Favorite Song: I find myself singing along to this song when it comes on. Bright by Echosmith.
Favorite Beauty Product: I received two new Cover Girl products from Influenster that I am in love with!
The mascara is called The Super Sizer, and super sized indeed!!! If you look at the wand below, it is very detailed and smaller than your normal mascara wand. My lashes are short and thin. I usually have to be really careful with mascaras because they tend to clump easily on me. Not this one! I love how build-able this one is! If I want a simple day look, I can just swipe twice on each eye and have decent looking lashes. If I really want the wow factor, I can just swipe a few more coats and it looks like I am wear fake eye lashes.
My favorite thing about it? It comes off easily with my Neutrogena eye makeup remover. Something I am finding harder to do these days with most mascaras for whatever reason.
The eyeliner made me a little nervous because it is liquid. When I opened the packaging though, I realized that you can use it on it’s side for a thinner, more precise line…or you can use it flat for a thicker, more dramatic look. I have played both ways and the results are awesome! I am no longer afraid of liquid liner.
I really liked this formula because it stays black, not some weird color when color when it dries. It is super precise and it did not run or smudge all day.
Favorite Moments: I did a lot more than I usually do during the week! We hosted a food drive Wednesday night and got to hang out with some awesome people at World of Beer. Yesterday for lunch I met up with my usual Friday group (minus Courtney, whom we missed!) to try PT’s of Soho, which did not disappoint. Then last night we had a girls night at Saw’s Juke Joint.
The space at PT’s of Soho was fun. They had arcade games in the back and a great patio area outside. I ordered a salad with a cup of chili. The other’s at my table split fried green tomatoes. I am not a fan of fried green tomatoes, but they looked pretty so I had to snap a picture at least!
Favorite Snack: I am loving the Yoplait Greek Whips Vanilla Cupcake. Yes, you read that correctly….Vanilla Cupcake!!!! The texture of the whips is my favorite and the flavor….oh the flavor!!!!

Linking up with Amanda! Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommy’s and mommy-to-be’s! Have a great weekend!
So I finally pulled the trigger on a beauty subscription box!!! I have read hundreds of posts about Ipsy and Birchbox but about 50% of the stuff people were getting, I cared nothing about. And really, who needs a new make up bag every single month?? I would rather that bag be another product instead, you know? One day I was flipping through Allure and saw that they had a Sample Society Box. I had never seen this before!!!
Before I go on, I want to say that I am writing this post on my own. I found this box in my magazine that I have a subscription to, I paid for the box on my own and am not getting compensated for this post. I just wanted to share about another subscription box that is out there because I love to talk about all things beauty!
What’s the Deal: For $15 a month, Allure sends you 5 deluxe size beauty samples, a mini magazine about the samples and a $10 off your $50 purchase on beautybar.com. I figured that was a decent deal for 5 deluxe samples!
My Initial Thoughts: I was excited to see the brands and items I got. Bumble and Bumble Invisible Hairdresser Oil has been on my list to try forever now. As was Marc Jacobs perfume and I love Benefits stuff! But then I looked at the sizes of everything. I thought these were supposed to be deluxe sized samples??? These are tiny!!! I can see pictures of previous boxes and this one looks sparse compared to others. Though, there are 6 samples instead of 5, so maybe that is how they made up for the smaller samples?
Also, I want to note that they did not include the mini magazine in my box. I am assuming this is an over site on their end. I better get one next month though, damnit! So what I am telling you about these products is from my experience, as I didn’t have much to go by other than what is written on the packages. Get your shit together, Allure.
What I Got
Bumble and Bumble Invisible Hairdresser Oil
I have had several people recommend this product to me, it has been on my list to try forever. I have the finest of fine hair. Normally I stay away from most styling products, especially if it has the word oil in it because hello….my hair doesn’t take much to get oily on its own because of how thin it is! I am here to tell you that I have used this twice and it does not make my hair oily in the least bit!! I was shocked!
Should you get it: Very impressed and I would purchase the full size. I also have confidence to go ahead and try other products from this company.
Benefits Porefessional
I love Benefit’s products, and I have received several samples of things like their mascaras, highlighters, stay put concealer, etc that I have enjoyed. This one has that silicone feeling that a lot of make up primers have. It goes on smooth, and you can use it under make up as a primer….or you can use it over your make up. I haven’t tried it over yet, but I have tried it under twice. I feel like it makes a decent primer, but I am not 100% convinced yet. My face has been acting a little crazy lately, so I dont blame the product.
Should you get it: Sephora sales a $10 sample size of this, and I would probably get that first before buying the larger one.
Marc Jacob’s Daisy Dream
This Marc Jacob scent reminds me of a sunflower perfume I used to wear in high school, only more sophisticated. I rather enjoyed it, though I don’t think I would want a big bottle of it. Chris was highly allergic to this one though, so I am going to be giving away the remainder of my sample to my mom or my sister.
Should you get it: If you like floral scented perfumes and aren’t sensitive to scents, I think this is a decent option.
Mt Sapola Lavender Chamomile Body Lotion
This lotion smells exactly like you would think, Lavender and Chamomile. It goes on smooth, absorbs quickly, and didn’t leave any weird or oily residue behind like some lotions do. The scent is just so calming, I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, it is such a tiny sample that I didn’t want to put it all over my body and use it all up in one use. I have just been using it on my hands in the evenings and really do like it.
Should you get it: While I do like it, there are plenty of other lotions out there. If I saw this in the store, I would consider it for purchase but I wont be going out of my way to look for it.
Jane Iredale Rio Just Kissed Lip Plumper
Rio is a rosy brownish color, which isn’t usually my first choice but I did like it. The formula is supposed to be both moisturizing and plumping. I have a suspicion that the plumping is supposed to be subtle because I didn’t feel a tingle like I do with some lip products that claim to plump. My lips don’t really need plumping so I didn’t notice any added benefit for me there. I did like the formula though. It went on smooth and was a little hydrating, it didn’t dry me out like some.
Should you get it: I think this is a great color if you are looking for a rosy brown. Past that? There are plenty of drugstore brands that I liked better. For me it is a pass.
Illume Tonka Noir Luxury Scented Candle Tin
This candle has a really pleasant scent. I like that it is in a tin and the size would make a great travel candle. You can smell hints of vanilla, sandalwood, mandarin, rose and jasmine. For this little tin….it really works well. I lit it on our fireplace in our living room and the whole open area of my house smelled wonderful after about 10 minutes of burning. We let it burn for about 2 hours and there is still plenty left. I liked that this was a soy candle, and I googled the brand and they seem to be a decent price point.
Should you get it: I would most definitely get this scent again and try others from this brand.
Have you heard of the Allure Sample Society box? Have you tried any of the above mentioned products? Would you consider getting a subscription to this?
Favorite Song: Afrojack Ten Feet Tall – This isn’t a new song by any means…but I just love it!!! I added it to my running list for next week. It is in good company with a whole bunch of Calvin Harris stuff. And Lady Gaga. Because if you aren’t running to Lady Gaga, I am not sure what you are doing with your life.
Favorite Dinner: Last night Chris and I met up with his family at Konomi for my sister-in-law’s birthday dinner. I freaking LOVE good sushi and hibachi…and great company too 🙂
Favorite Beauty Product: I picked up the Biore Charcoal Warming 1 Minute Face Mask last week because I just have to do something about my skin. I only used it once so far, and I can really tell a difference. My skin is smoother, some of the blemishes I could feel starting disappeared and the overall look (tone?) of my face is brighter and more even. All in one minute of scrubbing?Yes, please!
Favorite Surprise: Chris was out thrifting and he picked me up this Donald Duck mug. I thought it was so sweet of him to grab it. I had no clue he was looking for glasses for my collection when he went out, but he said he does all the time.
Favorite Body Product: I like to keep a scrub in my shower at all times for good exfoliation. I normally grab one from Bath and Body Works, but when I was at Target last weekend I found this Bodycology Sugar Scrub.
I am really loving this stuff!! I picked up the XOXO one, it has a delicate smell of raspberry and vanilla musk. It reminds me of a scent I used to wear in college and I just love how soft it makes my skin feel after I use it. There were two other scents, a floral one and a sugar one….they all smelled great in the store and I think this is going to be my go to from now on at $5.99!!!

Favorite Song – Break Free by Ariana Grande- I really love to run to this song. I know this song is about breaking free from another person, but when I am running…the lyrics are sort of in my head about breaking free and letting go of my old self. I spend a lot of time on that treadmill, I put thought into this haha.
Favorite Podcast – I am done with the first season of Serial, all caught up on Call Your Girlfriend and was looking for a new binge. Enter Totally Married! There are a TON of episodes because they people have been at this awhile, and they have another podcast called Totally Laime that they do as well. This couple is hilarious! I am 3 episodes in and can’t wait to binge on more in the car! I missed it yesterday morning when I worked from home!
Favorite Polish – I mentioned the other day that I painted my toes while in a rush to get out the door. The color is Nicole by OPI Purple Yourself Together and I LOVE IT! I don’t really want to take a picture of my toes, so I Googled it and here you go…
Favorite Breakfast – Some people asked me how I was upping my protein and what powder I use. About Time Whey Protein Isolate is one of my favorite protein powders. It is made with Stevia so you are not getting all that artificial sweetener crap in it. You can’t really find it at GNC…after many hours spent in there examining their bottles…most of theirs is filled with artificial crap. Sigh. I order mine on Amazon and it is always in the $30-$40 price range and free shipping. This is my third bottle and it makes excellent smoothies! At 100 calories, 25 grams of protein, zero sugar and less than 1 carb…you will be hard pressed to find a better one! It is non-GMO.
Favorite Recipe (to try): I love nachos. I really do!!! I am trying to cut down on my carbs and processed foods and I stumbled across Zucchini Nachos! You can find the recipe here. I have got to try these soon! Don’t they look delicious!?
Favorite Song – James Bay – Let it Go – I freaking love this song and it has been on repeat basically since I first heard it. Strangely enough I heard it on Vampire Diaries. I seriously find the best songs from that show and PLL, sadly. Take a listen and tell me what you think!
Favorite Work Out – I mentioned that I started the C25K program this week! My new workout schedule looks like this:
Monday – C25K
Tuesday – Back/Shoulders/Chest
Wednesday – C25K
Thursday – Arms
Friday – C25K
Favorite Beauty Product – Last week I shared that I was loving the St Ives Apricot Scrub. The perfect partner to that? Ponds moisturizer. You guys, my skin just soaks this bad boy up and LOVES it! My skin has been insane the last few months with break outs, dry patches and just overall blah. This moisturizer and scrub combination has really kicked my skin back in to shape and I am loving the results. The fact that they are both found at Target is even better! In fact, I found them in the travel sized area!!! They have lasted over a month now too, all for just a few dollars so no big loss of investment if you don’t love them.
Favorite Recipe – I made Snow Ice Cream on Wednesday night for the first time in my life. I really enjoyed it! (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk.)
Favorite Delivery – I won a Bondi Band in Artney’s give away! Perfect timing for all the running I am going to be doing! Also, if you love running and fitness…you should follow Artney! She is such an inspiration, and a fellow Alabamian! She just ran the Mercedes Half Marathon last weekend and she went to Disney for their marathon. If I were to ever run a marathon….which less face it is probably a slim chance…but it would be Disney for sure!!!!
Favorite Coffee – I realize that it is a bit late for this, but Target had a coupon in their Cartwheel for Caribou Reindeer Coffee. When I lived in Atlanta, I loved Caribou just as much as Starbucks and the others out there. Right now Cartwheel has it for 30% off because the season is over. It is freaking delicious with my sweet cream creamer. It is around $7 for 16 cups with that discount. Get you some!
