35. After today, I am officially closer to 40 than I am 30. Gross. That’s alright though, my thirties have proven to be way better than my twenties so hopefully that means there is even more goodness in store for my 40s. Also, huge shout out to my birthday twin Kate!!! So cool that we were born on the same day, the same year. Our daughters are just a couple months apart too.
No big plans this weekend. I need to get to some more purging, cleaning, organizing, etc. Chris surprised me with an early birthday present. I LOVE IT! Chocolate chip cookies have already been made in it. Does anyone have any good pasta or bread recipes they love?? Send them my way!
Favorite Moments: I received this package in the mail from Andrea. She is seriously the sweetest ever! She is so thoughtful too, combining all of my favorite things: tacos, books and Target. I mean…if you could describe me in three words…that would be it.
In making the best of a cancelled lunch situation, I went and grabbed another Smoked Salmon Poke Bowl from Trader Joe’s. Seriously, so delicious!!! I also grabbed another box of the organic mini peanut butter cracker sandwiches for Zoe. That girl can eat an entire box of those in a weeks time if you let her.
Favorite Lust: I looked around Nordstrom Rack this week. I went for sunglasses but couldn’t find any I just love. I didn’t purchase anything, because I have this new thing where I think about it and if I still want to go back and get it, then I really did love it. I did find this sweater that must come home soon! The price is right and the color is gorgeous.
And these jeans were so flattering on! I love the stretch that Democracy offers. The come down a little longer on me and are PERFECT for fall booties.

Friday!!!! Considering I thought Tuesday was Thursday, I am so ready for today. I have some things I need to get done around the house this weekend, and I am hoping to finish up the Emily Giffin book I have been reading for the last month at the slowest pace ever. Zoe only has four more days left in her current class before she moves up. How is that even possible?! I need to start documenting these things with pictures. I didn’t get a picture of her when she moved to her current class. It sort of happened so fast without warning, I didn’t get to prepare. I want to take first and last day pictures from here on out.
Favorite Moments: : Laura and I lunched at Soho Social this week. It is one of our favorite places to go because they have waffle sweet potato fries with this amazing gorgonzola dip that we must order every time. We decided to split those and mini corn dogs…and Laura ordered wings and I brussels. Everything was SO delicious!
I have always loved the entrance, it is so homey feeling.
Zoe came home with her hair up in a ponytail Wednesday night. It was the cutest! She doesn’t sit still long enough for me to attempt this at home. Her teacher said that they play beauty parlor sometimes, and Zoe gets right in line with the older girls who have longer hair and wants hers fixed too. So sweet.
Last night when we got home, Zoe asked to go outside and blow bubbles. I told her if she still wanted to after she ate dinner we would. It was nice to do something fun on a Thursday night outside of our usual routine. Chris came out too, and the three of us ended up taking a little stroll around the neighborhood holding hands. Zoe saying “a hand” and putting her arms in the air towards us.These are the memories I know I will look back on when she is all grown up.
Favorite Recipe: These meatballs look so good and are weight watcher/diet friendly.
Favorite Lusts: I was at Target, perusing all the sections as one does, and I stumbled upon a table display that had Joy Lab sports bras and pants. I have the hardest time finding sports bras that fit AND are comfortable. You guys!!! This one is not only gorgeous, it is SO comfortable! Now if only they would run a sale, I want them in every print I can get! The pants fit really great as well, but they were slightly see through. But they have these long sleeve tops that have a long enough back so it wouldn’t matter and are so soft. How cute would that be?

This week was supposed to be a more laid back one, but lots of errands and meetings popped up. All I know is that I am glad it is Friday! When I dropped Zoe off at school this morning, they said they will be having a move up party in two weeks. I can’t believe it is time for her to move up again!
Favorite Moments: Laura and I checked out Kale Me Crazy for lunch on Monday. I ordered the half chicken pesto spinach wrap and a side salad. It had to be one of the freshest salads I have ever had. It tasted like they went and picked the lettuce and put it right on my plate. So yummy, and healthy!
I took some me time Wednesday afternoon, and went and got my hair cut and colored. This time I kept the same colors, but added in a little more blonde. I went at an appropriate time for once in my life, instead of waiting until I had a bunch of gross, stringy hair….so she didn’t have to take much off my length. Just about 1/2 inch and reshaped my layers. Loving it!
Favorite Budget Find: I was walking around Nordstrom Rack the other day and discovered they have the Natori bras there for around $25 depending on the style. That is half of the sales price of the anniversary sale right now!!! They didn’t have one in my exact size, but I tried one on just to see if they are worth the hype. They so are! I think I will have to order one online!

About a month or so ago, I noticed that Zoe has been calling me mommy instead of mama. I cant remember the exact day that it has happened….but they are so right. No one prepares you for the transitions! Who knew it would feel like such a big deal? Before I know it, she will probably be some sullen teenager saying mom in that annoyed, teenagery way. 🙁

Favorite Moments: Laura and I crossed another thing off our Birmingham Bucket List this week with burgers at Hero Doughnuts. The burger was sooooo delicious and Hero’s is such a cute spot.
Chris and I had a lunch date on Wednesday. We went to Sushi Village and then stopped by Bargain Hunt. Bargain Hunt left much to be desired, but the sushi was delicious! I love our day dates!
When I picked Zoe up from daycare on Wednesday, she had her hair up in a pony tail courtesy of one of her teachers. She was also wearing a jean skirt that day, and looked so cute and sassy. Unfortunately, she wasn’t totally herself when I picked her up. When we got home, I realized it was because she was at the beginning of a 24 hour bug. There is nothing sadder than seeing your child getting sick and being scared because she doesn’t understand what is going on 🙁 Luckily she seems to be feeling better today. You can tell in the picture I snapped of her pony tail when we got to the car that she wasn’t amused or feeling well.
We had lots of snuggles and fun yesterday though. Just look at her sweetness.
Favorite Recipe: Saw Defined Dish post this whole 30 approved recipe for buffalo potato salad. Ummmmm sign me right up!!! How perfect is this just in time for the 4th BBQs?!?!
Favorite Purchase: I grabbed one of these mesh back tank tops from Old Navy on a whim without even trying it on. I need some new casual tops that don’t look completely disgusting and clingy on me. Why do all work out tops need to cling? This one fits so good!!!! It is loose enough that I am comfortable and it is very flatting on. It is also doesn’t move around and get on my nerves either. Perfect combination! Plus the mesh back with the fly away opening is nice and airy on these hot and humid days. Fall, where you at? Basically I plan to buy them in every color.

Friday!!! For some reason, I couldn’t keep the day straight this week. I don’t think we have anything major planned this weekend. We have a few little errands to run and my sister mentioned taking my dad to breakfast one morning. She said that she has to see Zoe at some point this weekend…so I am sure we will figure something out.
Favorite Moments: Laura and I had lunch yesterday at Urban Cookhouse. I love that in addition to the many guilty pleasure restaurants we have here in Birmingham, we can still get a healthy DELICIOUS lunch to keep ourselves in check too. It is all about balance, am I right? I forgot to snap a picture of my salad, we were too busy catching up since she was out of town last week.
When I dropped Zoe off on Thursday, her teacher was chatting to me about how she is doing so well in class. Zoe is the second youngest in there, and I was so worried when we moved her up at the beginning of the year that she might not be ready for the big kid class just yet. They are treated much more like toddlers than babies in that class. I have to say, after the initial adjustment period, she has just thrived!!! Last month they did some testing with the older kids, but Zoe was too young for the test to matter so I didn’t have a parent/teacher conference scheduled. Yesterday her teacher told me that there is nothing specific that she can pinpoint that I need to work on with Zoe. She does great sitting in her desk, eats her lunch with a spoon and no assistance, enjoys craft time, participates in circle time (when they learn), is the biggest helper in the class at clean up time and naps great. She doesn’t throw her food on the floor and they aren’t having to get on to her about being mean to other kids. Her afternoon teacher always tells me she is such a delight. This makes my mama heart swell so big! I know that Chris and I are so very blessed to have such an amazing little kiddo. It really has been so fun looking back over the last several months and seen how much she has grown and develop. I am going to be sad when she moves up in August, all of her teachers have been so amazing this year.
Favorite Recipe: How delicious does this look? I love that more grocery stores are carrying different kinds of veggie noodles already spiralized! Saves so much work, time and cleaning. The ingredient list for this recipe isn’t too long.
Favorite Purchase: I have a confession to make. I had never been in Athleta before. I just assumed it was tailored towards skinny fit people who worked out a lot. I was wrong. I mean, it is mostly workout type clothing…but their sizing is more than generous and their quality is amazing!!! I went in there the other day not sure what to expect. Honestly, I was nervous to walk in. How silly is that??? I thought for sure I would feel so out of place. The two sales people that I interacted with were so inviting and friendly. I was surprised by how many things I liked as I looked around. They were running a huge sale on swimwear and I found the most amazing swim shorts!!! I have some tankinis that I plan to wear in the pool and stuff, but I wanted something that provided more coverage for chasing a toddler around on the windy beach. These shorts were a price I expect to see at Target, but made so so so so much better!!!! I seriously cant sing their praise enough, and I definitely plan to be a regular shopper now.
