Weekend Shenanigans

Go ahead and mark the last weekend of June in the books, as crazy as that sounds. This weekend was busy busy busy so let’s just jump in, shall we?

Friday afternoon started off with a really strong storm knocking our power out in the neighborhood. The downed trees didn’t help. I am glad Chris left work when he did, he had to go in the back way because this is what the front entrance looked like….

Shortly after he came in the back, some more trees fell blocking that way too! I am just thankful everything is well with us and our house. It did suck pretty bad to be without power for about 6-7 hours with a baby, but honestly…we made the best of it. We had lots of playtime and Zoe took a nap for at least 2 of those hours.

Saturday morning was gross, but by the afternoon the rain had cleared out. We headed over to Chuy’s to grab some lunch. First time we have been in probably a year? Crazy how long it has been. The food was delicious, but the service left much to be desired.

Zoe was less than amused when I sat her in the car seat so I could eat. I cant blame her, it was delicious!

We headed to Bargain Hunt after and scooped up some amazing deals on stuff for Zoe!

She likes to check out her clothes when we get home, just like I do! I think it is safe to say the sit to stand toy was a hit, look at those eyes!!!

And can we talk about how adorable the back of her romper is? STOP IT!

Sunday morning, my sister, Zoe and I took my Dad to Cracker Barrel for breakfast for Father’s Day. It is sort of a tradition that we started a few years ago. There is no denying that Chris is Zoe’s father….but those eyes….those are Brownfield Blues for sure!

Zoe and I did some grocery shopping after breakfast, and when we came back she took a nap while I tackled the front and side yard cutting. I still need to do the back, thanks to the rain. Ugh. Sunday evening heated up some food from Saturday night and settled in for a few episodes of Bosch. It was a fabulous weekend that ended too soon.

Weekend Shenanigans

This weekend went by so quickly! Though, don’t they all? While I didn’t get done all that I had planned...grass I am looking at you in all your jungle glory.…it was a good weekend!

After a very long time of researching, Chris decided he wanted to get a new TV for our living room on Saturday. After Zoe’s morning nap we headed over to Best Buy and met his sister over there to look at TVs. The one he thought they had wasn’t there and he ended up going with something else. It is five inches bigger than our other TV and I can certainly tell a difference! The jury is still out on whether Chris likes it or not. He notices so many things that I don’t when watching shows.

Saturday afternoon, Chris’s friend came over to watch the Electric Daisy Carnival with Chris. The guys grilled out steaks and they were delicious!

They had also picked up some sushi from Publix that I joked around saying it was sketchy, but it was actually pretty damn good!

Sunday we got our meal planning and grocery shopping done, finished watching House of Cards, and celebrated Chris’s first father’s day. I made baked ziti for dinner.

The rest of the weekend looked like this….

In the bottom right picture, Zoe had decided she was too cool for a nap and then kept laying her head down during playtime because she couldn’t hang. We’ve all been there, right???

And just like that, it is back to reality. I through together a three bean and cucumber greek salad last night for my lunches this week. If it is good, I will share the recipe! It was a pretty easy dump and mix one, and we could all use some of that in our lives. I hope you have a great week! Linking up with Biana.

Weekend Shenanigans

Summer weather is in full swing down south. It was quite toasty this weekend while I was trying to cut the grass! Or you know, just breathe. How was your weekend? Ours started off with Zoe’s 6 month appointment on Friday. Everything is looking good, but unfortunately for Zoe….it was time for some more blood work and shots. Poor kid. She just wanted cuddles and lots of love the rest of the day. I didn’t hate it.

Chris had to work Friday night into Saturday morning, so after Zoe went to bed I finished reading Everything, Everything and Hello, Sunshine. I will have those along with all my other books for the month in the link up tomorrow!

Saturday after Zoe’s morning nap, we headed out to meet up with my mom, one of my nieces and sister for lunch. We all had chopped salads at Jim n Nicks and chatted for awhile. Then my mom, Zoe and I headed out to do some shopping! We went to the outlets and spent entirely too much time in Osh Kosh/Carters. Zoe is growing so fast and I had a good supply of clothes up until now but it is time to stock up on the next size. The Loft also had their dresses for $29.99 so  I grabbed two. I am literally having to replace all my dresses from the last few years. They were all worn, stretched, misshaped, etc so it is nice to have some new ones in rotation.

Sunday was filled with grass cutting, grocery shopping, meal prepping, watching the new X BoxOneX Preview with Chris, and reruns of Eastbound and Down.

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend!!! Linking up with Biana.

Weekend Shenanigans

Oh weekends, why must you be so short??? Why can’t a work hours go by as fast as a Saturday afternoon? These are the questions I ponder every Sunday evening as the clock strikes closer and closer to bedtime.

I had a fantastic Friday since my nephews stayed with Zoe and I all day. I got lots of work done, Zoe took her normal naps and the boys had some video game and down time while I worked. And then we took a break and played a game of Life. We had so much fun playing!!! Friday evening, we packed it up and headed to meet my sister for an early Mexican dinner at Mi Casita. It was delicious, as always.

Saturday during Zoe’s morning nap, I cut the front and side yard. It was so hot and so humid I thought I might just kill over a few times. Woof. I got it done though and was so proud of myself! During her afternoon nap I cleared out the remain “storage” type items that were sitting in my office so that I can finally start making it look like an office. You know, the one I have been working out of the last five months and ignoring the disaster that was everywhere.

After all that work, I figured I deserved a break so I played some Mario Kart on the Switch! I was determined to win a gold cup on each of the tracks and I so did. I unlocked tons of new car options. You know, life goals.

Saturday evening we met up with Chris’s parents at Crazy Horse, one of our favorite restaurants. You won’t find a better steak anywhere. We enjoyed catching up with them, and Zoe was glad to get out of the house for a little while.

Sunday was meal planning, grocery shopping and just laying low. I started reading Hello, Sunshine and got about 40% through the book and Zoe and I read about ten of her books too. Chris and I have been tearing through the newest season of House of Cards. Love that show.

And just like that, the weekend was over and it is back to reality. How was your weekend? Linking up with Biana. Let’s do this, Monday!

Weekend Shenanigans – The One With the Extra Day

Can we just all agree that three day weekends are now a thing that happens every week? Wouldn’t that be wonderful? All in favor? ME!!!! Seriously though, this weekend was fabulous! Also, this might have been the most infuriating blog post I have ever written. WordPress is being totally lame and every picture that I upload has an error about ten times and I have to keep renaming them and trying again and I was about to just pull my hair out and quit! I had so many pictures to put in here but I am thinking that maybe half of them will make it before I throw my laptop across the room. Anyone else having WordPress issues???

Friday night, Zoe and I watched Secret Life of Pets. What a cute movie!!!!

I tried the Watermelon Mint Lemonade at ChickFila and I insist that you must try this ASAP! SO GOOD!!!!

We went over to one of my co-workers this weekend, Chris was helping him set up better wireless internet throughout his house. Him and his wife have two little girls, one of them is just a month younger than Zoe…so we had a little play date. It was Zoe’s first time being around someone her own age and it was so much fun! I have learned that she sympathy cries. Whenever another baby cries or squeals…so does Zoe. It is too sweet. It was nice getting to meet his wife and kids since I have heard so much about them over the years.

Saturday evening Chris’s friend came over to our house and we grilled out. I forgot to take a picture of my filet, but it was sooooo good!!! I finished reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and started reading Renee Carlino’s new book!!! You will remember, she is the author of Swear on this Life. I am only about 10% in but it is good so far.

After cutting the grass and moving around all day, I realized that I hit all three of my goals on my Apple Watch Saturday evening. Something so satisfying about seeing all the circles complete.

Sunday Zoe and I did our grocery shopping at Target and Publix. Since Publix was a shorter trip to just grab some fresh produce, I decided to try out our shopping cart cover since Zoe has been sitting up unassisted really well the last two weeks. She LOVED it!!! It was like a ride at an amusement park to her. She was giggling and happy squealing. She was quite the little social butterfly too. Everyone we passed commented on how adorable and happy she looked and of course she put on a show giving them all the smiles. Shes going to be a little social butterfly I think.

She basically thinks she is a big girl now. Holding her own bottle. Sitting up all over the place unassisted. They grow too fast!

Today I am going to get a little work done and Chris went to the office for a little bit. Not sure if we are going to stay in or go out this afternoon. I think the weather is supposed to be kind of sucky. We shall see. Either way, make sure you take some time to reflect on those who have came before us and those who are fighting currently to give us all the freedoms that seem to be taken for granted these days with all the complaining on social media.
