What’s Your Sign

Today is the day folks, and I am so excited!!! It is the What’s Your Sign link up with Laura and I!!!! Grab the button and let’s learn something new about each other and our astrological signs!

What's Your Sign Link Up Button

I am really interested in astrology and knowing what my sign is. It doesn’t always mean that I agree or relate 100% to it, but I certainly think there is something to it. I am not one that reads my horoscope though and I don’t buy in to all that woowoo business. I feel that our destiny in life can’t be figured out by reading the daily horoscope, you know? But the moon? The older I get, the more I notice that peoples moods are more often than not revolving around the moon. If your spouse is extra cranky, go see if it is a full moon. I bet it is!

Anyways, I thought it would be fun to go through some characteristics of the Leo and confess as to whether or not I identify as such!

Leo’s Strengths – Loyal, confident, ambitious, generous, encouraging, warm-hearted, cheerful,  humorous, broad-minded

I am very loyal, faithful and trustworthy. I am hard working and generous and am a natural people pleaser. I do what I can to help out other people. For the most part, I remain cheerful and upbeat about things, and I think I am hilarious. (You know you think I am too!!!) Confidence is something that I am on the fence with. I am confident in myself in that I believe I am fully capable to achieve things that I put my mind to. I am, however, afraid of failure and sometimes that holds me back. I had a friend tell me that she saw me as the confident one in our group, and that surprised me and made me laugh.

It says that Leos are broad-minded and intolerant of small-minded people. Oh, how that couldn’t be more true for me! I appreciate other people’s beliefs and thoughts and that we are all allowed to have our own. I cannot stand someone that is so small-minded that they are intolerant of other’s just because of their beliefs and thought processes.

Leo’s Weaknesses – Pretentious, egoistic, domineering, melodramatic, stubborn, self-centered, inflexible

When I think of pretentious, I think of people who think they are better than everyone else and care a whole lot about money and status. I care nothing of those things and have never acted better than anyone.

I will admit that I can be dramatic at times, even though in general I don’t really care for drama. If you make me mad or upset and I cross that line from a cool cucumber to angry Nadine…cue the dramatics. I can be stubborn, but I am not inflexible! I am the most easy going person when it comes to plans. That is the people pleaser in me. I am egotistic in that I easily have my feelings hurt. (I hate that about myself.) I might be a people pleaser but I am not an ass kisser and I do not like to be disrespected.

Domineering just made me laugh. But it is partly true. I do not try to control others in the least bit, but I do like to have control over myself. So much so, that it is a rarity that you ever see me have more than just a few drinks. I like to be in control of my actions and thoughts so being drunk is not enjoyable for me. I can admit that I make a bad passenger in the car because I am not in control of it either. And the bad weather freaks me out because of the unknown.

Leo Likes – Speculative ventures, lavish living, children, drama

Leo Dislikes – Doing things safely, ordinary day to day living, small minded people, penny pinching and mean spiritedness

While I do like the finer things in life and don’t have a problem with kids (as long as they aren’t out of control)….I am a huge fan of doing things safely and having a routine. BUT I hate small minded people, penny pinching and mean spiritedness. So I would say that these are half way accurate. Perhaps being OCD isn’t a usual trait for a Leo since it says that Leo’s don’t like routine or doing things safely…but I thrive in those things.

What’s your sign?? Do you relate to it or do you think it is total crap? Please link up with Laura and I and let us know!!! I left the link up opened for a few days so that you still have time to get your posts ready! I can’t wait to learn more about you all through this.

Advice for the Twenty Something

As I am approaching my 32nd birthday, it got me thinking about all the things I wish I would have known or done in my twenties. To be honest, the twenties are a weird time in life. You are still trying to figure out who you are, what your purpose is, how to live in the real world, you aren’t a child but you don’t quite feel like an adult either. (This is beginning to feel oddly like a Britney Spears song.)

I was terrified of turning 30. I am not really sure why? Perhaps because I spent the majority of my life thinking that 30 was old. Or that maybe 30 was when the fun was over? Either way, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Any 30 something I know will tell you that your 30’s are way better than your 20’s. Surprising, right?

Advicefor thetwenty something

–Don’t be so afraid of turning another year older!!! I dreaded my 25th birthday. I felt like there really wasn’t any more birthdays to look forward too after that. But you know what? Life is a gift. There are way too many people that don’t get to see that next year. Don’t be afraid of it, embrace it!!!!

–Stop worrying that you don’t have everything figured out yet! When we were in high school, they started making us plan out our future. We needed to know what we wanted to be when we grew up, all that shit. But you know what? Life doesn’t work out like you planned. You can’t possibly know what the future holds for you, so stop trying to obsess over it. All it does is cause anxiety and isn’t allowing you to fully enjoy the now.

–Start your health and exercise routines now. Sure, your metabolism may not have been where it was when it was 18, but you figure it really isn’t that bad. You do these stupid crash diets to look good for that event next Friday night or that pool party this weekend but then you fall back in your old ways, you stop for fast food more often than you should and you aren’t consistent with work outs. Let me tell you something, especially you ladies….when you look in the mirror when your 30 and you see that gravity is starting to take Course on your arms, your face, your chest, just everywhere….you are going to wish you would have worked harder in your 20’s so that you didn’t have to play catch up in your 30’s. It isn’t easy my friends. Not even a little.

–Take care of your skin!!!! I can’t tell you how much I hate the fact that I went to the tanning bed and worried about having some color when I was in college. Sure it was only a few years, but I have some sun spots that nothing in a bottle will lighten or get rid of now. It isn’t worth it!!!! I have seen some of my classmates and they are looking a little rough these days. Leather skin is not in.

–Along the lines of taking care of your skin, be sure that you are removing your make up every night. Sure you might have gone out and had a few drinky drinkies tonight and you really just want to crash in your bed. But if you do that too often without removing your make up, your face will start to tell the story! I was pretty good about having a skin care routine in my 20’s and I am so thankful for it now!!!! And don’t forget to moisturize, no matter how oily your skin is and you think you don’t need it. You do. Just trust me, ok?

–Be the best friend that you can be to anyone, but don’t be a doormat. I was that doormat. And when I lost the one friend I thought I would have been friends with forever, my world came crashing down on me. It hurt so bad to be thrown away like I was nothing when I finally had stood up for myself and tried to let her know that she wasn’t going to walk all over me anymore. To this day I still get sad about it, but I look back and realize that I had given so much and got little in return. Friends come and go from our lives, and that is just the hard truth. It hurts no matter the age or how long you were friends but no one deserves to be used.

–Work on keeping a relationship with your family. Sure, life can get busy sometimes and everyone has their own schedule to attend to. But you know what? Family is everything. You are going to wish you spent some more time shopping with your mom or grabbing a drink with your dad. Those memories are priceless.

–Start adding to your retirement or 401K plan now. Anything that you can add is better than nothing! I didn’t think I could afford to do that in my twenties and now I hate that I have to make up for it.

–Stay true to yourself. Never try to act like something you are not because you think people will like you better. Living a double life like that is exhausting and helps no one. Own who you are.

What is a piece of advice that you would give to a twenty something….or me!

about me, Wish List

Birthday Wish List

August sure did get here quick, did it not? Since it is my birthday month, I always think it is fun to create a birthday wish list! Maybe I am too old to create one, but this is my blog and I do what I want! It is nice to dream, right?

I have had my current Kate Spade case since I got my phone back in December. I think it is time for an update!

A gold bar necklace. It would go with everything. I love the ones that have a little heart engraved in them.

Gold Bar necklace with stamped heart - gold heart necklace- stamped heart bar necklace - choose carded with message or in silver gift box

A pastel pink/rose colored bag. I like this one from Kate Spade, you can carry it or wear as cross body.

Nail polish rack. How pretty would they all look out on display. You know…where I can actually see them and easily find one?!

These Michael Kors glasses I have been lusting over that I have seen at Nordstrom Rack. Aren’t they perfect?

A fold up bag to keep in my purse for days that it might be warranted!

This Tarte double ended shadow brush would be so perfect for creases!

Things I Do When No One Is Around

Do you ever think, really think, about your actions when you are alone with no one to judge you? I bet you act differently, right? I thought I would share with you some of the things that I do when I am alone.

–Sing  – It is a rarity that I sing in front of anyone. Yet, when I am alone…it is a freaking concert up in this bitch! The house, the car..it doesn’t matter. #britneybitch

–Dance – Literally dance like no one’s watching..because no one is. #dancelikenooneiswatching

–Try on all the clothes — I go through my closet and try on random clothes to see how they look. Usually this is choreographed with some type of dance and model walk to 90’s music. #strutyourstuff

–Talk to myself — If I am working on something, I might think out loud. Or I will audibly say my to do list. #ianswermyselftoo

–Treat the dogs like humans — Just kidding, I do this all the time. You should hear the conversations I have with them. #theyunderstandme

–Flex in the mirror — I have literally worked my ass off to finally see some definition, you better believe I flex like a bro. #doyouevenliftbro

–Indulge in guilty pleasures — I watch all the shows that Chris hates. HGTV or what’s up Kardashians. #trashtv

–Walk around in less clothes —  Sometimes I am getting dressed and realize that I left something in the laundry room. No one is there, why bother putting everything back on? Also, fuck pants.

–Win an argument –I might not have been clever enough to make a valid point in a debate, but you better believe I replay that shit when I am alone and come up with 500 things I should have said.

–Spa time — I don’t take bubble baths or do facial masks very often. I try to squeeze them in when I am alone.

–Make food only I like — I have some “weird northern” foods that only I would enjoy eating, now is the time to make it! Also, a cheese plate is a totally acceptable dinner when I am alone.

–Play Just Dance — I look like a damn fool when I play Just Dance, so I like to do it when I know no one is going to catch me.

–Leave the bathroom door open — Why bother closing it? Besides I can hear every noise in the house better with the door open.

–Freak out — Every noise is most assuredly an intruder waiting to murder me.

What do you do when you are alone?
