Nothing like a good old Currently post to get caught up with you guys and link up with Kristen and Gretch!

Reading: Forever, Interrupted. My love for TJR is big you guys! This story jumps back and forth between current and past. The premise is that the main character falls in love quickly and gets married….and her husband dies just 9 days after their wedding. She meets her MIL at the hospital for the first time and has to work with her on arrangements. So you have that going on, and then you get the back story on their love story. I am about half way in and am loving it!

Forever, Interrupted

Watching: The Good Fight and Jane the Virgin. I really loved The Good Wife so I knew that we would be checking out The Good Fight when it started and it does not disappoint!

I am blowing throw binges on Netflix during Zoe’s feedings. I watched the entire Gilmore Girls Series, then Last Man Standing and now I am on to Jane the Virgin. I am going to tell you that I was very skeptical about Jane the Virgin and had super low expectations. It is nothing like I thought it was going to be and I am loving it!!! Give it a try if you are on the fence. The narrator sort of gets on my nerves, but at least he keeps me up to speed on what is going on because this is one of those shows you have to be paying attention to at all times.

Listening: The new Beauty and the Beast song! Swoon!

Working:I have a lot of things in the works with some side hustle stuff and my biggest project right now is getting our spare room cleaned up. I have been working on this room forever!!! This past weekend we went and got some storage containers to get rid of all the stuff that got dropped in here without a home. This weekend I would like to get some type of shelving for all my books, and then I think I will finally be done and be able to organize and have it not looking a hot mess!

Fitness:Really trying to get my life together enough to get in regular workouts!!!I think I can do these on the floor in Zoe’s room to keep her entertained while she is doing mat time. Even my full time working mom self has five minutes! I need to stop making excuses and just do it.

Cooking: I am thinking about making something like this for breakfast next week. I need something that is already made and I can just heat up real quick while waiting for Zoe’s bottle to warm. Otherwise I end up snacking a lot whenever I have a minute waiting for a bottle to warm up or sneaking something while Zoe naps and never really get a real meal until dinner and that is so not good. Lots of empty, forgotten calories.

The 90’s (AKA Simpler Times)

Stephanie posted a 90’s tag and I basically wanted to leave a novel in her comments, so I decided to post my own. Who doesn’t love reminiscing on the simpler days of our youth?

Favorite Disney Film?

Hands down, my favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast. I love the movie, the characters, the music. It is the best!!! When I was younger, my favorite non-princess movie was Lady and the Tramp. I was always  a huge dog lover and I was obsessed with that movie, until 101 Dalmations came out. Then it was probably a tie in how often those two got played. Toy Story was also a great 90’s one! I remember going to the “fancy theater” to see that one with my best friend Ashley and her brother in middle school.

Favorite Disney Channel Original Movie?

Disney Channel always had the best movies, but I have to say that Smart House was my favorite!

Favorite Music Artist?

I have young parents, so I grew up listening to Guns n Roses, Poison, Metallica and all the hair bands. When I started developing my own tastes, I tended to love Alternative. And of course the boy bands! My first ever CD was Collective Soul. The first concert I went to was Matchbox 20 when I was a freshman in high school. I also went to NSYNC and BSB in high school.

Favorite Candy?

Sour Twizzlers came out when I was in high school and they quit freaking making them. So rude. When I was little, my grandma always filled a “junk drawer” for us. My favorite things were the big grape and cherry Tangy Taffy. They still make them!

Favorite Game (Board Game, School Game, Etc)?

My favorite board games were Life and Scattegories. My favorite school game was Heads Up 7 Up and Red Rover. And don’t even get me started on how excited I was on the days we walked in to the computer lab and Oregon Trail was up on the screens!!!

Favorite McDonalds Happy Meal Toy?

The Beanie Babies, duh! Most of the happy meal toys were total crap and got thrown out. But those beanies were everything!!! When I was in elementary school I did like getting the Hot Wheels cars. I had this floor mat at my grandmas that was a little town and I loved pushing cars around on it. I think I want to get one for Zoe when she is a little older!

Favorite Book?

I was big in to reading even at a young age. The Babysitter’s Club, Sweet Valley High, Boxcar Children, The Indian in the Cupboard, and Judy Blume books were my favorite.

Favorite Clothing Store?

American Eagle, Limited Too, Aeropostale, Gap, Express and The Limited were my go to places to shop in middle/high school. I always loved getting the Delia’s and Alloy catalogs.

I was all about the TGIF Friday nights!!! I loved Full House, Boy Meets World, Step by Step, Rugrats, Doug, Real Monsters, Saved by the Bell, Home Improvement, Ren and Stimpy, Clarissa Explains It All, The Nanny, Friends, Alex Mack, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Are You Afraid of the Dark, All That. So many good ones!!! And the game shows!!! Double Dare, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Nick Arcade, Guts, Supermarket Sweep, Shop Til You Drop, Wild and Crazy Kids. Loved them all.

Weirdest Fashion Trend?

I totally was obsessed with mood rings! I just thought they were the coolest. I also rocked scrunchies, overalls, slap bracelets, the ying/yang symbol clothes and jewelry, the smiley face trend, Joe Boxer things were cool, the Starter jackets were the bombdiggity (even though you can find that brand at Walmart now) and I totally had Airwalks and Vans (even though Airwalks are now a brand that Payless carries these days.)

Don’t Hate, Appreciate!

So yesterday was a complete shit storm. My day started off with a longer than expected appointment at my doctor’s office to coming to work to find out I was assigned to two jobs that I wasn’t originally on and an email asking where they were. Those are always fun to come in to, right? We are supposed to be able to leave at 2pm today, but I doubt that will happen based on all the that we have due. Here is to hoping!!!

I say all that to say, there is always something to be thankful for. It is cliche to say that around this time of year because we all have things to be thankful for every day. Especially things we take for granted!!! But I wanted to reflect on some of the things that I am thankful for today and this past year.

–I think it is obvious the number one item on my list is baby girl who will be joining us any day now!!!

–A mostly healthy pregnancy. I have been very lucky during my pregnancy to never actually get physically sick, no major scares, and all the pain, discomfort and lack of sleep this past month or so has been totally normal and expected. Totally worth it.

–Great family, friends and all of you bloggers out there who have supported me. Having so many amazing people in my life makes the every day great.

–Chris. Just everything about him. I am so thankful that we took a chance and met up that cold January day back in 2010. Doing life with him by my side has been so much better than I could have ever imagined. And now that we are starting a family together, I am more excited than ever. I know he is going to be an amazing dad.

–Netflix and Hulu -Come on…all of you are thankful for these services right??? It is probably what I spend most of my time doing outside of work!

–All of the every day basics that we take for granted. We are truly lucky to live in a country where we can say #firstworldproblems.

–Books. Nothing like getting transported to a whole new world whenever you want.

–This blog. It is so wonderful to have this blog to come to and share things and connect with so many amazing people. Most rewarding hobby ever if you ask me.

I hope that all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! And to those of you who will be out Black Friday shopping, know I am there in spirit! Happy eating! Happy shopping!

about me

Thoughts for Tuesday

–Seeing all the Black Friday ads is bumming me out a little this year. Every year since I was 10 years old, my mom and I went out with the crazies for Black Friday shopping. It is one of my most favorite days of the year!!! This year I won’t be participating because hello, super hella pregnant over here! Ordering online just isn’t the same. It was more about spending the entire day with my mom.

–Speaking of sales, I opened my email this morning to see a Kate Spade Surprise sale!!! Man those 75% off deals are super tempting. I saw so many cute purses and jewelry in this one this morning.

–I am less than thrilled about the book I started reading last week and haven’t cared to even pick it up the last several days. I am not sure if it is the fact that the book just doesn’t thrill me, or if I am in a reading slump and need a break. I am not forcing it.

–Every time I feel off or my stomach starts cramping I think….is this it??? Talk about some anxiety!!! Someone was having a moving party at 2am this morning and kept me up for over an hour and a half. That would explain the scattered post today. I have my 39 week doctor appointment this morning so I will find out if I have had any progress since last week.

–I love love love that it is finally cold enough to turn the heat on at night. What I don’t love about having the heat on? Nose bleeds! Every damn day. Does this happen to anyone else? This has been my life for as long as I can remember.

–When is the last time you had a Thomas English Muffin? I forgot how amazing they are toasted with some butter!

–Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions? When I was little, we would always put our Christmas tree up Thanksgiving night while watching Eddie and the Cruisers. I have no clue how it came to be this movie, it is not a holiday movie and has nothing to do with Thanksgiving or Christmas. It is just what we did. My mom always bought a box of fancy assorted chocolates for the occasion. Then Friday morning we would get up early and go shopping.

Now as an adult, we spend our Thanksgiving split between Chris’s parents for lunch and usually my mom for dinner and then my mom and I head out around 9 or 10 pm to go shopping and return around 4 or 5 pm the next day. Except this year. This year we are just going to Chris’s parents house. My mom is skipping out on Thanksgiving since we are so close to my delivery date and my sister never comes over for her dinner anymore because they have other plans on Thanksgiving.

I leave you with this song from the movie that I absolutely love. The entire soundtrack is awesome and brings back so many memories!

And because I cant leave out this song either, I am sharing it as well. The guitar and sax in this one gives me chills. This video is directly from the movie.

about me

Four Years (and almost a month)

My four year blogiversary passed last month and I never really got around to posting about it. (October 24th) I had some thoughts in my head for the post that centered around how the blogging world has changed so much in those four years. How many bloggers I have seen come and go. Some started out at the same time as me, got huge, then burned out and never returned. Some of you are still blogging strong and are my daily reads, and others I have quit following because they got too big for the britches and don’t talk to little people like me anymore or completely sold out and their blog is nothing but one sponsored post after another.

For me, blogging has always been a place for me to come and be creative. To get my thoughts out, to socialize and make a few friends. When I opened and stared at my first blank post back in 2012, I never realized that blogging would become my number one favorite hobby. I never realized that I would meet the person whom I refer to as my best friend. Or that I would have a regular texting chat going with a group of amazing ladies!!! (What up to my ahole bros.)I never realized how much the connections I have made with you all would have meant to me!!! A LOT!

In these last four years, you guys have seen me get married, change jobs, and now we are having a baby!!!

Before I get way to sappy and sentimental here, the point of all this is…thank you to all of those reading this. I appreciate you so much! I joke around that I talk to a lot of you more than people “in my real life” and it is the honest truth. We all have a connection through this hobby of ours that is pretty damn special if you ask me!

It has come to that time of year where the holidays are knocking on the door! Thanksgiving is just a week away, crazy right??? Last year I exchanged Christmas cards with a few of you and it was so much fun getting snail mail from some of my favorite people. If I exchanged Christmas cards with you last year, you will receive one again this year for sure! If any of you would like to be added to the list, let me know in the comments and I will reply asking for your address. Who doesn’t like happy mail?? I will say, our cards are going to go out a little later than I usually do them this year because I have something special planned for them.

Cheers to you!
