Weekend Shenanigans

The first weekend of March has come and gone. Have you guys noticed that the sun has decided to come out and play a little earlier in the mornings, and hang around a little later in the evenings?? Of course, next weekend we spring forward and then it really will be lighter longer, yay!!!

The weather was absolutely amazing here in Birmingham this weekend. We dont get many days of the enjoyable 70’s where the humidity is low….so I like to soak them up whenever possible!

The Friday Lunch Club met up at Babalu, and it was amazingly delicious as always. We split the guac and all three of us ordered the enchiladas of the day because how can you not? A little red sangria might have been had because Friday!

Babalu

Friday night I made paleo sloppy joes over baked potatoes and we caught up on some of our shows. I fell asleep during something, cant even remember and when I woke up I remember thinking oh gosh, it is probably after midnight. But it was just after 10:00pm. Hehehehe. Old person status over here guys.

Because I didn’t get enough Mexican on Friday, can anyone really have enough??? Chris and I headed to our favorite little Mexican spot in Trussville on Saturday. We wanted to enjoy the patio but there was a loud ass kid out there as we were walking up, so we decided to dine inside instead.

Afterwards, I talked Chris in to going to TJ Maxx to start getting stuff to organize our drawers and cabinets. We also found some towels and a really cute anchor while were there!!!

We hit up the Flea Market Mall in Leeds and then headed home to devour this delicious meat and cheese plate I made up!!! I had grabbed an organic red cheddar cheese from Whole Foods earlier in the week and OMG!!! Probably a good thing that Whole Foods is a 40 minute drive from our house or I might be in trouble.

Sunday I got our meal planning and grocery shopping done early. I also organized the shit out of our spice cabinet. Look at it’s beauty!!!

Spice Cabinet

I did some meal prep which included making Paleo Jalapenos Popper Chili for lunches and this Grain Free Paleo Blueberry Lemon Bar for breakfast.IMG_8177

We also enjoyed Sweet Potato noodles in a homemade cashew sauce with bacon, spinach and green onions. It wasn’t all the pretty to look at, but man it tasted delicious!!! I want to make it one more time and do a few little things different to make it even better….then you know I will share the recipe!!!

We caught up on Vampire Diaries and The Originals last night after dinner, and just like that the weekend was over. I got no blog stuff done, no other computer things I needed to work on, I didn’t finish organizing the rest of the things I meant to get around to….but I suppose all of that will be here next weekend.

I hope you all have a great weekend!!! Let’s do this, Monday!

Weekend Shenanigans

Another weekend has come and gone and I am sitting here this morning scratching my head and wondering how it could possibly be Monday morning already??? I basically got done nothing that I wanted to do this weekend. Well, with the exception of watching allllll of Fuller House!!!

IMG_8040

How rude!!! Of course I am still watching, Netflix!!! Don’t be so judgy.

Us girls met up Friday for lunch at Birmingham Breadworks. I have been there before to crab coffee and a pastry, but this was our first time eating lunch there. I ordered The Bham sandwich with a fruit side salad and the three of us split a chocolate tart for desert. Holy yum!!!

Saturday Chris and I had an errand to run early, so I didn’t really get to clean the house like usual. After the errand, we hit up some thrift stores, had Chuy’s for lunch and stopped by What’s on 2nd downtown. Check out these awesome Snoopy collector plates we got for a steal!

IMG_8038

I cant wait to find a really good antique glass cabinet to display all of our items we have collected over the years. Right now they are all wrapped up in boxes in one of our guest rooms. One day….one day!

Saturday evening we came home and I made up a sausage and cheese plate and we caught up on a few of our shows.

Sunday I got our meal planning and grocery shopping done early, then I stopped and grabbed some pizzas and took them up to my sister’s house for my nephews Spiderman party! My BIL disappeared in the middle of the party and Spiderman came out and surprised Cooper while he opened his presents. It was so cute, the little dude was speechless! That never happens with him.

And just like that, the weekend was over and we are back to reality.

Weekend Shenanigans

Another weekend has come and gone and another weekend passed me by without getting all the things done that I wanted to accomplish. Isn’t that always the way?

Friday for lunch, Laura and I checked out Shiki over in Homewood. We basically wanted to order one of everything off the menu and will be back soon, I am certain!

Saturday after the usual cleaning, I headed over to Salon 2000 to get a much needed cut and color. Several inches came off my hair and I went several shades darker. My hair looks so much healthier now!!!

After I came home, Chris and I did some planning on a few things and then we were off to Red Robin to have a quick drink and dinner. We tried to go to Crazy Horse first but they were super packed and we couldn’t even find parking anywhere. I am really disappointed that the Red Robin in Trussville stopped carrying craft beer. I ordered a sangria in protest, and to be honest…it wasn’t all that either. But the food was good, so I will give them that.

Sunday was spent meal planning, grocery shopping, food prepping and TV watching! I made Greek quinoa salad and veggie soup for lunches, paleo banana bread for breakfasts and last night we had paleo buffalo chicken pasta for dinner using spaghetti squash. It was delicious!!!

There was also some of this…

Weekend Shenanigans

I don’t even know how it is Monday already!?! It feels like I didn’t even have a weekend! Or maybe that is because I worked yesterday.

I did manage to escape for lunch club on Friday. We went to Hickory Tavern again. I can’t get enough of this place! I ordered the pimento grilled cheese sandwich and a side salad as my entree, and we split a small order of chili nachos. Everything was fabulous!

Chris surprised me on Friday night with a dozen roses and a decorated fire place! Just look at all the cute Mickey decor that he got. I didn’t touch a thing, this is exactly how he set it all up for me. So sweet!!!

Friday night we hung out with Chris’s parents. His dad got the new Samsung Virtual Realty Goggles and we were playing around with those. So freaking cool!!! I hope Apple steps up their game with things like that.

Saturday morning we cleaned and organized our house for several hours. We thought we might be having a realtor come by to look at it because we were thinking about making an offer on a new house and had an appointment to see it at noon. The house was a short sale and it turned out that there was a lot of deferred maintenance so we decided to pass. There are a few things I want to do around our house before we seriously put it on the market anyways so now I have time to focus on that.

Since we were so busy in the morning, we didn’t get a chance to eat. We headed down to Hickory Tavern for a late lunch and it was awesome!!! You would think I would be tired of this place but every time we go I order something different, which I have been trying to be better at doing. Say hello to the philly cheese steak sandwich with fries. So good!!!

IMG_7843

Saturday night we got caught up on Chicago Med and Fire and then I watched The Best of Me and cried about twenty times. I really loved the book and the movie certainly did it justice! I knew what was coming and so it kept me all emotional. Damn you, Sparks!! After it was over, I watched Drive Me Crazy just to lighten the mood before crashing for the night.

Sunday I got our meal planning and grocery shopping done early and we headed to Chris’s sister’s house to celebrate their grandmother’s birthday. Then I came home and worked for several hours (BOOOOOOO) and made our traditional lasagna dinner for Valentine’s Day. Yum!!!

I may have finished off half that bottle by myself…

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend!!! I am still trying to play catch up on my blog reading. And my book reading. And well basically everything! Let’s do this, Monday!

Weekend Shenanigans

And just like that, the first weekend of February has come and gone! Yesterday when I walked in our bedroom to get ready to go grocery shopping I thought to myself, “How is it even Sunday right now??? I have to go back to work tomorrow. WTF?” I feel like that happens just about every Sunday at that time.

Friday for lunch my friend and I checked out a new to us spot over at Brookwood Village called Hickory Tavern. This place opened several months ago and I had heard great things but hadn’t managed to make it over. Well I am so glad that we did because not only did we go there for our lunch club Friday, but Chris and I ended up back over there on Saturday night as well. Annnnnd I have plans with lunch club to meet back there next Friday too!

Friday we split the Shredheads (hashbrowns, bacon and cheese fried balls drizzled with sour cream and green onions) and I had  a small salad and chili. Saturday, Chris and I split crab dip and I had the Korean BBQ Street Tacos with a side of sweet potato fries that came out with honey butter glaze drizzle. Every single bite of everything was incredible!!

Hickory Tavern

That was my first beer since before New Years, and it was amazing too!! I ordered the Cahaba Liquidambar which is a local brewery’s American Red Ale.

Other than eating all the things, I got some blog work done and organized our pantry a little. I grabbed my beloved Lancome foundation at Macy’s since they were having a free gift with purchase and I have been scraping the bottle the last few weeks. Check out this awesome gift!!! I am obsessed with the fuchsia lip color I got!

The new restaurant that Laura and I checked out on Thursday asked to share my photo on their account, which felt awesome!!!

We of course watched the super bowl last night. I was pulling for the Panthers but I really didn’t care which team won because I think it is pretty awesome that Manning went out with the a big win last night.

The half time show was alright, but Lady Gaga stole the whole thing with her opening performance!!!

This meme cracked me up, but truth be told….I think she looked classy as hell with her patriotic outfit and matching make up. You go GAGA!

The commercials were super disappointing. I was most saddened by Budweiser. I can appreciate the no drinking and driving campaign. I am an avid believer in never drinking and driving. I have spent most of my life being a DD. But then taking a stab at craft beer in one of their commercials? Ummmm that isn’t going to gain you any fans seeing as how craft beer taste amazing and Bud tastes like piss water. They just need to stick with the dog and horses next year…

I cooked up some buffalo chicken dip and dates stuffed with blue cheese and drizzled with honey

Other weekend things..

I finished reading another book that I reviewed and have ready to go for the book link up tomorrow!!!

Oh, and I stepped on the scale yesterday after all my little cheats and realized I had lost 2 more pounds since last Tuesday. SQUEALS no big deal.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!!! Let’s bring it, Monday!
