Weekend Shenanigans

And just like that, the middle of June was here and gone! We couldn’t seem to let it pass without being busy. Here’s what I got up to!

Friday for lunch Laura and I hit up one of our favorite spots, Shiki. We started off with crab angels. Because duh, crab angels!!! I had the coconut soup and massaman chicken for my meal. Delicious!!!!! This place seriously has the best crab angels around and everything is always so tasty with friendly service.

Chris grilled out some delicious burgers for dinner on Friday evening and I made some veggies to go with them. He has become quite the grill master!

Saturday morning we were up and out the door early for…..car shopping!!! I had seen an awesome deal on the car I had in mind so we started off at Carmax right after they opened. Wouldn’t you know someone was having my car transferred to them. Boo!!! That’s what I get for not calling and holding when I saw it. We walked out of there with disappoint but hope that there would be something down the road. We had stopped at several other dealerships and they either didn’t have anything we liked, or wouldn’t work with us at all on pricing/trade-in. We had two people try to talk us into a bigger payment, but we knew not to play their games. We were about to give up and had lunch at J. Alexander’s.

While we were there, I kept thinking about a car I had seen online that was located in Hartselle. A pretty far drive from where we were. But I just kept thinking about it…something telling me we needed to go check this place out.

I called up there to make sure it was still there based on our previous luck of the day. Wouldn’t you know someone had it out on a test drive and ended up purchasing it?! WTF? But the guy said he had another one that was a little nicer and maybe he could work with us on the price. So off we went! This place was family owned and everyone was super nice and I walked out of there with a shiny new beauty that I felt good about.

Peace out Nissan Rogue, helloooooooooo Ford Explorer!!! This baby is fully loaded and has the 20 inch wheels. Nadine likey very much!

Sunday morning I was up and out there door at 7:30am to go meet my sister and dad for breakfast at Cracker Barrel for Father’s Day. We asked ourselves why we don’t do that more often?? It was so nice just chatting over breakfast.

I went grocery shopping on my way home and the rest of the day was spent food prepping, giving myself a pedicure, blogging and watching House of Cards.

Chris and I just started binging on it last weekend and we are already in season three. Why haven’t we watched this before???? it is so good!!!

And just like that the weekend was over and it is time to go back to work! Amazing how quickly that time goes, am I right? I hope you all have a fabulous week!

Weekend Shenanigans

This is going to be a quick weekend shenanigans post today, as I am off to my nephew’s kindergarten graduation this morning!!! Six year olds in graduation gowns are the cutest thing I ever did see.

My weekend started off with a quick shopping trip to Target for buy one get one 50% off dresses! Did you take advantage of that deal? Also, as of yesterday if you use Cartwheel…the women’s clearance apparel is an additional 20% off. Holla!!!

After cleaning the house Saturday morning, Chris and I were off to Avondale for a late lunch. I wanted to take him to Rowe’s but they were changing from the lunch to dinner menu when we got there and the kitchen was closed…so we went across the street to Melt instead. Yum!!! I ordered the Mac n Cheese Melt. It always hits the spot. That’s right, a grilled cheese with Mac n Cheese inside. What more can you ask for in life?

We then headed to Bargain Hunt where Chris scored an amazing deal on a 27 inch monitor for his new computer he is building. Then we did the adult thing and went to Home Depot for gardening supplies. We were walking back to the car and Chris was like ummmm we just bought a bag of rocks and dirt. Yes, yes we did.

Sunday morning I headed out to the store to go grocery shopping early so that I could get ready for my sister to come over and help me plant my tomatoes and peppers. Hence the rocks and dirt.

I put the empty dog cage to good use in our backyard. I dont know why the previous owners had it and the fenced in yard? We let our dogs roam around free back there and the cage keeps anything else out. Cant wait to make homemade spaghetti sauce and salsa with these tomatoes!!!!

Sunday night finished off with a plate of homemade fettuccine alfredo and Scandal and Grey’s. Anyone else a little disappointed in some of the season finales this year? They just short of fall flat. And I hated the way Good Wife and Grandfathered ended. I am the kind of person who needs closure, you know?

Weekend Shenanigans

And just like that the middle of May is here!!! Weren’t we just asking how it could possibly be May already and now it is half gone?

Friday started out with lunch at Chicken Salad Chick. One of our Friday Lunch CLub girls is back after being out of the country for a few months, so it was great to get to see her!

Friday evening on my way home, I stopped by American Cookie Company to pick up Chris’s birthday cake that I ordered. Pay the up-charge to front the whole cake, it’s worth it!!!

IMG_8713

Saturday morning I cooked up a big birthday breakfast for Chris, and we hung around the house watching tv, playing video games, etc. We then decided to head out for a late lunch at Hickory Tavern. We split some crab dip, and then I had a side salad and a cup of loaded potato soup which was amazing!!!

We then headed over to Paramount to meet up with Chris’s parents on their patio and sip drinks and enjoy the amazing weather we were having. I couldn’t resist a root beer float!

Saturday night, Chris’s parents had the family over for a birthday dinner. The food and company were amazing, as always.

Sunday was a day of meal planning, running errands, grocery shopping and then parking it in front of the TV to relax and eat some Moe’s BBQ that I picked up on the way home from the store.

I hope the birthday boy enjoyed his weekend! I know I did. Chris ordered some super fun floats for all of us for our beach trip in July, and now that is all I can think about. It seems so far away!!!

Weekend Shenanigans

It has been a warm, but stormy weekend here in the south with more rain expected today. I suppose April Showers wanted one last hurrah.

Friday I met up with a friend for lunch at Ashley Mac’s. It was delicious as always. I figured it was Friday and said fuck it and ordered us some strawberry mini cupcakes too. True story – I only eat cupcakes for the frosting. These minis were perfect, a ton of frosting and a little bite of cake!

Friday evening I came home to a brand new grill on our back deck and Chris and his friend grilling steaks. Good thing they started early, as the skies opened up shortly after they brought the food inside. The wind was insane at 60 mph. You could literally see sheets of pollen being pulled from the trees and our deck chairs even blew around a little.

Saturday morning I got the house cleaned while Chris took his car for new tires and brakes. We met back up and headed down to Chuck E Cheese for our nephew’s birthday party. Chris and I got hooked on a new game where we each hit the jackpot! We gave all of our tickets to our nephew of course!

We headed back to the house for Chris to grill us some hamburgers before the sky opened up again. These burgers were amazing!!!!

I have a feeling that grill was a great investment, especially with summer coming!! Someone is already a grill master. Clearly he needs a hat and apron.

Sunday was all about meal planning, grocery shopping, meal prepping and watching all of our shows. We even started a new to us show, Life in Pieces. Anyone watch it? Fawn Moscato is in it!!! It’s pretty funny.

Other things that happened this weekend…

I started a new book, The Girl From Summer Hill

The Girl from Summer Hill (Summer Hill, #1)

And I got a notification that I have saved almost $400 with my Target Cartwheel app. Holla!!!

Weekend Shenanigans

Well hey there, last week of April!!! I feel like we went from winter to summer this past week with temps in the 80’s this past weekend. I even managed to get myself a little sunburn while sitting outside at my nephews baseball game Saturday morning for an hour. Crazy how fast that happens, right?!

After Cooper’s game Saturday morning, Chris and I stopped by Louie’s Pickles & Italian Deli in Odenville to grab some steak sandwiches. Everyone raves that they have legit Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches with whiz cheese and so I had to check that out. While they do in fact have legit sandwiches, they were good but not the best I have had. I think it needed more cheese? Either way, I can appreciate how fresh the bread is! In fact, their Amoroso rolls, shaved ribeye & cheese whiz are shipped in from Philly 3 times a week. And don’t get me started on their house made pickles, yum!!!! I might have to go back up there to buy a jar soon!

IMG_8586

After lunch, we headed on over to the 280 area where other other six year old nephew was to have a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. Unfortunately, when we were heading over there we got a text that he was under the weather and they were going to reschedule the party. Poor little dude!!! Since Chris and I were already out that way, we figured we should just make a day of it then. We headed out to do some shopping, check out Bargain Hunt in Hoover and start shopping for a new car for me.

I got to test drive the top three SUVs that I am looking at and I think I have it narrowed down to two now. I have loved my Rogue the last few years, but it is time for something new. I have got to brag for a minutes on the two cars salesman that we had. They were awesome!!! Chris made the comment about how he hates dealing with car people when we were walking in to Carmax we braced ourselves for frustration. But that was not that case there or the other dealership we went to.

We were going to go out to dinner after all that test driving, but it was a little after 7pm at that point and everywhere had a 45+ minutes wait. No restaurant is worth that wait, so we headed to Target to get our grocery shopping done for the week and came home and made gnocchi.

IMG_8589

Sunday was a day of relaxation at our house. I finished one book and started another, played some Wooly Yoshi and we got caught up on all our favorite shows. Perfection.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!! Let’s see what the last week of April will bring.
