Friday Favorites – Three Day Weekend Style

I am extremely ready for this three day weekend. Extremely. Not to mention that tomorrow kicks off football season for Alabama! The game doesn’t start until 7pm. Don’t they know it is going to go past my bedtime? Hopefully I can hang in there! I have plans to get some stuff done around the house this weekend as well, so hopefully that happens.

Favorite Song: I hadn’t heard this song in forever and I think it came on One Tree Hill or something last week. Anyways, love and had to immediately add it to one of my Spotify lists. One of the best things about watching One Tree Hill now is a reminder of all the awesome music. Boston by Augustana.

Favorite Recipe: This Mexican Street Corn Soup looks so good!!! I know a lot of people consider the fall and winter to be soup season, but its soup season all year in my house. I just love soup, what can I say?

Favorite Moment: Chris made an August mix and posted it to Soundcloud. He didn’t even really promote it or share it on Twitter or anything and it has had over 1 million plays in a week!!! That is insanity!!! Here it is if you want to check it out. He has had two internet radio stations reaching out to him to play it already.

Favorite Purchase: I tried to go the drugstore route with my foundation the last two times I purchased some. I wanted to save money and thought I would give them a try. You guys? I just cant. I loved the Loreal Lumi Cushion one that I got but at $15.99 it only lasted a month. Ummmm I can get about a half a year out of some of the higher end brands so while they cost more upfront, when you break it down to monthly they look a whole lot better! I also tried Maybelline Dream Liquid Foundation and it would be ok if I didn’t have combination skin. Or it wasn’t hot as balls down here. Or I didn’t want a whole lot of coverage. So I am back to an old friend. Estee Lauder Double Wear. You cannot beat the coverage of this one! Plus, Macy’s is doing a free gift with purchase right now and it is an awesome free gift!!!

This was the free gift. I chose the eye shadow, liner and mascara (over the lipstick, gloss and blush) and the elephant zipper charm. How gorgeous is that bag?

Favorite Lust: I have been wanting to try the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. Anyone else out there have them/love them? Let me know.

I have been on the hunt for a tiered tray for our bathroom counter for all our lotions and potions that drive me nuts. I keep looking at TJ Maxx and HomeGoods and of course since I am in the market I never see any. Eventually I will find one! Something like this or this would be great!

–Sadly, I have to agree with this article on Macy’s. When I am walking around their stores, I don’t feel like I am in an “upper class” department store. In fact, some Kohl’s look better! I hope they can turn things around because I love the INC brand and the Macy’s Day Parade and everything.

What I Am Loving Lately

I have picked up a few new things over the last couple of weeks and thought I would share them all with you in one spot! This is a little mix of everything, skincare, beauty, candy, etc. Basically everything I am loving lately!

Boscia MakeUp-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil: I used to love Boscia a few years ago and used it exclusively for awhile. Like every other face wash, it quit working in time and I switched it up. I watched a youtube haul recently where someone was obsessed with this stuff and I thought I would give it a try. You guys!!! I love it!!! It takes off allllll my make up, including my hard to remove liner and mascara. I like that you rub it on your face while it is dry then wash it away. It leaves my face feeling so soft and not all tight and dry like most make up removers. I have zero redness after using it and it has a very faint smell that is pleasant, nothing over powering or irritating. I am 100% buying the full size bottle when this runs out. I grabbed this size for $10 at Sephora.

The Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla Lavender: I have been on a quest to find a healthier deodorant for some time. I have tried Paper Wai and a few others and they all quit working after awhile and a few of them I hated the application of. Paper Wai I am looking at you making me apply with my fingers. Biana (and someone else who has skipped my mind at the moment) have raved about this one so I thought I would give it a try. Biana has never steered me wrong. I LOVE this stuff!!! I have been using it for awhile and the scent is awesome, the application is a roller ball just like a normal deodorant, and it has lasted all day in this miserable Alabama August heat. It is a little more expensive than a regular deodorant but so, so worth it. Plus who doesn’t love an excuse to go to Sephora, am I right? Though I am sure you can order online from other places too.

Ulta Finds:I won an Ulta gift card from Lindsay and couldn’t wait to use it! It just so happens that the sales gods were shining down on me the day I looked because they were having a flash sale!!! I scored this amazing Michael Kors Sexy Amber roller ball and lip gloss duo for $14.99! That is half off! It smells awesome and the lip gloss color is so gorgeous!!! I also got a good deal on these Real Techniques beautyblenders for $7.99 for two and I replaced one of my favorite Bare Minerals shadows, Bare Skin.

This is the second time I have purchased the Real Techniques beautyblenders and I love them. They are just as good as the real thing, because I have used it before too. I just cant bring myself to ever pay $20 again for one because lets me honest, even after cleaning them you want a new one after a few months. Mine had started falling apart a little and looking dingy. At the price of the RT, I don’t mind tossing them and grabbing new every few months and feel no guilt now!

I got a few free samples but I wont be able to try out the CC cream or eye cream until after baby comes because of some harmful ingredients. The Nectarine Rose lotion sample is alright but a little too strong smelling for my liking.

Hint Fizz: Sometimes I really just need something other than water. There aren’t many healthy options while pregnant. I want to avoid anything bad, including artificial sweeteners. I have hated La Croix since becoming pregnant. Makes me sad because I loved that stuff before! I found these bottles at Target. They are sold individually, I am hoping I can find a pack to make them more cost effective because they are delicious!!!

Candy: I had to stop at Walgreens the other day and happened upon these. Combine my two favorite flavor bags of skittles in one? Yes, please!!!

Friday Favorites

It appears to be time for Friday Favorites already!!! My favorite thing is the fact that it is Friday. Ha! This weekend we have a tasting at a new restaurant in town. It is a different concept than anything else in the area and that makes me all kinds of excited. It is a Puerto Rican/Caribbean style restaurant that has tostones as a staple on their menu. You know I will be sharing photos!!! Other than that, I am not sure what else we have going on other than the usual cleaning and grocery shopping.

Anyone sign in to Bloglovin this morning and it look totally different? I changed mine back to list view I wasn’t expecting that!

Favorite Song: Trap Queen – I keep hearing this everywhere lately and it is so random.

Favorite Purchase: I am preparing for life with child and ordered a mommy juice glass.

Favorite Lust: So I told myself early on that I wasn’t going to need some fancy diaper bag but I changed my tune after seeing this pretty!!! I decided that regular diaper bags are anywhere from $40 to $100 depending on style. For about $60 more, you can have a beautiful designer leather bag that you can turn in to a weekend/overnight/travel/laptop bag after it’s life as a diaper bag. Sounds like the smarter investment to me! Hmmm brown or black, I can’t decide?

Favorite Beauty: I have found the ultimate drugstore foundation for me! Loreal Lumi Cushion. This is the perfect color (I am N2), great for building to achieve the coverage you want, has pretty packaging (hello rose gold) and can be applied with the pad it comes with or a beauty blender (I love real techniques version) works wonders. What I like the most is that I don’t even feel this on my skin at all. It just looks and feels like skin. Seriously worth the try if you are in the market for a new foundation.

Friday Favorites

Oh hello there, three day weekend. We are so close!!! Just a few hours at work and then three glorious days!!!

Favorite Song: Cheap Thrills with Sia and Sean Paul. Oh, how I have missed you Sean Paul!!!

Favorite Moments:

–Getting to see my nephew graduate kindergarten. You guys, he is just the cutest! He hated the “little kid songs” that they had to sing and you can see him up on stage pulling at his shirt, looking bored and rolling his eyes. Proud aunt over here!!! Also, he was 1 of only 7 in his class to get all 221 site words. Such a smart kid! Afterwards, my sister, nephew and I headed to his favorite restaurant for a graduation lunch. If you are wondering what his favorite place is….it is a Chinese buffet. LOL! haven’t been to one of those in years. My sister and I may have eaten our weight in cheese wantons. Whatever. You would have too!

–Favorite conversation with said nephew:

Me: So ummm is that your girlfriend???

Nephew: Um, yes. (face turns red as he hides from his mom)

Me: She’s real pretty!

Nephew: Ugh! Why do you have to say that?!?!?!!

Me: What happened to Gabby?

Nephew: (He crosses his arms.) She kissed Braydon on the playground and mommy said shes a ho, so I had to let her go.

Me: Wait, what?

These kids are five and six!!! Hahahahahaha!

Favorite Recipe: Memorial Day is basically the start of summer! And what better way to celebrate summer with some summer food? Macaroni salad with pancetta??? Yes, please!!!!!

Favorite Beauty Product:I grabbed two Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour shadows when they were BOGO 50% off at Walgreens last week. From the Leather collection I grabbed Creamy Beige and from the regular collection I got Bad to the Bronze. I am loving them both so much. Normally I am not one for drugstore shadows, as I tend to buy one high end palette a year to supplement whatever my supply is. I had heard some great things about these and at the price point I figure, what do I have to lose? With my UD primer, these stay in place all day, are highly pigmented and do not smudge or crease. Love love love!

But with all the new studies that have come out regarding the scary bad chemicals that are in most of our “trusted” brands we have been using for years….it is hard to know where to turn.
