Weekend Shenanigans

Oh hey there last week of August! We have one more weekend left before football season dominates our lives weekends. This weekend was fabulous. We had a day of activities and a day of laying on the couch doing absolutely nothing.

Friday night when I came home, Chris surprised me with the Fitbit HR! He had it all wrapped up in a gift bag and even had a sweet card and said it was a just because I love you present. So sweet! So far, I am loving it!!!

Saturday started off with a great work out cutting grass. My fitbit said that I walked nearly 3.5 miles cutting the grass. Hells yes! After that, it was time for a well deserved lunch! We met some friends at Chuy’s and this deliciousness was to be had…

One of my favorite things about Chuy’s is all the dips! So many choices, what is a tortilla chip to do?

While we were leaving Chuy’s, we decided to head over to Toys R Us. Chris found his next car…

And I found mine…

I mean come on, you could play real life Mario Kart with that sweet ride!!!

When we were leaving Toys R Us, there was all this candy up front. We started to get all nostalgic on how awesome it was to go to candy stores when we were little and pick out exactly what you loved. Then we were like hmmmm are there any candy stores around here??? Our friend Josh took to Google and found one in Crestline Village so we headed over there to Sugar! So appropriately named, right?

It was like heaven. We were as happy as kids in a candy store!!! Literally!!! We filled up on all the sweets and then went to play some life size chess.

It was humid as fuck outside, as you can see from my hair. So we did what needed to be done, we headed to the adult candy store, World of Beer! Duh! Do you even know me?

While we were there, we planned to have a get together at our house that evening. We had the most guests over that we have ever had since we lived in this house! It was nice having everyone over….and not having to drive 30 minutes to an hour back home when we all parted ways. Chris and I cleaned up the snacks and walked to our bedroom. It was fabulous!!!

Sunday started off with grocery shopping before the rain. We grabbed some Moe’s BBQ on the way home and parked ourselves in front of the TV for a Once Upon a Time Marathon. We are well in to season 2 now! My Fitbit only say about 5,100 steps yesterday compared to over 15,000 on Saturday. Oops.

Kristen talked me in to doing Snapchat on Friday. I am still trying to learn my way around it. I am such a newb. So you know…maybe add me if you are in to that! 🙂 LifebyNadine

I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend. I am linking up with Biana!

Birthday Weekend Shenanigans

Working on a Monday is bad enough. When it is your birthday??? It should be illegal!!!

First of all, I want to give a shout out to my birthday twin, Kate!!! Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!! How awesome is it that we were born on the very same day, the very same year?

This weekend was fabulous. We binge watched the crap out of Hart of Dixie and finished up the very last season. I am so sad to not have any new episodes of those to look forward to!!

Saturday morning I got up early and cut the front yard. I ran out of gas and decided to just quit after that. There is always next weekend! I came inside and did a quick clean down around the house and got ready to head out. Chris asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday lunch and I had a hankering for sweet potato chips with blue cheese….so we headed to Mudtown!

We sat outside on their patio and it was so nice out! I was really glad it wasn’t overly hot this past weekend. Natures present to me! We had the sweet potato chip app with bacon blue cheese dip, and I had the Soco Burger as well.

Chris had bought me a beautiful Michael Kors bag for my birthday. So sweet!!! I decided that I had too many bags that looks similar to it though, so we exchanged it for the sunglasses I had my eyes on all summer since they didn’t really have any other bags there that stood out to me.

We hit up some thrift stores, walked around TJ Maxx and since we all know birthday calories don’t count….we headed to Yogurt Mountain!

FullSizeRender (77)

I had birthday cake with cookie dough and sprinkles, peanut butter fudge with butterfinger and red velvet cupcake with oreos on top because that is how you do it, duh!

Saturday evening we settled in for some Netflixing and nachos 🙂

Yesterday we met up with Chris’s family for birthday lunch at Munoz. Not a picture was taken, but we had fun! We then got out grocery shopping done and started watching Once Upon a Time. I can’t decide if I like it yet or not but we watched like 5 episodes…so it definitely has my interest. Do any of you watch it?

I also wanted to give a shout out to Heather who was so sweet and surprised me with a birthday present in my mailbox!!!!

Not a single alcoholic beverage was consumed this weekend. I don’t even know how that happened? I have been trying to have a drink since Thursday. Hopefully that will change this week. I smell a happy hour or something coming up in my future.

A look at birthday’s past….

Weekend Shenanigans

I think most kids are going back to school around here this week, if they haven’t already. I guess that means that the summer commute is over and I must resume to leaving a lot earlier than I do now!

Friday evening Chris and I ran by Publix and picked up some steaks and took them to his parents house for dinner. His dad is an excellent grill master 🙂 It had been so long since we had some steaks.

Saturday morning I cut our side yard and worked on the landscaping a little, cleaned the house and then we decided it was time for lunch! We ended up at Mugshots in Uptown. I think I am turning in to a burger snob for sure. Most people love Mugshots, and I used to like it as well but I am going to be honest…it really just wasn’t that good. I mean the burger was ok. I got the Walker that had blue cheese crumbles, blue cheese dressing, lettuce and purple onions on it, but it wasn’t amazing. The fries were rather terrible and I only ate about 1/2 of them, only because I was starving. They do have really good sweet buns though. The only saving grace of the burger, really.

FullSizeRender (70)

After Mugshots, we met up with some of our friends at World of Beer, of course! I really wanted another Blue Pants Candy Bar Pinstripe, but they had already blown that keg. Drats!!! So I decided to try a Terrapin Liquid Bliss instead.

FullSizeRender (71)

Don’t get me wrong, this beer was good! It had a nice chocolate after taste to it and it went down smooth. But it was no Candy Bar Pinstripe. I am going to be on a quest to find another Pinstripe for sure!

I also had an Woodchuck Oopsy Daisy and WOB now has Sprecher Root Beer on draft all the time, so I had one of those too. It was hot as balls outside, and that root beer was so refreshing! It quite literally felt like this…

We also hit the 100 club with our loyalty points! Life goals people, life goals.

Saturday evening we grabbed some Moe’s BBQ to take home and watch Hart of Dixie. I also started a new book, Before We Were Strangers.

Sunday morning I was up early and headed to the store to beat the tax free weekend crowd. You wouldn’t believe how many people had the same idea. It was crowded! The rest of the day was spent meal prepping and laying on the couch watching more Hart of Dixie! We are already half way through season 3!

This month is already flying by, today is the 10th!! I am not even sure how that is possible? I have a feeling that this week is going to be a busy one, so let’s get this Monday going! I hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Weekend Shenanigans – First of August

Hey, hey there people! Can you believe the first weekend of August is in the books already? August means we are that much closer to football season! And more importantly…it is my birthday month!!! I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Mine started out on Friday with finishing My Kind of Love and starting The Art of Racing in the Rain. I am trying to get back on track with my summer reading challenge!

Saturday morning we got up early and tackled some yard work for two hours. There is nothing more satisfying than some good old physical labor where you can see immediate results. We deserved a reward for our hard work, so we headed to Jack Brown’s for lunch! I had the Curious Traveler Lemon Shandy, the Danny Laruso burger, and Chris and I split some fries.

FullSizeRender (65)

We then, of course, headed to World of Beer to hang out on their patio. It was a unseasonably cool 96 degrees with humidity much lower than usual. It was delightful!

I started off with a a seasonal local, Trim Tab’s Raspberry Berliner Weisse.

IMG_5783

And then tired Blue Pants Candy Bar Pinstripe which was freaking amazing. This might be one of my new favorite stouts. It was creamy with chocolate and peanut butter flavors. Much like a liquid candy bar.

FullSizeRender (67)

Saturday evening we spent some time with Chris’s parents and then called it a night.

Sunday was spent meal planning, grocery shopping, food prepping and binge watching Hart of Dixie. Oh and laundry. The never ending laundry.

Other scenes from the weekend included his Royal Highness, Sir Mac, perched upon the top stair overlooking his kingdom.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Let’s go ahead and tackle this Monday!

Weekend Shenanigans

We are in the last week of July! Let that sink in for a minute…

This weekend was pretty chill. Friday, I met some friends for lunch at Chicken Salad Chick. I do love some good chicken salad!

FullSizeRender (49)

Friday evening, Chris had his friend Jay over to stream Tomorrowland, so I decided to curl up and finish the book I had started earlier in the week, Everything I Left Unsaid. I also started a new book Friday evening, Reckless, and finished it last night!

Saturday I cut the side yard and nearly melted from the heat. Chris wanted to stream the second day of Tomorrowland, so I headed to Target to get some snacks for the day and get our grocery shopping done!  While I was there, I grabbed this last urchin on clearance for $5.98!!!!

FullSizeRender (55)

I made 7 layer dip for us and we just chilled out all day listening to music. It was wonderful!

Sunday we met up with my mom, my sister and her family for lunch at Golden Rule BBQ. It was great getting to see all of them for a little while. My sister brought us some of her pickles, jalapenos, tomatoes and some homemade ham salad sandwiches. Delicious!!!

FullSizeRender (51)

The rest of the day was dedicated to binging on Hart of Dixie and prepping food for the week. I made Edamame Quinoa salad for lunch and cajun baked shrimp with angel hair pasta for dinner. It was my first time making shrimp, and it turned out pretty damn good!

Weekend FoodIn other weekend scenes, there was a lot of this going on….

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! I got in an arm work out and my first day of the 30 day yoga challenge this morning. I am about to hit the ground running!
