Weekend Shenanigans

I want a recount. It can’t possibly be Monday already?! This weekend we didn’t really have any plans for Saturday and Sunday, but it ended up being much busier than expected!

Friday – I met up with Laura after work Friday evening for the Pride of Dixie event at World of Beer. There were fifteen Alabama breweries in attendance with FORTY taps. Forty people. 4-0. Try picking a beer with all that going on! I couldn’t believe the turn out! I got there shortly after 5 PM and there wasn’t a single table available inside. About 15 minutes after I got there, all the outside tables were gone and there were people standing around everywhere. In 40 degree wet weather in Alabama might I remind you! Such an amazing event for this city and the breweries here! I tried the Rocket Republic Peanut Butter Astronut Brown beer. It was delicious!

World of Beer

Saturday morning I did a deep cleaning in the dogs room. I vacuumed, cleaned out their crates and threw out their old beds and blankets. Then they got baths as well, the little stinkers!

Chris and I headed down town after that and grabbed Jack Browns for lunch! It has been awhile since we have been and it was so damn delicious! I got the Danny Laruso (cream cheese and jalapeno jelly) and we split fries.

We then decided to hit up some thrift shops. We scored some really good deals on some old Xbox’s and a Sega. We decided if they didn’t work we would do something crafty with them. We also got some old Xbox games and a few Nintendo games that we didn’t have. From there we headed to TJ Maxx to get the dogs their new beds and I got the first piece for our gallery wall too!

Sunday – We met up with Chris’s parents for lunch at Village Tavern. They have the best crab dip!!! I also got their tomato basil soup and a spinach salad and failed to take pictures. From there, we headed to the Antique Flea Market Mall in Gardendale. You guys, we scored big time!!!

IMG_4576

So many video games!!! A few were rare, hard to find ones. Also, I collect character glasses from the 60’s – 90’s and these ones were too good of deals to pass up. One day I will have to share my collection with you. One or two of these might be repeats but I dont care, these were a steal!

We got our grocery shopping done late in the evening and had peanut butter cookies for dinner.

And that was how the weekend just flew right on by!!!

In other news, Crispy M&M’s are back you guys!!!

I found that single serve pack at Walgreen’s but they have the full size bags at CVS. Go getcha some!

I hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Weekend Shenanigans

Oh, hey there Monday! You sure did come quickly! This weekend was one of those where there were a lot of things I could have gone to, but chose just a few to not overwhelm myself. Let’s just jump right in, shall we?

Friday after work I met up with Chris at World of Beer. Monday Night Brewing was having an event there with three of their beers on tap and they were giving out free swag and such. I tweeted a picture from the MCB account and the guy from the brewery walked around trying to figure out where the picture had come from. He was really nice and gave us some swag.

When we were ready to go home, we ordered a pizza to go from Little Italy. It is new to the five points area and it is hands down the BEST pizza I have had in Birmingham! It is the only “real” pizza as far as I am concerned. Highly recommend you locals try it out, I am a pizza snob and don’t usually go throwing out words like the best!

IMG_4535

Saturday – Chris was having some friends over Saturday afternoon/evening to play video games so I stayed in Saturday morning to get the cleaning done. We also headed to Target to pick up some snacks for them. While we were there I scored some great clearance items!

IMG_4540

I mean check out this calender!!!! I am going to hang it in my cube at work to bring a little color to the area. And dogs make me smile, especially sassy ones that say “If I were dating myself, I would give myself a cookie everyday and it would be adorable.” Um, yes!!

IMG_4541

Those KitchenAid towels were $1.78 from $5.99. Score! We then headed to Red Robbin for lunch. There aren’t many good places to choose from in Trussville, so when in doubt…grab a burger. I ordered the Blue Ribbon. I love blue cheese burgers!

IMG_4539

When we got back home, we hung some more things up in the basement and then I got ready to leave for my dinner date with Laura and B.

We met up at Melt and I have been wanting to try their Greek salad since the first time I was there, and so I finally ordered it. Check out the presentation! The toppings along with some pasta salad come in a mason jar in the middle of the bowl. So cool. It was delicious!!!

IMG_4543

We chatted for awhile and had a great time. After dinner I came home and started a new book, number 19 in the series and went to bed around 11 pm (like a bad-ass) while the boys were playing games in the basement.

Sunday we did our meal planning and grocery shopping. We also hung out with my sister in law for a little bit. In the afternoon we watched some movies on TV. We haven’t done that in forever! We watched part of the last Matrix, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, and American Pie Wedding. It was fabulous!

And like that, the weekend had come and gone and I didn’t get nearly as much done as I wanted to! You know, like fix my header, get some posts typed up, read more of my book, get some organizing done. Such is life, am I right? I hope everyone has a great week! Unlike most of you, I have to work today 🙁 The real estate world does not care about MLK day. Boo!

A New Look and Weekend Shenanigans

Well hey there friends! Perhaps you noticed that things have changed a bit around these parts!? I am still working on changing the profile pic/blurb, maybe adding a new button, and things like that but I think this was a good start! (PS- I know there are two i’s in the word life, I need to get it fixed!)

I had been itching for several months to change up the layout and I finally sat down Sunday morning and made myself do it! I love the new social media icons and the Instagram plugin that runs along the bottom! Which reminds me…Are we following each other on social media? We need to be! If I see anyone adding me, I will add back. I sort of dropped the ball on adding some people when I started following their blogs.

This weekend was a good one! Friday night we kept it chill and stayed in. We caught up on some shows that started back this week. Who else is excited to have new episodes?!

Saturday morning I cleaned the house and then we headed out to run some errands. We weren’t really sure what we wanted for lunch so we headed to our usual spot, World of Beer! Duh! I know what you are thinking…Nadine you are on a 21 day detox cleanse. Yeah, about that. It wasn’t working for me. I decided to change it up and am just going to use my plate to track calories and allow one or two fun meals on the weekend. That was my main problem anyways. I ate pretty damn well during the week, I just needed a portion wake up call and tracking is the best way to keep that in check!

Saturday was also the five year anniversary of the day we met! It’s hard to believe it has already been five years…yet I can’t believe it has only been five years because I feel like I have known Chris forever. Look at how young we were! (sorry for the blurry image, this was taken with the original iPhone or something back in 2010!)

Sunday was all about getting stuff done for the blog, MCB, and meal planning. I woke up around 6:00 am and hit the ground running. I got things put into my planner, some post ideas started, catching up on emails, this new template installed, etc. I just love when I am productive early on in the day! It makes being lazy later quite OK in my book!

Other happies for the weekend would be my nephew Christopher scoring 3 points in his first basketball game!! His team won 12 – 11!!!! I can’t wait to go some of his games this season.

And my sister sent me this picture of Cooper with the caption, “Just chillin'”

IMG_4496

Chillin’ indeed. He is so darn adorable. Look at him rocking that hat. And those shoes, he is real specific about his shoes. My sister is going to have her hands full with this one!!!

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Let’s take on Monday and make it our bitch!

Weekend Shananigans

Well friends, I hope everyone had a great first weekend of 2015! I treated the weekend like my one last great hurrah before really buckling down on my eating again. Because you cant start a re-set mid-week, am I right?!

Friday – Chris had to work in the morning, so I had caught up on some blogging things, cut Mac’s fur, worked out to my new Just Dance game for the Xbox One (so much fun!!!!) and then got ready to head out for the afternoon. Chris and I went to lunch with a friend at Charlie’s Pub in Hoover. I ordered a hamburger and fries but didn’t take any photos. It wasn’t really that memorable, but glad we tried it once. I am quite a bit of a burger snob these days, so I am sure it was great by most standards.

Friday evening I made Pork Medallions with Pancetta and Fennel for dinner. This is something I only make once or twice a year because it is a lot of work but it is one of our favorite meals! I will be sharing the recipe later this week!

IMG_4462

Saturday – I cleaned the house in the morning, read a lot of my book in the afternoon, played some 3D Mario World on the Wii U and just relaxed. Sometimes the weekends where you have no plans are the best weekends!!!

I also got lots of play time in with Gracie and Mac. Look at Gracie just going to town on her toy. She still has some puppy left in her!!!

IMG_4463

Sunday – I finished my book (#17 out of 21 in the series) and started #18, then we meal planned and grocery shopped. I worked on some bloggy things in the afternoon and hit up the semi-annual sale at VS via the internet. For dinner I made homemade Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and it was delicious! I will share this recipe as well!

IMG_4470

While I hate to have the holidays officially ended now, and all that time off has come and gone…it will be nice to get back on a routine. To be honest, allowing myself to be super lax with my diet this weekend was fun at the time but has made me feel sluggish. I am fully prepared to take on my new challenges and will be sharing those with you. Jillian kicked my ass this morning, as per the usual. I only have ten days left of the 30 day shred and I am really REALLY sick of it. I am not sure what I will do once I am done. What is your current work out routine?

I am sure this week is going to feel like the longest week ever because we haven’t worked a full week in quite some time! I hope everyone has a great one! Let’s make 2015 our bitch!

Weekend Shenanigans

It’s the week of Christmas!!!!!  I’ve been a little scarce around these parts lately. Let’s take a look at what I have been up to!

Thursday night we hosted the Magic City Bloggers Food Drive at World of Beer. We had a great turn out and there were lots and lots of cans donated to the Firehouse Shelter!!! Here are a few of the girls….
image

Friday evening we ordered Chinese food and stayed in. We watched Home Alone 🙂

image

Saturday – We finished up our Christmas shopping, had lunch at Cantina Laredo in Uptown and spent the evening watching Home Alone 2 and Harold and Kumar’s Christmas. Also, some weird Hot Tub Time Machine movie that was oddly rather tolerable and border line good, despite the weird name and concept.

image

Sunday – I woke up super early and wrapped all of the presents. When Chris got up, we decided to head out early to do our grocery shopping. When we got to the Pinnacle we realized some shops had opened early and Belk was giving away $10 gift cards to the first 300 people in the door. Score! We picked up some stuff for Chris, then headed to Best Buy. We got the Nintendo Amiibo’s (Chris chose Yoshi and I got Peach) then we proceeded to Target where we spend way too much money. As always.

That afternoon I made flat bread pizza’s and we also had homemade hot chocolate. (Not together, because ewe.)

image

My sister sent me a picture of Maggie and Molly with the caption “Jealous?” Bitch!!! How dare she visit the puppies without me! I mean, look how freaking cute these two are…

image

I might have puppy fever after seeing that picture!!!

In other news, I got the iPhone 6 Plus last Wednesday. I haven’t really had the chance to actually play with it yet, hence why there was no post on Friday. I didn’t have WordPress set up to import my pictures and what kind of Friday Favorites post can you have with no pictures? I am also super behind on my own Instagram challenge because I fail at life. Prepare for Barbie overload this week.

Who else is super excited about two short work weeks in a row? The last few months have been crazy, and honestly…I am looking forward to a little break to rejuvenate and relax. We stay in state for Christmas, luckily both of our immediate families live in Alabama. There might be a 30 minute to hour drive between some houses…but I am thankful for the closeness.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and even though it is Monday….I think it is going to be a quick day 🙂
