Weekend Shenanigans

The Monday of a three day work week is always so much easier to handle, isn’t it? You guys, I am exhausted! This weekend we were go go go and I didn’t get home until after 8:30 last night. Normally I am one with the couch after like 5pm on Sundays. The good news is I  hit my goal steps each day this weekend! Too bad I left my fitbit at home on Saturday. Such a waste of steps, right???

Friday lunch was sushi from Whole Foods after running some errands.

Friday after work we hung out at home and had some friends over. We ordered a pizza and I finished reading my book while the boys played Madden 16.

Saturday we were up and out the door early to get a handle on our Christmas shopping!!! We headed over to The Summit and were there when the stores opened. Let’s just say that Santa was extra generous to me this year 🙂 We got a few other people ticked off the list and were starving by the time lunch rolled around. J Alexander’s Thai Kai Salad for the win!

I curled my hair Saturday all by myself. Miracles do happen! On a related note, how do you all handle brushing your hair out at the end of the of the day without a million pieces of hair breaking? #finehairproblems

We met up with a friend at World of Beer for a quick drink to relax after all the crazy.

Then we met up with Chris’s parents and sister and her family at Crazy Horse for a nice dinner. Hello delicious Filet!!!

Yesterday we were up and out the door pretty early again. I did get a chance to catch up on some magazine reading first though. After some shopping, we had lunch at Chuy’s.

I discovered that Harry Potter Butterscotch Beer exists!!! And resisted the urge to purchase the sugar laden beverage. Maybe next time I will indulge.

We were in search for a hot commodity, apparently. Luckily after like 3 hours of searching, my mom was able to track one down for us and I went to her house last night and scooped it up. Thanks mom!!! While I was there, she passed my grandmother’s trivet and pot holders on to me. As soon as I saw them, memories of my grandmother’s dining room table came back to me. So sweet of her.

I love having pieces like this that bring back such a special time. I will be sure to incorporate them in to my traditions going forward 🙂

And that was my weekend folks!! I ate way too much good food, probably spent way too much money shopping…but we had a wonderful time!!! Let’s just try to get through these next three days at work, huh? Why is the end of the year always so crazy at work? Why do places wait til the last month to get all their deals closed?!?!

Have a great week!!! Linking up with Biana.

Weekend Shenanigans

You guys!!! This is the last full work week of the year! So we can totally take on this Monday, right??? This weekend was full of a little shenanigans and a lot of lazy. Just the way I like it!

Friday when I got home, Chris had his friend J over so I hung out with them some and then finished reading my book. We ordered Chinese food because it is the only thing opened past 8pm in these parts. I am not going to lie, it as delicious but probably one of the last times I will indulge in it. When I make my own version at home, it is way healthier!!!

Saturday morning I got up and got moving on cleaning around the house, then it was parade time!!! Chris’s company has a spot in the Christmas parade every year and we ride on the float. Last year they had a Frozen theme, this year was Dr Seuss. My favorite!!! We had the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who,  Max (the dog), Thing 1 and Thing 2 and The Cat In the Hat. This parade is kind of a big deal and everyone has months of preparation. Chris and his co-workers took home number 1!!!!!

Look at the detail that went in to just the tree on the back of the float!

I took one for the team and wore a construction hat with a phone that was recording live on periscope. You got some behind the scenes on our float and got to see the crowds as we went through. These guys should be proud, they got lots of thumbs up and clapping for a job well done!

IMG_7034

We got waves from Santa as we came through.

IMG_7026

We had a lot of fun on the float, but it sure does take a lot out of you!!! We have to be there two hours before the parade begins to get lined up and judged. The parade route is pretty long and by the time we were pulling back in the parking lot after the route….it was starting to get dark! We grabbed some Mexican food at our favorite local place and headed on home.

The Grinch and Family Stone entertained me Saturday night. Along with some hot chocolate! I never tire of this view!!!

IMG_7046

Sunday we meal planned, grocery shopped and got caught up on all of our shows. We also watched Home Alone! Gotta get in all of those Christmas movies!!!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!!! This week I need to finish Christmas shopping and start getting these gifts wrapped. I have not a one wrapped yet. Oops! To be honest, I like to do it all at once and just knock it out!

Weekend Shenanigans

You know that deep sleep? The one when your alarm goes off and you have no clue where you are, what day it is, or why that annoying sound is blaring? That was me this morning. Jillian does not appreciate the fact that it is Monday morning during and kicked my ass this morning during the shred. Let’s get in to my weekend shenanigans!

On Friday, I grabbed a quick beer with the co-workers at Side Bar before heading home. Team building! Come to me Terrapin Moo Hoo.

Side Bar

I spent a lot of time this weekend sitting around as Chris fixed people’s computers. He recovered my co-worker’s stuff off a bad hard drive, fixed a friend’s server and his dad’s media computer all within like a 12 hour span. It has to be both amazing and awful for him to be so damn good at what he does.

Saturday was the SEC Championship game. The one where my beloved Crimson Tide rolled all over those Gators and served up some Gator Bites for dinner! We watched the game at Chris’s parents house.

Cheers, Griffith!!!

If Henry doesn’t win the Heisman this year, that is going to be some bullshit.

Sunday was a day of meal planning, prepping getting caught up on our shows and I finished reading Inconceivable . I really focused on my meal planning this week. Everything is super healthy. Gotta keep on track before I eat all the Christmas cookies in two weeks!

Linking up with Biana. I hope you all have a fabulous week!!! I like to think of it as only two more full work weeks left for this year! We can do this!!!

Weekend Shenanigans – Thanksgiving/Black Friday Style

Four day weekends are good for the soul, shouldn’t they happen more often?! Wednesday I tried out Yo Mama’s with my coworkers. Nothing better than hand cut, homemade fries!

Wednesday afternoon I helped my MIL prep some of the food for Thursday. Chris and I stopped by to check out Crazy Horse on our way home. We were very impressed and we will most certainly be back soon! My new favorite spot for sure!!! They had a great selection of craft beer, most of the draughts being local. We only grabbed some apps off the bar menu, but they have a top notch menu for their restaurant and I can’t wait to try their filet!

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebrating with our family. We were at Chris’s parents house for lunch where there were 20 family members and then at my mom’s house where it was just Chris and I and my mom and step dad….with my three step sisters coming a little later. It was fabulous!

Once the last dish was cleaned and put away, my mom and I headed out for our annual Black Friday shopping marathon!!! We hit a new record for us and shopped for over 21 hours straight!!! My mom finished up all of her Christmas shopping and got a few things for herself. I started my Christmas shopping and scored a few great things for myself as well. The highlight being Dolce Vita booties from Nordstrom Rack for under $40 similar to these!!!!! I am obsessed!

Sadly, that shirt ended up having a black spot on the sleeve and I didn’t get it.

I am in love with the Democracy skinny jeans that I scored for $39. They are on sale today still. They were so comfortable!!! And the waste band design really helps them stay up and in place.

Saturday I watched my Tide roll over Auburn. It was a great game and both teams played well. Roll Tide!!! Now we will be taking on the Florida Gators for the SEC Championship!

Linking up with Biana. I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving!!! What are you scooping up this Cyber Monday?

Weekend Shenanigans

Is it just me, or is anyone else super stoked about the three day work week?!?!? But I know you are all dying to know what kind of shenanigans I got in to this weekend, so let’s dive in. Shall we?

Friday evening we met some friends at World of Beer. I tried a Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout as per J’s suggestion…and it was awesome!

The rest of the weekend we hung around the house and it was a mixture of being productive and being lazy. It was perfect!!!

I watched I’ll be Home for Christmas with Jonathan Taylor Thomas. Such a great 90’s movie!!! It had probably been years since I have seen it last. I tried to watch Bridget Jone’s Diary but I wasn’t in the mood I don’t think, so I switched to Home Alone. I also watched Frozen for the first time! I know, I know…I hadn’t gotten around to it. But it was so cute and I am glad I saw it!

Frozen

Elsa and I are kindred spirits…

Do yourself a favor and grab a can of this Trader Joe’s Peppermint Hot Chocolate. It was amazing and went along nicely with my movie watching!

It had been a long time since I have made a big breakfast for us, so I decided to surprise Chris with maple sausage, eggs and hash browns Sunday morning. Mine was sans eggs because I have been on an I hate eggs kick the last few months.

I got a lot of work done on a new side project!!! Laura and I have started a local food blog called Besties do Bham! It is in the early stages but it is live and running. It is going to be so fun to work together on it. Follow along if you want to see some Birmingham Food Porn!!

Other things that make me happy..IMG_6826

If things look wonky around here and pictures are missing, terribly sorry. I am working on fixing it. Linking up with Biana. I hope you all have a great, short week!
