Weekend Shenanigans

Oh, hey there Monday. You sure did come quick!!! Time for Weekend Shenanigans!!!

Things that happened this weekend:

I cleaned the floors, vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen and dusted the whole house.

We watched Georgia lose to Tennessee.

We watched Alabama suck ass for nearly 3 quarters before finally deciding to show up to play some football and take over the Arkansas game.

I cooked Cheesy Jalapeno Pinwheels and Pastry Pizza Wraps.

Three loads of laundry were washed, folded/ironed and put away.

I caved and bought a bag of fall peanut M&M’s and proceeded to eat half of it in a matter of hours. Clearly demonstrating no self control.

We started three new TV shows…

quantico-abc

Quantico – This show is about a class of FBI trainees and there time at Quantico. The show flashes from the present to the past, as one of the students becomes a suspect in a bombing and there are flashbacks to how this came about.

Should you watch it – While this might be my least favorite of the three we started, I am really enjoying it. I like it better than Chris I think.

Limitless

Limitless – Based on the movie, this show is about a guy that takes the drug NZT and joins in with the FBI to see why his body does not have the same horrible side effects as others who have taken it. Little does the FBI know, he is working with someone to get shots and that is why it works for him.

Should you watch it – While it can be a little cheesy at times, I really like this. I would say absolutely watch it if you have seen the movie. I haven’t seen the movie and I still enjoy it, so the movie isn’t a requirement. Bradley Cooper stars in the first episode to pass the torch to the TV show, so there is that.

blindspot

Blind Spot– A girl wakes up in a bag in Time Square completely naked and covered in tattoos with no memory of who she is or what happened to her. There is a tattoo of an FBI agent’s name on her back and she is sent to him. They start following clues from her tattoos to find out who she is and what happened to her.

Should you watch it – Absolutely!!! This is by far my favorite of the three and I can’t wait for the rest of the episodes!!!

Things that didn’t happen this weekend:

The back yard didn’t get cut.

I didn’t finish the book I was planning on having done for tomorrow’s link up.

No organizing of my clothes took place.

No healthy eating was had.

No day hit even 10,000 steps on the ol’ Fitbit.

How I feel about today…

Linking up with Biana. I hope everyone has a great week!!!

Weekend Shenanigans -The One With a Surprise!

*Our internet was down this morning so this post is brought to you by the WordPress app on my iPhone. Please excuse any wonky business*

The first weekend of October is here and gone, crazy right?!?! This weekend was a special weekend for me. My mom turns 50 on the 6th and my sister and I wanted to do something special for her. We decided that we were going to surprise her with a lunch out and an entire day is just hanging out as a family with no time constraints and playing board games!

We coordinated our plans with our step dad, who told her that he was taking her out for a birthday lunch on Saturday with two of my step sisters. Tracy and I planned to meet off her exit a few minutes before hand so we could all arrive at the same time. My nieces and nephews got to her door first and when she opened it, she was surprised to see them. But it’s not unlike my sister to drop by if she is out that way. When she was hugging Cooper, I walked around the corner and her mouth dropped opened. She immediately was like wait, what’s going on here?! My sister and I were carrying in food and games and she said so we aren’t going out to lunch? Tracy said oh no we are, but then we are coming back here to spend the entire day with you!

We had to take two cars to the restaurant because there were so many of us, when we were on our way there she texted us ” you two got me!!!!” We played Pictionary, Outburst, and Scatagories that afternoon and feasted on all the food that Tracy and I prepared.

We also got to see our fur sisters who have gotten huge since the last time we saw them!!!

  Molly and Maggie

Here’s a throw back of them to last Christmas

My step dad is a huge Alabama fan as well, so the game was on in the background and I got to catch glimpses of Alabama pulling out a big W over Georgia. Such a great game!

My mom was completely surprised and we truly had such an amazing time! When it was time to leave Saturday night, she had walked us out and she teared up when she expressed her gratitude for the day. Of course, I started tearing up too! I feel like we are always rushing around trying to get things done and get from here to there that we don’t get to spend near enough time just hanging out and living in the moment. We all vowed that another day like this needs to happen soon!!!

On Sunday, Chris and I went to one of our nephew’s baseball games and did some grocery shopping. We watched the first two episodes of Scream Queens and tried Grandfathered as well. Then we binged on How to Get Away With Murder because we didn’t get past the first two episodes last year when it came out. Such a good show!!!

I took a day off work today to chaperon my nephew’s class to the pumpkin patch!!!! We are both so excited!!! Here we are on Saturday gearing up for our field trip….

Deep Thought Confessions and a Link Up Announcement!

–The other day I was reading a blog post by a twenty something. I don’t recall what the post was about but I remember her saying something about graduating college in 2012. While I have no desire to go back to my twenties, it made me think. I didn’t much appreciate college while I was there. I didn’t absorb everything I could because I just wanted to take classes to graduate and move on to my real life. I think college would be better served for the mind of a 30 or 40 something. Someone who knows who they are and is comfortable with themselves enough to get the most out of each class. Thoughts? #toocoolforschool

–I am deeply disturbed by all this Planned Parenthood crap about selling fetal body parts. Um, it is illegal to sell body parts. Period. #fuckedup

–I finished reading The Art of Racing in the Rain the other day and it has really changed my perception of what my dogs may be thinking/feeling. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could read their thoughts?? #dogsarepeopletoo

–I looked out the window at the full moon on Friday evening and thought to myself…well that makes sense! Have you ever noticed that weird shit happens on the full moon? That people are a little off or moody? #fullmoon #werewolves

Thinking of the full moon got me thinking about astrology. Astrology got me thinking about how I sometimes identify with being a Leo and yet am complete opposite at the same time. Then it got me wondering about all of my blogging friends and if they identify with their sign or not? I thought….what a great topic of a one time link up!!!

Link up with Laura and I for the What’s Your Sign link up, Wednesday, August 19th!

What's Your Sign Link Up Button

You can write about whether or not you identify with your sign. If you are a fan of astrology or think it is total bullshit. Anything that deals with the topic is fine.

Confessions in ecard

Lol yep this is me. I would rather hang out with my dogs most of the time. Only a select couple of people I enjoy hanging out with.

◆I LOOOVE this because it's SO true!!! :D Although, I'd have to add in class...can't forget in class... Way back when (;D)...I'd definitely have to own up to "a coupla" mini-slumbers while trapped in a lecture hall...subjected to a BORING lesson or two (or a few). ◆

Bahahaha!

yup

I Smell Friday!

Oh Thursday. You are so close to the weekend that I can smell it!!!

Some thoughts for this Thursday

–I am honored to be guest posting over on Pamela’s blog A Little Glitter today! Go show her some love!

–I posted a book review late yesterday, as if you didn’t add enough to your to-read list already this week!

–I went to the dermatologist yesterday for my face. You guys, why did I wait so long??? They gave me an injection for one of my trouble spots and I woke up this morning to it being 75% gone! They also gave me some prescriptions for topical solutions to try and told me there was no reason to spend lots of money on face wash since you are just washing it down the drain anyways. I have heard that before, but it clicks when a professional tells you, you know?

–Clueless turns 20 this year. Wow!! Check out this article on the premier. Oh 90’s, you were so cool!

–Speaking of the 90’s, how 90’s was your bedroom? You can take this quiz to find out. Oh, memories!!!

I hope your Thursday is fabulous!!! Linking up with Joey.

Thursday or Friday Eve

What can we say about Thursdays? We are so close to the end of the week that we can taste it. If I am going to go out after work, chances are it is a Thursday. There is always Thirsty Thursday, which gives you a great excuse to drink! But if you ask me, I just like to refer to Thursday as Friday Eve.

And since it is Friday Eve, I want you to go head over to Kristen’s blog today where I am guest posting!!! Kristen is making all of us jealous with her Instagram pictures of her and KC gallivanting all over Europe. I am trying to convince her that she needs to come to Birmingham some time too!!! So head on over to her blog so that I can convince her…and you….to come down south and let me show you around. Blogger Road Trip sounds awesome, right???

Just to prepare yourself, there is going to be some food porn, and beer porn! (Do you even know me at all??) And I bet I will also shock you with how much there is to do around here!
