Weekend Shenanigans

Did anyone watch the debate last night and wonder how either of these candidates have gotten this far??? I felt like I was watching some five year olds go back and forth blaming each other for things they did and not focusing on anything real. Such a disgrace. There were several times I literally hid my head under my cover because I couldn’t deal. I guess I watched my scary thing for October. Can’t we all just agree to vote for a third party now? Woof.

Anyways, this weekend started out with a delicious lunch at Chicken Salad Chick on Friday with a sweet friend! I love that they always give you a cookie with your meal. Who doesn’t want a cookie?

Saturday morning I got the house cleaning knocked out early and then had a mini heart attack when I realized that Mac wasn’t in our backyard where I had left him. That little stinker crawled out of the tiniest infraction in our fencing and had himself a little adventure. I drove around in my car for a few minutes looking for him while Chris stayed close and searched on foot. Luckily, Chris spotted him trying to sneak back in to our backyard like the little asshole has done this before and we didn’t notice. When I got back home and picked him up all the adrenaline came rushing to me and I started shaking. Damn dog, worrying me like that. Needless to say, he isn’t allowed outside anymore alone until the fence is fixed.

After that whole ordeal, I got the nursery taped off and prepped to be painted. Again. My sister came over around 1pm and we got right to it. It looks SOOOOOO much better now and actually gray!!! I am really happy with the results. Our trim and doors look better with this tone of gray over the cooler tone that we had. I am going to tell any of you pregnant women out there right now, do NOT wait until your 32nd week to paint. Holy balls was I in some pain. Sadly I was huffing and puffing like I have never worked out a day of my life or something by just rolling. Baby girl is seriously crowding my lungs!! (And all my other organs.) My sister forced me to take several breaks. At one point she literally ripped the roller right out of my hands and told me to go sit. So thankful for her help!

The rest of Saturday, I parked my ass on the recliner watching football and didn’t move. Mac didn’t seem to mind. He was exhausted from running away, apparently.

I made some zucchini pizza bites for Chris a few times this weekend, they turned out really good and were so easy!!! All you do is turn your oven on to Broil, slice up some thin zucchini slices, add just a little bit of sauce, cheese and sliced pepperoni and broil on the top rack for about 3 to 4 minutes. Perfection!

Sunday I read for a little while then headed out to get our grocery shopping done. I haven’t been sleeping well so I felt the need to stop for a small iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts on the way!

Weekend Shenanigans – First of October

Oh, hey there October!!! It is complete insanity to me that we woke up to Saturday to October 1st. I don’t even know how it is possible that this year is ten months in. Time is just flying. I cam to the realization this weekend that we have eight more baby free weekends left. What?? Well, that is assuming that she decides to come on or before my due date. Both excitement and panic came with that thought. I am so excited to finally meet her but I have a lot of stuff I need to get done around the house before then!

Speaking of getting stuff done, that was the name of my game this weekend! Friday night I came home, made a salad and relaxed for a little while because this past week was exhausting. All of a sudden the baby has me craving salads. Finally. I wasn’t mad about it.

img_0089

Saturday morning I did the usual cleaning and Chris put together the crib!!! He seriously had this thing together in about 15 minutes, I was impressed.

img_0112

Meanwhile, pay no attention to the wall color behind you. The more and more this paint dried, the more and more it looked light blue instead of gray. I am so pissed. Chris said that it looked blue to him the night we painted in there and I didn’t want to believe it but he is right. I don’t want a blue baby girl nursery, damnit. We are thinking about painting that damn room again. UGH! Lesson learned? Gray is a tricky ass color and next time I need to just consult with my BIL who is an expert in all things paint.

After all that cleaning and building, we decided to head downtown while we still have carefree weekends left! We visited an old friend, World of Beer. I ordered a non-alcoholic craft root beer and snacked on Tavern Taters while we watched some of the Georgia vs Tennessee game (ughhhhh what an ending right????) and the Auburn game.

Then we decided to head to Pies and Pints to visit a friend who was working there and it was their soft opening. This place is awesome and I cant wait to go back and try their pizza. I ordered a salad and Chris had wings. We sat out on the patio and caught the first half of the Alabama game.

Sunday morning we were up and out the door early to meet my dad and sister at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We celebrated my dads birthday and I had a hot chocolate, hashbrown casserole, cinnamon apples, bacon and biscuits because yummmm.

img_0107

img_0108

We had a great time visiting with my family. Cracker Barrel seriously has the cutest stuff in their stores! And so many baby things!! They even had a few cute boutique looking clothing items I wouldn’t mind picking up. We left from there fat and happy and headed to the grocery store to get that knocked out. When we got home, I meal prepped and then started gathering stuff to give to my sister to sale in her yard sale in two weeks. I had to stack it all in the nursery for now because I don’t know where else to put it.

img_0113

Most of this stuff came out of the other spare room which has been on my list to clean out forever so I felt super accomplished to have gotten such a start on it. That room is so overwhelming because everything piles up in there when it doesn’t have anywhere else to go and I want to make that room an office space for me so I need it all to go! I hope to have doubled that pile by next weekend!

The rest of Sunday was spent catching up on our TV shows and I got a few chapters of a book read. It’s hard to want to get anything done when you have a furry little man sitting in your lap begging for pets. Does Mac know how to spend a weekend or what?

Weekend Shenanigans – The One Where I Stayed Out Late

You guys!!! I checked the weather this morning and I am really really hoping that it is true!!! They say it will drop in to the 70’s a few days this week. The 70’s!! After about three months straight of nothing but 90’s + I think I am going to have to pull out a jacket or something!

img_0033

This weekend I….

–Ran through the Jimmy Johns drive thru on Friday at lunch and then walked around Babies R Us because that is my life right now. I loved every second of it. My order is always the #12 Beach Club with no tomato or mayo, add mustard and a side of salt & vinegar chips. I never stray. This sandwich has avocado on it…why would I order anything else???

img_9987

–Friday night, Chris and I stopped by his parents house for a few minutes then decided to have an impromptu date night at Crazy Horse in Argo on the way home. Crazy Horse is legit one of my favorite restaurants and it is so close to us! I wasn’t wanting a huge steak or anything that late, so I ordered the Crazy Fries and O.M.G. just look at these things…

img_9996

They were having a special dinner that evening with The Chateau, a 16 ounce filet. Chris couldn’t resist. That thing looked so amazing and if he wouldn’t have ordered it rare…I might have stolen a few bites. No rare meat when you have a baby on board! I have never seen such a big filet before! Chris ended up bringing like half of it home.

img_9998

We stayed out late guys!!! We didn’t leave Crazy Horse until 11:30pm!!! Crazy talk for this old lady these days, let me tell you! We have become chatty with the owner and some of the staff there though and we were watching football and having a good chat so it didn’t seem as late as it really was. When we got home, I ended up staying up and watching a few episodes of House Hunters and didn’t go to bed until 1:30am. Don’t worry, I was still up bright and early a few hours later. Baby girl never lets me sleep in.

–We stayed in Saturday and watched football alllll day long! I was super pleased with the Alabama game. Ashamed of how Georgia played Ole Miss and holy cow did you see the end of the Auburn game?!?!? Them and their one second man. I could hear my Auburn friends screaming all the way over here. I had gone to Publix that morning to pick up food for the day and when I was walking to the register, there was a sweet old lady handing out ice cream samples. She saw me and my pregnant self waddling towards her and stopped me with a cup of it and I just had to get it. It was so good! Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream!!!! I know it sounds weird, but trusssst me. SO GOOD!

–This weekend we got a lot of stuff done. I put the stroller and car seat together, cleaned out the cabinets and drawers in the master bathroom and got rid of a good deal of things. Moved all the towels from the hall linen closet to the master bathroom to make room for baby items! Discarded six more items out of my closet, read through five magazines, and cleaned up random areas of the house. We also went to Home Depot, Best Buy and the grocery store yesterday. I got the glitter Kate Spade case for my new Iphone and I am obsessed. The glitter moves around!!!!!!!!!

–We finished watching all of One Tree Hill, started This Is Us (love) and watched all our shows that came back last week. And it basically looked like this…

Weekend Shenanigans – The One Where We Painted

This weekend I….

Got creeped out after downloading iOS 10 to my phone. When it finally finished installing and came back on, it told me that my car was parked close to my office. Ummm how do you know that is my office??? #creeperstatus

img_9920

Celebrated National Guacamole Day the only way I knew how, guac at Babalu! I also finally tried their burger which also had guac on it. This burger was delicious!

img_9941

img_9952

Made a ton of football party food, but only got a picture of the salami cream cheese roll up that I did. What isn’t pictured? Bourbon Maple Kielbasa, seven layer dip with tortilla chips, french onion dip with potato chips, and cake batter dip with Nilla Wafers. Do you see a dip theme? I have a dip problem, ok.

img_9942

Laura was the bestest friend that there ever was on Saturday and came over to help me paint the nursery. Her husband and baby boo hung out with the boys and watched football while we slaved away on the two coats of gray paint that now cover the nursery walls. Note to pregnant women, paint the nursery earlier on in your pregnancy than I did. Trying to bend over or sit on the floor and then get back up proves to be a difficult task when your stomach is the size of a truck. Thanks to Laura for doing all the climbing and tedious brush work! The roller was work out enough for me.

img_9934

I watched Alabama pull off a win over Ole Miss. Finally! And the Steelers also won this weekend, so yay!!!! (Sorry, Erin.)

img_9947

And after all that hard work painting and rooting on Alabama, Chris tells me Saturday night that he doesn’t like the paint color because it looks blue not gray. MEN!!! I sure am glad that Laura and I patted ourselves on the back when we were done. The color is gray by the way…

Sunday was meal planning, grocery shopping in the pouring down rain and food prepping for the week. We also had baked pork chops for dinner. The rest of the weekend looked a lot like this….

I am super excited that Big Bang Theory comes back on tonight!!! Something to look forward to on a Monday, right? I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We are down to two weeks left in September, so let’s make the most of them!

Weekend Shenanigans – Leopard is a Neutral

And someone we are about to be mid-way through September already. What?!?! I suppose it is hard to believe seeing as how it was 100 degrees here on Saturday. It is all they could talk about on ESPN2 during the Alabama game.

Friday I stopped and grabbed my first Sea Salt Caramel Frappuccino of the season! And a pumpkin sugar cookie because Friday. Duh.

img_9833

For lunch, I ran over to Brookwood and had a philly cheesesteak and cheese fries, then perused Target as one does. I found the cutest little snow leopard print shoes for baby girl on clearance!!! Leopard is totally a neutral, so these will look so cute on her!

img_9849

Saturday morning I was up early doing a deep clean in the house. You know the cleaning where you finally get that nasty white gooey stuff out to clean your flat top stove, wipe down cabinets, and clean extra good everywhere? Yeah that one. The rest of the day was spent watching football, of course!! My sister stopped by for a little bit and brought baby girl some books, a pair of Christmas pajamas and some safety items to start the long process of baby proofing this house.

baby-stuff

I showed her all the stuff that was gifted to us from Chris’s company, the paint color we plan to get on the wall next week, and our crib which was delivered Friday!!! The color is perfection and I can’t wait to see it set up in that room! Chris and I thought it was a little weird that someone drew a baby on the crib box…

img_9838

Sunday morning I put all the baby stuff in to the closet to get the room ready for painting, meal planned, grocery shopped and food prepped. Of course, I had to stop at Dunkin Donuts for a little sustenance. Is this not the saddest frosted donut you ever did see? Hardly anything on it!

img_9855

I made potato corn chowder for lunches this week and some flour-less chocolate fudge cookies that I will share the recipe for soon! They were so good! The rest of the day we finished watching the rest of PLL for this season and got half way through season 8 of One Tree Hill. There was also lots of this.
