Weekend Shenanigans

Oh, hey there Monday. You sure did come quick!!! Time for Weekend Shenanigans!!!

Things that happened this weekend:

I cleaned the floors, vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen and dusted the whole house.

We watched Georgia lose to Tennessee.

We watched Alabama suck ass for nearly 3 quarters before finally deciding to show up to play some football and take over the Arkansas game.

I cooked Cheesy Jalapeno Pinwheels and Pastry Pizza Wraps.

Three loads of laundry were washed, folded/ironed and put away.

I caved and bought a bag of fall peanut M&M’s and proceeded to eat half of it in a matter of hours. Clearly demonstrating no self control.

We started three new TV shows…

quantico-abc

Quantico – This show is about a class of FBI trainees and there time at Quantico. The show flashes from the present to the past, as one of the students becomes a suspect in a bombing and there are flashbacks to how this came about.

Should you watch it – While this might be my least favorite of the three we started, I am really enjoying it. I like it better than Chris I think.

Limitless

Limitless – Based on the movie, this show is about a guy that takes the drug NZT and joins in with the FBI to see why his body does not have the same horrible side effects as others who have taken it. Little does the FBI know, he is working with someone to get shots and that is why it works for him.

Should you watch it – While it can be a little cheesy at times, I really like this. I would say absolutely watch it if you have seen the movie. I haven’t seen the movie and I still enjoy it, so the movie isn’t a requirement. Bradley Cooper stars in the first episode to pass the torch to the TV show, so there is that.

blindspot

Blind Spot– A girl wakes up in a bag in Time Square completely naked and covered in tattoos with no memory of who she is or what happened to her. There is a tattoo of an FBI agent’s name on her back and she is sent to him. They start following clues from her tattoos to find out who she is and what happened to her.

Should you watch it – Absolutely!!! This is by far my favorite of the three and I can’t wait for the rest of the episodes!!!

Things that didn’t happen this weekend:

The back yard didn’t get cut.

I didn’t finish the book I was planning on having done for tomorrow’s link up.

No organizing of my clothes took place.

No healthy eating was had.

No day hit even 10,000 steps on the ol’ Fitbit.

How I feel about today…

Linking up with Biana. I hope everyone has a great week!!!

Weekend Shenanigans

It’s the last weekend of September, so I had to do it up right with my Weekend Shenanigans! This weekend was full of delicious beer, food and fun with friends!

Warning: Food Porn Ahead!

I kicked off the weekend with Laura and happy hour at Saturn! The orange drink is called the Rocket Booster and it had things like honeysuckle vodka and Tang in it. Needless to say, adult slushies are awesome.

Saturn Bham

The second drink I had was called the Spacehive but it was way too strong tasting for me. When I order a cocktail, I don’t want to really taste the alcohol and that is all I could taste in mine. Same with Laura’s second. If you like strong tasting drinks, then their regular cocktails are for you!

Friday evening Chris and I had Moe’s BBQ for dinner and were excited that all of our shows are coming back on! We had a night in front of the TV and it was relaxing and just what I needed!!!

Saturday morning I headed up to my sister’s house to pick her and the boys up so we could go visit my dad. His birthday was this past week and he had to have surgery this week as well, so I was glad we were able to fit in some time to see him. His fire department was out raising money at a community event so we spent some time with him there.

When I got back home, Chris and I headed to World of Beer for a little bit to catch the Alabama game. I tried the Cheeky Cherry cider from Woodchuck, and of course Tavern Taters were ordered.

Saturday evening, we stocked the fridge with our fall favorites and  Chris and his friend Jay streamed TomorrowWorld in our basement while I finished up reading Rebel and caught most of the Auburn game. All whilst we snacked on seven layer dip.

Sunday was Breakin’ Bread! It is an annual foodie event every year in Birmingham. Proceeds go to Camp Smile-a-Mile, so you can enjoy all the foods knowing it is for a good cause. Plus, we always go with Laura and B so we know it is going to be a good time!

The event was held at Sloss Furnaces this year. The venue was pretty cool, it is an old factory here in Birmingham that still stands today and is used for things like this event, music festivals and beer festivals. You can even rent the space out for weddings too.

It was crowded!!! So many more people this year than last year!

Breakin Bread Bham

Here are all of the delicious eats!!!

Breakin Bread

I got to try Chicken and Waffles for the first time, there was a lamb and feta cheese ball up there, asian style chicken dumplings, a quesadilla with thai peanut sauce, all kinds of meats and cheeses, pork stuffed cornbread, Fatso Bread Pudding (made with a chocolate stout), filet steak wraps, apple fritters, crawfish pasta, korean chicken, pizza and so much more!!

J Clyde had their Fire Truck there that has kegs and taps! So cool!!!

Even though it was rainy when we first got there, it quit after a few minutes and the weather was perfect! It was cloudy and in the 70’s with a cool breeze every now and then. It really felt like fall and I loved it! The food was fantastic, and the company even better.

Weekend Shenanigans

Oh, hey there!!! I am still trying to catch up from last week with commenting and all that jazz, so bare with me. Monday sure did sneak up, didn’t it? I feel like I still need one more day of the weekend!

As you (probably) know, I was in Orlando most of last week for a work trip. They put us up at the brand new Four Seasons resort at Walt Disney and it was beautiful!!! Unfortunately, we never have enough free time to visit the parks or for me to sneak a blate with all of you fabulous Florida girls. I think if we go down again next year, I am going to stay the weekend after to do all of those things!!!

Check this place out…

Four Seasons Walt Disney

There was an amazing closet, a Nepresso machine on the coffee bar, a freaking TV in the bathroom mirror that knew my name and my own private balcony. Yeah, resort living is something I could get used to! Every time I came back to my room, they had my coffee restocked, my trash emptied, and other stuff changed in my room. How did they know I was gone?!?!

The lights all around the hotel were just magical and my iPhone pictures don’t do it justice.

Four Seasons Lights

And I didn’t hate the coffee sipping views from my balcony, or the view from the rooftop of the fireworks shows from Universal and Disney!!!

Views

We ate fabulous food, none of which was captured on camera because I didn’t want to look like a creeper. It was fabulous. I tried scallops for the first time, hated them. But everything else was awesome!!! But Florida was still hot as fuck and it really did a number on my hair. I missed my husband…and my dogs…and it was time to fly home!

Atlanta from above

The rest of the weekend was spent eating burgers at Jack Brown’s, drinking beer at Jack Brown’s and World of Beer, watching a disastrous Auburn team play against LSU, watching my beloved Alabama make more mistakes than I could count against Ole Miss and me drowning my sorrows in snacks and losing my voice whilst screaming at the TV all night, watching my five year old nephew play baseball and lots of Mindy Project reruns. (Which the new season started on Hulu this week and the first episode was awesome!!!!)

Shenanigans

A weekend update post on a Wednesday? It’s my blog, I do what I want!!! Plus, I had to link up for the books post yesterday so what’s a girl to do?

You guys, can we just make three day weekends a thing every week??? I would be willing to work more hours for four days to have that third day off. It is just good for the soul, you know?!?! Let’s jump in to the weekend, shall we?

Friday evening we spent a little time at Chris’s parents house and I tried to get to bed at a decent hour because I knew we had a busy weekend ahead!

Saturday morning was spent cleaning the house. I got dressed in my game day gear and we headed to Chuy’s to have lunch with Chris’s parents.

The rest of the day was spent watching football, though I have to say that they were all boring except for the few minutes of the Auburn game where I really thought Louisville might have had a chance to come back and our Alabama vs Wisconsin game. I mean,  we were the only ones who even played a ranked team this week. Come on you guys!

Sunday we headed up to Huntsville to see Amanda!!! She was in town from Australia and we sure do miss this girl! The funny thing is, we met Amanda through the internet. But not blogging, Chris was actually friends with her through this tech forum that he is a member of. It was just a bonus that she turned out to be a blogger too! We met her a few years ago, and every time we visit her….she introduces us to more of her friends that become our friends.

We did quite a lot of bar hoping while we were in Huntsville, and besides Below the Radar, everywhere was new to us. Fabulous!!!

We started out at BJ’s Brewhouse at Bridgestreet. We ordered chips and spinach dip and I got to try BJ’s very own Wild Berry Cider. It was magical!

Next we were off to Below the Radar. I absolutely love this place, probably one of my favorite spots in Huntsville. I ordered Not Your Father’s Root Beer (which I decided I like Sprechers better) and Cider Boy’s Apple Cinnamon Cider. We also had spicy queso dip there.

On our walk to our next destination, I had to snap a picture of the beautiful tree lined streets and this super awesome free book exchange!!! Even the art on the box was cool!FullSizeRender (6)

We stopped by Amendment 21, which was a cool spot but a little pricey for my tastes. I did get to try my first Moscow Mule there though and I loved it!!!

IMG_6069

From there we went to Humphries which is much more my speed. They had fried cheese curds, so double win!!!

We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the live music and amazing weather. The patio reminded me of New Orleans with the balconies.

FullSizeRender (8)

Matt Carroll was there, and he is awesome! I have heard him play in Birmingham before. He puts his own spin on popular songs like Genie in a Bottle, How to Love, etc plus he played some Kings of Leon and Freefallin’ and just a bunch of other awesome songs!

We said our goodbyes late that evening and headed back to Birmingham. So sad to see Amanda go!

Monday morning was spent cutting grass. I had gotten in 3.89 miles and over 8,000 steps just on the side yard alone!! Such a great work out. We then meal planned and I got our grocery shopping for the week knocked out and picked up some Moe’s BBQ for lunch. We watched two movies, Get Hard and Sex Tape. We also started watching Younger, and I love it!

Just like that, the weekend was over and it was time to go back to work.

Weekend Shenanigans

Hey there August 31st! You sure did sneak up on us!!! Ok, but seriously, who else is ridiculously excited that football season kicks off this coming weekend!?!?!?!?! How did we spend our last football free weekend? I am sure you are dying to know…

Friday evening we stayed in and watched a Law and Order SVU marathon. I finished reading Then You Were Gone and started Freefall. Freefall is less than 20 pages away from complete as of this morning, oh yeah!!!

Saturday I cleaned the house in the morning, went to take my nieces birthday presents to my sister’s house in the afternoon, and then Saturday evening we didn’t leave until 8:30pm to head out for the night. Who are we??? We are usually getting ready for bed at that time lol. We went to World of Beer to meet up with one of our friends and for the first time ever, we were there to close the place down. I didn’t get to bed until nearly 4:30am. The time I usually wake up! It was fabulous!!! Of course, I never made it in to any pictures, but here is proof we were out past dark.

While we were there, the people at the table next to us had to be the oldest ones there and man were they white girl wasted!!! It was two mind 40-something couples and the wive/girlfriends kept getting up and doing different yoga poses. I have never attempted yoga drunk before. They were as good as you would think they were and the one girl toppled over and knocked their entire table with all the beer. It was quite entertaining. We saw the four of them walking around Five Points holding hands several times back and forth after they left. I imagine they were looking for their car. Scary!!!

We decided that there is basically nothing to do in Birmingham after the bars close at 2am unless you want to go to Nana Funks so we headed home.

Sunday was a day of meal planning, grocery shopping and tv watching. We watched some Law and Order SVU, Rules of Engagement and Once Upon a Time. I read a little last night and called it a weekend.

And that was the weekend! Just like that we are back to realty this morning. It’s harsh. I hope everyone has a great week!!! Linking up with Biana.
