Friday Things

My little sister turns 29 on Monday. It’s funny, because I remember when I turned 29. That was the year that I accepted a new job, bought a new car, closed on the home that we still live in and it was the year Chris and I got married. Tracy already has all those things, but it is quite a year to get nostalgic about. As you say goodbye to your 20’s with one last hurrah! Anyways, I am sure that I will get to see her at some point this weekend because I have the goods. And by the goods, I mean Zoe. Tracy probably wins for most Zoe visits out of anyone. I have a feeling that those two will have a special bond. At least I hope so! We didn’t have any aunts or uncles growing up, as both my parents are only children. I am glad that Zoe has a few aunts and uncles!

This week was a fun one. My MIL was out of town, so I worked from home the entire week instead of going in to the office one day. It worked out great and I still got done just as much as I would have otherwise. Dropping those 3-4 hours I spend in the car the day I go in really makes for more productivity if we are being honest!

Favorite Moments: Tuesday, Zoe and I met Laura for lunch at Ashley Mac’s! It had been far too long since I have seen her beautiful face, and a girls lunch is always good for the soul. She brought Zoe the cutest little pink elephant romper and took a picture of Zoe and I while we were there. I hardly have any pictures with me and her so I really appreciated the thought!

I try to make it a point to walk with Zoe to the mailbox every day and sit out on our front porch for a few minutes so we get some Vitamin D and fresh air! Zoe is straight up Chris all over, except her eyes. She has my eyes. Unfortunately for her, that means they are super sensitive to light so she totally rocks shades all the time with no fuss.

Zoe was so silly yesterday morning, here are the many faces of Zoe. All taken within a minute of each other. The bottom right one is my favorite.

Favorite Workout: When I can get in a regular cardio workout while Zoe naps, I have been doing this one a lot. I really like it! If I have more time after, I tack on a ten minute arms workout and a few stretches and am good to go!

Favorite Lust: My face has been breaking out again this last week or so. I have heard a lot of great things about the Murad Time Release Acne Anti-Aging cleanser. Have any of you used it? I am thinking about trying it because acne? Anti-aging? Yep, need both.

Also, after seeing Andrea wearing some pink Adidas Gazelles, I decided I need a pair ASAP. Like how cute are these???

Favorite Funnies:

I either have my hair and makeup done, or I look homeless. There is no in between.:

It's a sad statement that I have to visit Facebook to find funny things to pin. What the hell, Feed? And special thanks to George Takei...:

I went to schedule this post and realized it is St Patrick’s Day! Happy St Patrick’s Day!! Since I am part Irish, clearly I need to celebrate it in some way right? I feel like this week just went rushing right on by. Even work hours. I was busy busy busy. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Favorite Moments:

–A few coworkers and I headed over to the new Pizitz Food Hall downtown to check out the food court there. It was really cool. While I wasn’t super impressed with the meal I ordered from Choza, I am sure to go back and try some other things!!! I got three tacos, a chorizo, chicken and steak. I hate corn tortillas and didn’t realize that is what they would be. Despite that, the chorizo taco was good and had a real kick to it. The steak one was alright. The chicken one was really  bland. I think next time if I go to that particular place, I would get a bowl instead. There is a bar set up in the middle of everything and several other restaurants I am dying to try!!! There are both an Ethiopian and Jerusalem place that I want to try, as well as a fish place that has sushi bowls that Laura has convinced me I need in my life.

–Speaking of Monday, I put on pre-pregnancy clothes and they fit!! Of course, not everything in my closet fits. But my stretchy jeans and the flowy tops do and I am calling that a freaking win!

–Another win? When I met up with my Friday lunch club girls that haven’t seen me since the week before I had Zoe. They finally got to meet her and made the comment that I don’t even look like I recently had a baby. Biggest compliment there ever was.

–This Very Berry Good Salad from Urban Cookhouse is what dreams are made of. I always order it with grilled turkey and citrus vinegerette. YUM

–I took Zoe to Babies R Us to use a gift card that we received from a sweet friend. I wanted to get her some new toys because we are both bored with all her current ones. Check out her haul!

–That dancing robot thing that lights up??? I save it for tummy time. Now look who likes it!!! Check out that neck strength! (The lights are reflecting on her face, she isn’t really a pink baby lol.)

–Zoe’s high chair has been sitting in the box in a corner of her room since we received it before she arrived. I decided to go ahead and put it together yesterday because she really likes sitting up. (And I am tired of looking at the big huge box.) Look at her loving it like a big girl!!!

Favorite Recipe: I am still trying to stay Whole 30/paleo the majority of the time. I have expressed my hatred of eggs many times. Here is the perfect non egg whole 30 breakfast! I cant wait to try this.

I could eat this stuff for every meal. Okay….I actually do..it works as breakfast, lunch, snacks or even a side dish at diner! It is definitely a whole30 and paleo breakfast staple and is a g…:

Favorite Mini Haul:I had to stop at Walgreens the other day and they were having a sale on their Wet n Wild stuff. Their brushes were 2 for $5. Um, ok!!! These brushes feel amazing and are so pretty!!! I got the blush, flat top and eyeshadow. Remind me of some higher end ones. I also have been dying to try the Lancome cushion highlighters. I didn’t want to pay the price for them, so I grabbed this one from Wet n Wild instead. It is super pretty!!!

Favorite Lusts: Even though this week has been cooler, overall it is starting to warm up around these parts. Time to start thinking about spring/summer clothing. I needed some new dresses last  year, but since I was pregnant I just wore the crap out of the few flowy ones that I had. Basically I am started from scratch now and need at least a few to get me by this coming season. How perfect is this cold shoulder one from Loft??? My issue with a lot of dresses is that the arm holes are way too big for me. Ummmmm this tie shoulder strap would be PERFECT!

I fell in love with these sandals from Target. I am just patiently waiting for their shoes to go BOGO or at least on sale. There were a few others I wanted to scoop up also. Like these. And these. And maybe these.

Favorite Purchases: Speaking of shoes at Target, I did scoop these up last week. There was only one pair left in my size, and only about five pairs total in my store. I was afraid to wait for them to go on sale and they run out. They were insanely comfy and totally matched one of the four shirts I have that fit me right now. So yay! They look cuter on than in this picture. Much fancier than my usual flip flops.

I had some really cute pictures of Mac and Zoe and some food that I wanted to share but I cant get my pictures to go from my phone to my computer for some reason today so they may have to wait until Monday! I never said technology and I were besties.

Favorite Moments:

–My sister watched Zoe for me Monday while I went to the office. She texted me a few pictures throughout the day and when I came home, all the bottles were washed, the kitchen was cleaned, the trash had been taken out, all of Zoe’s laundry was washed and put away and her room was clean. The diapers and wipes were completely stocked on the changing table and Zoe had a bath and was in her jammies. How awesome is my sister???? When I laid down that evening completely relaxed I thought to myself, this must be what it feels like to come home to me every day. LOL.

–Speaking of Monday, lunch with my co-workers was awesome. We caught up and I made the comment to them that I really just appreciated being able to eat an entire meal without it being cold or having to stop half way through. The little things, you know?

–We got a new sofa!!!! Chris found a really good deal yesterday and we decided to pull the trigger! I am not sold on our layout right now, so I haven’t taken any pictures yet but it is nice!!! Real leather and power recliners. It even has a built in USB charger! This was much needed!

Favorite Find: We needed some new shower gel a few weeks ago and I have gotten away from purchasing ones from Bath and Body Works. They smell amazing but they are full of chemicals and really do nothing for my skin. I found this Soap and Glory one at Target and not only does it smell amazing…but it has a built in moisturizer in it! Score!!!! The best thing? It is only $7.99 and I don’t have to buy a million at once to feel like I got my money worth! Oh and added bonus that it has a pump!

Favorite Lust: I puffy heart these blush shoes!

And these Dolce Vita ones too

Basically give me all the blush pink things!

Just two more weekends left this February! Such a short month, right? This week was a whirlwind of getting work things done during Zoe naps and trying to stay afloat. My new same old same old I suppose.

Favorite Moments: Chris surprised me with all my favorites on Valentine’s Day.

Speaking of Valentine’s, did you see my cute Valentine this year?? Those are leg warmers she is wearing!!!

Aunt Tracy came by yesterday and spoiled Zoe with Valentine’s Day presents. Cant wait to see her in these shorts this summer! 6-9 month clothing looks so much bigger than her 0-3 that she is still sporting.

The little beanies are extra special because they are named Tracy and Zoe!!! (Well, with the wrong spellings but who cares.) How freaking sweet are these???

The “Tracey” one even says “I’ll always come by you when you call.” Just like Aunt Tracy will do for Zoe. Ugh I die of the sweetness. Zoe was super excited to see her yesterday.

While Tracy was here, I noticed that Z seaks me out in a room when other people are holding her. I love it!!! And the way she looks at me when I have her. I have two pictures of her from the side looking and I seriously cant handle the sweetness of her gazing at me. Oh the love!!!

Favorite Recipe: I have made buffalo chicken in the crock pot plenty of times, but this recipe is slightly different and looks amazing.

Healthy Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Sweet Potatoes. Our whole family loves this easy crock pot recipe! Perfect football food for game day and tailgates too. {whole 30, paleo} Recipe at http://wellplated.com | /wellplated/:

Favorite Beauty Find: I picked up a travel size of this on a whim awhile back at Target and am IN LOVE with it!!! First of all, it smells amazing. I was so not expecting that. Secondly? My face feels amazing after using it for two weeks. This will 100% be a repurchase staple for me. It has the tiniest amount of exfoliate in it without being harsh.

Favorite Lust: I want a few easy pieces that could be for lounging but you would look put together if you needed to run a few errands. I love this whole look and the top is on sale!

Today is my last day of leave. I cannot believe how fast this time has gone. I can’t tell you how many times I have cried over the last several weeks knowing that this day would come and I would have to go back to work and be away from Zoe. Up until this point, I haven’t been away from her for a single moment so Monday morning is going to be really really hard!!! Luckily, my boss is awesome and very understanding and he is going to let me work from home a few days a week until we get off the daycare waiting list. But Monday morning and a few days a week I will have to leave Zoe and go into the office. So I am going to soak up every moment of today and this weekend before the tears come Monday morning.

Favorite Moment: Getting to see how much Zoe grows and develops each day is the coolest!!! Last night we were hanging out in her chair and she starting touching the toys that I was holding in front of her. And then she actually turned a page in her book!!! Such a proud mommy moment over here!!!

Clearly all that learning was exhausting though, this was her about five minutes later…

Another favorite moment? How excited Mac was when Zoe and I picked him up from the groomers yesterday. He doesn’t look like a crazy homeless man anymore…

Favorite Recipe: Breakfast is the hardest meal for me. I want to eat healthy, so all the good breakfast foods are out. I am not eating any grains right now so that takes out even more options. I hate eggs. Hate them. So it doesn’t leave a lot of options left. This week I have been roasting butternut squash for breakfast. It might sound weird for breakfast, but it is delicious! I just cut them up into cubes pieces, toss in olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. I cook them at 400 for 30 minutes. Delicious!!!!

Favorite Lust: I saw this chair at Target when I was shopping with my mom this week. It is on sale for $30 off and it would be so cute in my office!!! I really liked where the back is positioned to. I am an odd bird and I like to sit straight up, I hate chairs that force you to lean back. How cute is this?
