Friday Things

1.I was excited to receive the Poppy Vox Box from Influenster this week! I even did an Instastory about it! Anyone else feel awkward talking on Instastory or is it just me? Anyways, there is some really great stuff in this box!!! I am a huge fan of Rimmel lip products and I received a full size Oh My Gloss in the shade Master Pink! The smell reminds me of something I used to use when I was a lot longer and I sort of love that! It glides on smooth and leaves my lips feeling soft for a few hours. The color is sheer, but pretty.

There was also a Rimmel Scandal Eyes liner! I am a big fan of drugstore liners, and I had never tried a Rimmel one before. I like how precise the application is and the color is a deep black which I appreciate. The only thing is, I feel like it smudges some and it is most certainly NOT waterproof!! I was able to wipe it away with a wet qtip. I cant even do that with most regular liners.

I was really excited to try the Nyakio Kenyan Face Polish!!! This is a Kenyan Coffee scrub and it left my face feeling super soft!

I didn’t take care of my feet when I was pregnant. Mainly because the last few months I couldn’t reach them comfortably. They are still a disaster. The worst they have ever been, honestly. The 7th Heaven Sock Masque couldn’t have come at a better time! I haven’t actually used this one yet, I will report back.

Who doesn’t love a good in shower body lotion? I can always use the one from Nivea! It has a pleasant smell and I really love how soft my skin feels after using it. Works great for those mornings I am in a rush to get out the door because I can confidently skip putting on additional lotions.

I had never heard of Eva NYC, so I was intrigued when I saw the dry shampoo. I have pretty heavy opinions about the ones I like and dont like. I have to say, I like this one!!! The scent was pleasant and it didn’t leave a white film on my dark hair. I would consider purchasing this, it is half the price of the one I usually buy!

And yay for Tide Pods! The ones I received had downy in them and they smell heavenly! I usually use Honest Company laundry detergent for all of our clothes, but I love these Tide pods for our towels!

Have you used any of these items before? Thanks Influenster!!!

2. For you mamas out there, what is the best sunscreen you have used for your kid??? I wont be putting any on Zoe until after she is 6 months old, but that is right around the corner. I know my mom used Coppertone baby stuff on me and my sister but I have read so many horrible articles about regular sunscreens. It’s hard to know what the right thing to do is? I used Babyganics on myself last summer when I was pregnant at the beach, but I burned in splotches. I am worried it isn’t as good as some other stuff.

3. We finished watching Big Little Lies this week. SO GOOD! It didn’t follow the book exactly, but I really loved the casting and the few new twists to it. Some of you commented that there might be a second season in the works. That would be pretty cool! We have 13 Reasons Why on our list to watch, what else are you guys loving?

4. Did you know that there glitter paint for walls????? I basically want to glitter everything in my house now. Well ok, not everything. But how fun would a glitter accent wall be in my office?!

What’s Up Wednesday

I always enjoy reading these posts, but have never participated myself. I told myself last month that I would join in this go round, so here we are! Linking up with Shay.

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK

This week’s dinner menu consists of taco bowls two nights, turkey burgers with roasted potatoes, my baked pork chops, and mini paleo Italian turkey meatloaf. For lunches I am having paleo sloppy joe’s over baked red potatoes.

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT

Lot’s of things, but mostly past beach trips. I cant wait to take our first one as a family of three with Zoe! I am hoping that she is going to be a water/beach baby.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO

Things are pretty routine over here. Just werk werk werk werk werk. And well, raising a tiny human too! I went and picked up my money from the consignment sale I was in this past weekend. I actually made $50!!! And the girls that are doing it are hosting a garage sale next month so they offered to keep my stuff for it, so I plan on getting more stuff together before then to get rid of as well.

WHAT I’M DREADING

All of the bugs that we are going to have this year since it never really got cold here. Woof. This accurately describes the south…

WHAT I’M WORKING ON

Trying to get some blog posts drafted, organizing pictures on my computer, finishing the office in our house, and most recently I started uploading photos to make books for each month of Zoe’s first year. I figure I can do the first four months in the next month…and then just keep up with it monthly after that. I am making a page in each one to share mostly what I share on her monthly updates here on the blog too so she can see how she changed from month to month.

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO

We just finished Big Little Lies last night. I would like to start 13 Reasons Why soon. I am almost done reading The Girl You Left Behind, I have about 20% left. And I just started listening to I Don’t Know How She Does It on audiobook.

WHAT I’M WEARING

I have fully embraced the athleisure wear trend, and wearing lots of black workout capris, flowy workout tops and sports bras just about every day around the house. When I actually do leave, it is mostly swing or shift dresses. I have been wearing the heck out of the LC sandals I picked up a few weeks ago too!

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND

I am not really sure what we have planned for the weekend. Friday, Mario Kart comes out for the Switch. I plan to be in line when the stores open to grab one!!! So I am sure we will be playing that some! My BIL’s birthday is this weekend, and my sister is having a bonfire party for him Saturday night. Not sure if we will make it though since it is closing in on Zoe’s bedtime.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH

Chris’s birthday is next month! Hopefully we can plan something fun to do.

Coffee Chat

If we met for coffee, we would probably start talking about the weather yesterday. While there was potential for some really scary shit, it actually wasn’t too bad most of the day. I would tell you how Zoe and I spent the day with my SIL and nephew. It included an outing to Target and Starbucks before things were supposed to get bad. We hung around her house the rest of the day working and watching the kiddos play. I decided to go home around 5:30pm and a horrible hail storm started right after I pulled into my garage! Talk about good timing! There were downed trees everywhere around us. In fact, they are still cleaning that mess up this  morning, many roads are closed.

I would probably tell you that Zoe has been fighting her sleep a lot lately. It was just naps, but last night she had a meltdown for an hour before we could get her to bed. Four month sleep regression maybe? I would ask if you had any tips!

I would ask you what your weekend plans are. I am not sure what we are doing yet, but I hope they include getting my car washed. I clean the inside often and it is always vacuumed but I haven’t cleaned the outside since I bought it. Last July.

I would tell you that I need to go shopping for some clothes! I only have a few tops that fit me right now, and one pair of jeans. All of my dresses are old and super worn and I truthfully needed new ones last year. But I was pregnant and decided to just wear them all one more year as maternity and then get new ones this year. Well that time has come and I need to do some serious shopping! I am going to be honest though, the mirror is a brutal bitch postpartum. I have been pretty good about my food lately but I can always do better. I am thinking of going back to shakes for breakfast.

I would ask you what you are reading and watching on TV. I am about one chapter into The Girl Behind. I really need to just sit down and read some!! Chris and I have been catching up on all our normal shows. Last night we watched Chicago Med. We saved Big Little Lies until all the episodes were available, so I am hoping to maybe watch some of that this weekend.

I would tell you that we are trying to really purge and clean things up around the house. There is forever a ton of baby things taking up space all over. For a tiny human, she has a lot of stuff! I have a huge pile of clothes in my office area that needs to be hung and tagged for a consignment sale my neighbor is doing towards the end of the month. I hope to sell most of it! I just want to surround myself with things I love and nothing else. The clutter gives me anxiety! My hope is to walk in to any given room and just see things that make us happy. Hopefully all of that will make it easier to stage our house whenever we decide to put it on the market.

As any good thing, our coffee date would have to come to an end eventually. You know, adulting and stuff. I would tell you that we really need to do this again soon! Why do we always wait so long before we set time aside to focus on our relationships with friends? They are important too! I would suggest that maybe next time, we try out a new restaurant! Or maybe that Sour Room in Avondale that I have been dying to go to.

about me

A Day In My Life

I use to very much have a routine, wake up at 4:30am, workout, take a shower, do my make up, eat breakfast while I work on a blog post, get dressed, go to work, come home, make dinner, watch TV, go to bed. Every single week day. Now? Routine? LOLOLOLOL. Yeah no. Not with an infant. Especially not those first two months. We are sort of on more of a schedule now though. So this is what a typical day looks like in my world.

Somewhere between 5am-6:30am – Wake up. If Zoe wakes me up, I feed her a bottle and then we play in her room. If I wake up on my own, I grab some coffee and start working until Zoe wakes up. If it is the one day a week I go in to the office, I try and snag a shower and do my makeup before Zoe gets up.

7am – Zoe is surely up by now, we are usually playing in her room. We play in her chair, or lay on her mat on the floor. We usually ready A Great Day for Up around this time too.

8am-9am – Zoe is usually ready for a second bottle around this time. Usually she falls asleep while taking it and goes down for her morning nap so I work until she wakes up.

10am-11am – Around this time, Zoe is usually waking up from her nap and wants another bottle. If I am lucky, it is closer to 11am and I got two full hours of work in.

11am-1pm – While Zoe plays in her room, I sit on her floor with my laptop and get some work done while I entertain her with toys, let her sit in her bouncer or lay on her floor mat.

1pm – Zoe hangs out in her high chair in the kitchen with a toy while I prepare myself lunch and explain to her what I am doing. I have my laptop sitting on the kitchen table if anyone from work needs anything.

Zoe is usually ready for another bottle around this time. Sometimes she falls asleep while taking it and goes down for a long afternoon nap. Other times we go back in to her room and she plays while I work.

5:30-6:30pm – Chris usually comes home in this time frame and I try to have dinner ready for him shortly after he gets home. If Zoe wasn’t taking a long nap, she hangs out in her high chair while I make dinner.

7pm – We usually watch a little TV while I play with Zoe in her Sit Me Up or floor mat in the living room.

8pm – Zoe usually takes one last bottle and then falls asleep while we hold her and is out for the night. Chris and I usually watch a little more TV until one or both of us falls asleep on the couch then we go to bed. Sometimes I will work on more work stuff if Zoe didn’t take good naps during the day, or get some blogging done.

Don’t even get me started on the days I have to go in to the office. I leave our house at 6:50am, take Zoe to my MIL and get to my office *hopefully* around 8:30pm. One day it took me two hours and 9 minutes to get there. I leave work around 5:30pm, go get Zoe and get back to my house around 7pm. So I only get to see Zoe for about an hour before she goes to bed for the night. I dont know what I am going to do when I have to be back at the office five days a week instead of just the one. I am going to be devastated and never get to spend any real time with Zoe during the week 🙁

What does your day look like?

Life in Numbers

Image result for nail polish ecard

35 – The number of bottles of nail polish that I gave to my sister and nieces last weekend. I honestly have a ridiculous amount of polish for someone who rarely has her nails painted. I basically rotate the same 5-6 colors on my toes during sandal season and I maybe paint my finger nails once every other month for about four days. Or however long it takes for them to chip. I don’t see me upping that frequency with an infant. I mean seriously, who has the time to wait for them to dry. Zoe says I don’t.

10 – The number of pounds I am away from my pre-pregnancy weight.

40- The number of pounds I actually want to lose.

Image result for motivation ecard

0- The motivation I have some days to do anything about the last two statements.

4 – The number of segments it took me to get through my last work out. Someone needed a bottle. Then someone wouldn’t take a nap. You see where I am going with this, right?

7- The number of years Chris and I have been together. Our dating anniversary was January 10th and our engagement anniversary was February 19th. August 1st will be my 7 year anniversary of being a resident of Alabama.

5 – The number of bedtime books I read to Zoe last night. Little Miss loves to look at the pictures and hear mommy’s silly voices. I hope that means shes going to be a reader!

50 – The approximate number of magazines that are stacked in my office to read. Behind much?

12 – The number of calls I made for work yesterday during Zoe’s nap. The first time in a long time that I didn’t get sent to voicemail or have someone be rude with me. It was quite refreshing.

129- The number of minutes it took me to drop Zoe off and get to my office with traffic. RIDICULOUS!!!! This is why I like working from home most days. I get to see Zoe, I get so much more done because I can start earlier and not have to worry about getting ready and driving there. And I mean, who wants to sit in their car for 2 hours one way???? Not me. Not me at all.

3- The number of rings I wear on my fingers every day. Engagement ring, wedding band, and Zoe’s birthstone that Chris got me for Christmas.

1- Tattoo that I have on my upper right shoulder. I still want one on my wrist. I wanted to do it last year but then I got pregnant.

2- How many times Zoe rolled on to her belly yesterday then got pissed because she hates being on her belly.

My MIL sent me this picture when I was at the office Monday. She rolled over for her too. How cute is her ruffle butt?
