Weekend Shenanigans

Another weekend has come and gone. Crazy how fast they go by, isn’t it? I had a wonderful weekend and I hope that you did too!

Friday I had lunch with my friends, as we settle into the Lunch Club sans one member who moved. Sigh. Babalu’s enchilada of the day was beef with fresh roasted corn salsa and jalapeno cheese. I indulged.

Friday evening I grabbed Moe’s BBQ for Chris and I on my way home from work. Moe’s goes great with New Girl binge watching. Obviously.

Saturday morning I was up 6am to clean the house before my mom came over to take me birthday shopping. We were out all day and it was wonderful. I love getting to spend that much time with her! She of course spoiled me with a few presents and I found some great deals that I couldn’t pass up either!

FullSizeRender (44)Zella top and capris to work out in, a navy short sleeve sweater to wear over some of my sleeveless dresses for work, 2 dresses from the Loft at less than $20 each (yay for an additional 60% off clearance!!!!) 2 blouse-y tops, cropped jeans (that were $98 marked down to $36) and a really cute dress with flow-y 3/4 length arms from Pink Tulip.

When I got home, Chris had a few of his friends over and I let them have their guy time while I finished reading my latest book, Secrets of Maple Syrup Farm. It was so good!! I will have a review up tomorrow because it has to be shared!

Sunday morning I did three hours of yard work. It was so hot. So freaking hot. I am pretty sure this was the hottest weekend of the year. I was so tired and spent after all that work, but we still had a whole day ahead of us! We went to lunch with Chris’s parents and stopped by a Bargain Hunt andΒ  a few thrift stores. I found three books for $0.49 each! Score!

After we parted ways with them, we still had to do our grocery shopping for the week. We ran around Publix as quickly as possible so we could spend some down time watching TV before bed. I slept like a baby.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! It is back to the grind today. I am linking up with Biana for Weekending. Happy Monday! (Like there is such a thing???)

Weekend Shenanigans

Hey there middle of July! What??? I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!! My weekend started out with a quiet night in on Friday. We watched some New Girl and I finished reading The Storied Life of AJ Fikry, which I will talk about tomorrow for the Show Us Your Books link up! Yay!!! I love book link up day πŸ™‚

Since we were out of town last weekend, I had to cut the entire yard this weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday morning I got up early and sweat to death outside cutting that damn grass. So. Hot. SO HOT! I am so ready for cooler temps.

Other than that, Chris and I camped out at World of Beer most the day Saturday. I got to try two new to me beers, Unibroue Ephemere Pear and Woodchuck’s Oopsy Daisy Chamomile. Yes. Chamomile beer. It was freaking delicious!!! We told our bartender the Beer is My Friend glass that they brought out for my Oopsy Daisy was coming home with us. And it did.

World of Beer

My new Tea With Mrs Potts polish can be seen above. If you live Beauty and the Beast (or Little Mermaid, Milan, and Pochahontas) as much as I do…head to Walgreens for the Orly collection!!!

I have started reading (and half way through) Closer to You and we have made it to season 4 of New Girl last night, so clearly a productive weekend all around! I managed to stay off the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, for now. Also a huge accomplishment. I hope everyone has a great week!!!

Weekend Shenanigans – Beaching for ‘Murica

I love long weekends. And by long weekends, I mean ones where I left work Tuesday night and headed to the beach until last night! πŸ™‚ Be jealous bitches.

We were in Gulf Shores, Alabama. For those of you who aren’t up on their geography…Alabama has beaches along the Gulf! Pretty, white sand beaches! The best thing? The wifi at our condo was virtually nonexistent and unusable, so I stayed unconnected for days and days. It was wonderful!

The Rita’s Ice people had to stand in the pool for awhile because it was SO HOT two of the days we were there.

Other than relaxing pool side and ocean side, I finished reading Saint Anything, and started and finished Rescue Road as well! I also learned that no matter how much sunscreen I apply while at the beach, I always manage to burn at least one area of my pale, Scottish-Irish skin. This week my thighs got a little extra done.

This weekend in eats:

eatsWe stopped at Steak n Shake on the way down to the beach. I ordered my first Frisco Melt! I usually get a regular steak burger but decided to switch it up. On the way home we had Smash Burger for the first time. It was delicious and I am certain we will be back! While at the beach we hung out at Lulu’s where we shared smoked tuna dip (not pictured) and I had a burger with queso on it. Yes, queso. You guys….a burger with queso is probably the best thing ever. I also had a side of jalapeno hush puppies which were freaking amazing. We had grilled out one night as well….mmmmm!!!!!! Grilling out is the BEST at the beach. Isn’t everything better at the beach?

The worst thing about going to the beach? Leaving!!!! Who wants to leave? Also, who wants to sit in traffic??? Our 4 and a half hour trip turned out to be nearly eight thanks to stop and go traffic the entire way up I-65.

Check out this amazing storm that rolled in over us at the beach! That shelf cloud! People started running inside.

My favorite this is walking down the boardwalk in the mornings.

Now excuse me while I go wish I was back on the beach! I hope everyone had a great weekend and a great 4th of July!

Weekend Shenanigans

Well good morning there. Is it a bad sign on Monday morning when you wake up and you realize that you forgot to set your alarms (all four of them) and you are so thankful that you had restless sleep that stirred you awake at your normal time….only to pull your lower back out during your work out? I am thinking probably so….but this could just be my Friday trying to slide in to this weekend.

Friday…I don’t even want to talk about Friday. Let’s just say it was fucking awful. The only saving graces were meeting up with Laura for lunch and having gnocchi with Chris when I got home. Speaking of Laura, she was super sweet and brought me her China Glaze Pool Party polish to borrow for my nails at the beach! Can you go to the beach without bright ass polish? I think not…

This weekend was a productive one! Saturday morning I cleaned the entire house, did some laundry and started cutting Mac’s fur. I also vacuumed the inside of my car out and wiped down the interior. We then headed out to lunch at Munoz (local Mexican) before stopping by Chris’s parents house for a few hours so Chris could work on his dad’s computer. I got to read about half of Saint Anything while I waited πŸ™‚

Sunday I cut the back yard, hedged the bushes and cleaned up that mess and continued to cut Mac’s fur. Then we met up with Chris’s parents for lunch at Billy’s and did our grocery shopping.

Chris has finally crossed over to the dark side and started getting in to New Girl! It has been about a year since I left off with it and I forgot basically everything, so we started from the beginning. Would you believe we are already in season 2 after last night?

I actually have a lot of posts pre-scheduled this week….for once!!!! I will be sharing my Chocolate Peanut Butter Chia Seed Pudding that everyone keeps asking me for too! I hope you all have a fantastic week, I am going to go try to survive the next two days.

Weekend Shenanigans

Well, hello there! We only have one more weekend left in June, and summer is in full swing!

Friday evening, I got home and finished my craft project. I had Styrofoam and little bamboo wood pieces all over the kitchen table….but the diaper bouquet was complete!

Diaper Bouquet

Saturday morning I got up bright and early and PR’d on my time for cutting the front and side yard! Can you PR on such a thing? I am going with yes. I had that monster cut in an hour and a half. Usually it takes me about two hours. It was so SO humid and I just wanted to be done so I must have been pushing that lawnmower around REALLY damn fast. Nothing more satisfying than when you are done though and can admire your work, am I right?

I then came in and cleaned the house and got ready to head to Laura’s! Just one problem. I didn’t really account for the fact that I was going to have to transport that diaper bouquet. Woops. After a box and some larger bubble wrap. I got it figured out!

Laura wanted a girls day before baby Sheffield graces the world. What better way than to start that off then with a trip to Jack Brown’s for burgers and fried oreos? The burgers took forever to come out and I was too hangry at that point to take any pictures, but I did get one of the fried oreo. Mmmmm.

We headed to the salon where I chatted while the girls got their toes done. I didn’t want anyone touching my feet, they are so torn up from my running shoes and grass cutting shoes. But I did partake in a strawberry lemonade popsicle from Steel City Pops! Yum! And what would a girls trip be without a trip to Target?? We walked around the entire store and looked at everything πŸ™‚ You cant do that with boys around, you know? It was marvelous.

Sunday was meal planning, shopping prepping in the morning. I also got my list for the book challenge posted. Then I had to get some veggie and fruit plates ready to take to my sister’s house, where we had lunch for my dad.

It was good seeing my family, then Chris and I headed to downtown Leeds for Cherry Limeaids and the flea market! The rest of the evening was spend watching Bloodline. I am not sure how I feel about it? It’s good, but not amazing. Yet I have to keep on watching more episodes to see what happens!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. This is my last full week of work before a short week next week for vacation. Please go fast!!!
