but I assure you I am not. The love for college football and these two teams is so deeply rooted in this state that you can’t help but get caught up in it. I was literally asked Alabama or Auburn in a job interview once. Like the job was dependent on the correct answer. Thank goodness I was an Alabama fan! Chris and his entire family are Alabama fans so it was just a natural choice for me. That and have you seen the hideous Auburn colors? No thanks.
Every Saturday in the south revolves around football when in season. Don’t you dare plan a wedding or a baby shower or any other life event without planning on getting shit from at least half your guests. And to be honest, I kind of love it!When you are out in about, random people will say Roll Tide Roll or War Damn Eagle to you. In the drive thru at Starbucks, I once had a family buy my drink because they noticed my Alabama tag and told the barista to say Roll Tide to me.
During football season I wonder what the hell I did with my weekends when it wasn’t football season. I proudly wear crimson and houndstooth and side eye all my Auburn friends. We are loud and obnoxious while gorging on all the amazing foods during the game. We cuss at the ridiculous announcers and stand and hold our breath when we are up for a field goal. Even if you don’t like football, you could at least participate in the shenanigans for the food and entertainment value of the crazy fans!
I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite tailgate/football treats with you all today!
Poor Thursday. It will forever be the not Friday of the week. Such is life. I am not even sure where I am going with this post today, hence the name. Sort of a birthday recap and random thought dump? I don’t know I just roll with it.
My birthday bump!
1.My morning started off yesterday with presents, so that was fun!!!
Working on your birthday is un-American and should be illegal. Especially when it falls in the middle of the week with no end in site. I am pretty sure no one even knew it was my birthday yesterday. Usually our corporate office sends out a happy birthday email company wide, but I was forgotten. 🙁 I did manage to score my free Starbucks for breakfast and free Which Which for lunch, so there’s that!
I stopped by Sephora on lunch to get my free gift a few little goodies I have been wanting to try. If I love them, I will share them next week. So far I am thinking I do!!! And I walked around Pottery Barn Kids just to see what they had. Why is everything so damn expensive in there? No thanks.
My MIL came up to our house last night to see me and Chris had surprised me with a huge cookie cake that he will be eating none of because he is still going strong with his diet. I felt like Kevin on Home Alone.
I am not even going to pretend like I wont be eating that whole thing. Because I probably will. I mean, it only counts as one cookie right?? I only see one cookie.
2. I am currently listening to The Nightingale on audiobook and reading Where We Fall from Netgalley. Both are heavier books and I am going to seriously need a light read after this!
3. Speaking of reading, I am so behind on magazines!!! I get so many subscriptions for free because of surveys I have taken and I love that I don’t have to pay for them. But right now they are taking up a lot of space all over the place because I am so behind! Maybe I need to tackle some of those this weekend. Do you get any subscriptions? Right now I think I have Real Simple, Martha Stewart, Health, Cooking Light, US Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, ESPN, Family Circle, Fit Pregnancy, Shape, Self, Glamour and Allure. Yeah…that is a lot to read in a month!!!
4. I haven’t watched a single minute of the Olympics. I am not sure why? I honestly forgot about the opening ceremony and I usually love gymnastics but I just don’t think about it when I get home.
5. I am super excited to go back to Tropicaleo today for lunch with Laura 🙂 Time to start looking at the menu now to decide what I want! Do you do that? Preplan your order? I am so indecisive I feel like I have to or I get overwhelmed at the restaurant when they ask. I am ridiculous. I know this.
