Weekend Shenanigans – The One I Got Crafty & TBB ASKS

So who else wishes the halftime show never ended?!?! Gosh I love Justin Timberlake!!!! I am also thrilled that the Eagles beat the cheaters!!!! The only commercial that was memorable for me was the M&M commercial with the lucky penny. I found myself not even paying attention to them after awhile. They all kind of sucked. What was your favorite? Maybe I missed it and need to go watch it on YouTube.

Anyways, this weekend was pretty fun! I kicked off Friday with a Butterscotch Frappucino from Starbucks. My all time favorite drink! I am only allowing myself one of those suckers because it is like 61 grams of sugar or something insane. It was delicious and totally worth it. For lunch, I headed to Whole Foods and grabbed some Spicy Midnight Tuna. Sooooooo good!

We had some Italian Chicken Sausage with peppers, onions and potatoes for dinner that evening. Keeping it healthy.

Saturday we were up and out early to meet with with Laura and her boys at Target! We had to buy a new vacuum cleaner and clearly some wine was needed for the day! After that, Chris and B left us with the kiddos and we went to Home Depots and Michaels to gather all the supplies for our crafting day. I am proud to say that we found everything on our own in Home Depot and we managed to run through all the stores with only one minor breakdown from Zoe. She was upset that I took a piece of trash out of her hand that she picked up in line at Target. Gotta love that. How adorable are these two?

That last picture is Zoe walking around her grandparents house yesterday looking for her Memom who wasn’t home.

When we got back to my house, we got the kids fed and down for their naps. We immediately poured glasses of wine to reward ourselves for a mom win…and then set out to bake the cookies and make our marble trays! The kiddos decorated the cookies after they woke up from their nap. We made Valentine’s Day cookies and Mardi Gras ones! I think they turned out so good, and so did the trays!

We had a lot of fun crafting while listening to the 90’s pop station. That night for dinner, Chris picked up food from Landmark. I had a delicious burger, half an order of fries and I stole one of Chris’s chicken tenders. Everything was so good! As always.

Sunday we got our grocery shopping done, dropped off the computer Chris built for his dad and got home just in time for the Super Bowl. I made zucchini pizza bites for Chris, and I just snacked on some chips and salsa.

I almost forgot I already had the TBB Asks in my drafts for today. This is why keeping up with a planner would come in handy for me!

1. Kisses or Hugs?
I am a hugger.
2. Candy or Flowers?
Candy
3. Baking or Cooking?
I rarely bake at home because I don’t want the temptation all over the house. I cook at least 5-6 days per week. But I think baking is more fun!
4. Do you remember your first kiss?
Yes. It was with a boy named Mike the summer after my senior year of high school. This boy Kyle kissed me on the bus my last day of 8th grade, but I didn’t kiss him back. So it didn’t count, right?
5. Favorite color of Roses?
Pink
6. Conversation Hearts, yes or no?
YES!!! Most years I usually get one tiny box to treat myself.
7. Do you leave love notes?
I used to leave random notes in Chris’s lunch box.
8. Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day?
Some years I might stick out a little thing or two. This year we dont have anything out. I think started next year, I will decorate for more of the smaller holidays to make them fun for Zoe.
9. Red or Pink?
Pink
10. Milk, White or Dark Chocolate?
Milk and white chocolate are my favorite. I only like dark chocolate if it is filled with caramel. And even then, I prefer milk chocolate.
11.  Do you believe in love at first sight?
Not exactly. I believe in lust at first sight.
12. Do you give Humorous or Serious Valentine Cards?
To Chris, serious. To a gal pal or friend, humorous.
13. Favorite Chick Flick or Romantic Movie?
Hmm this is hard because romantic comedies are my favorite kind of movie! I really like Crazy Stupid Love, Friends With Benefits, Just Go With It, The Sweetest Thing, Ten Things I Hate About You, Drive Me Crazy…the list goes on and on and on!
14. Stay In or Go Out?
Stay in. I hate going out for Valentine’s Day. It is always so crowded and impersonal. And way over priced. I have made lasagna every year we have been together for Valentine’s Day.

We had a lot of fun this weekend! Cant believe the first one for February is already in the books. Valentine’s Day is next week! Crazy! Linking up with Biana. I hope you all had a great weekend!

Weekend Shenanigans

Hey there day 29 of Whole 30!!! One more day you guys!!! ONE MORE DAY! Honestly, I was thinking that February 1st was the day I could have coffee creamer again, but I was watching Amy’s Instastories yesterday and she said something about Wednesday and I was like ohhhhh that’s right!!!! It is a 30 day challenge. I dont have to follow the rules of the whole month. Haha. It’s the little things, am I right? Even though I do plan to have a delicious lunch with Laura later this week and finally order my most coveted drink of all the Starbucks drinks this week (BUTTERSCOTCH!!!!!!), I plan to continue on with paleo eating 90% of the time. Or at least for now, anyways. I feel amazing right now and I would like to continue to feel this way.

Anyways, this weekend was pretty low key. We didn’t have any plans, and besides grocery shopping yesterday….we didn’t even leave the house all weekend. I did finish a book in two days, rare for me these days! It is the new book, The Beau and The Belle by RS Grey. It was so cute!!! It is on pre-sale now, and comes out February 1st!!!! I will have my full review up for the Show Us Your Books link up.

Chris and I played a few spirited rounds of Mario Kart. He kicked my ass.

Zoe looked like a ballerina all day Saturday in her pink tutu dress. My mom got it for her for Christmas, and it is on major sale at Old Navy right now!!!!

Of course, there was some delicious Whole30 eats too! This is chicken andouille sausage with peppers, potatoes and onions. It is a new favorite for Chris and he wants it to be our Friday thing from now on. I can get on board with that since it is both delicious and healthy!

And that was basically our weekend! I deep cleaned our master bathroom and cleaned the floors. Reorganized our pantry and the cabinet under the sink. I want to reorganize the rest of my kitchen too, but that will have to be another weekend!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Do you have any big plans coming up in February? Linking up with Biana.

Weekending

I cant believe we are heading in to the last full week of January. Seems crazy!

This weekend was pretty low key. Chris had some errands he needed to run with his dad on Saturday, so Zoe and I had a little girls day out. After being cooped up in the house all last week, I wanted to get us both out somewhere. We went to Trader Joe’s to do most of our grocery shopping this week. After that, we walked around The Summit a little since it was so beautiful outside. It was Zoe’s lunch time, so we headed to Urban Cookhouse for lunch. I ordered the berry salad and Zoe got the grilled cheese with a side of fruit. Girlfriend loves her fruit and every last bite of it was gone before she even stared on her sandwich.

After Zoe went to bed that night, I finished reading my book and cleaned up around the house a little. Chris and I played a round of Mario Kart and I promptly passed out there after.

Sunday we headed out to Target and Best Buy, and spent the rest of the day lounging around the house. We caught up on a few of our shows and watched another episode of Blue Bloods. We decided we really like that one.

Zoe woke up with some cold symptoms and I am still trying to decide if I want to take her to the doctor today or not. I feel like it is a decision I have to make about every two weeks lately. Dirty daycare babies.

There are only nine more days left of my Whole 30!!!! I am feeling damn good and most of my cravings have subsided. I can tell that my pants fit better and I have more energy. I am trying to decide what I want to do once Whole 30 is over. I want to maintain my weight loss and continue on, but I also want to enjoy my life and have some coffee creamer. The balance struggle is real, am I right?! Are you doing any diet/fitness challenges for February? Let me know, I could use some inspiration.

Linking up with Biana. Hope you have a wonderful week.

Weekend Shenanigans

Honestly, there weren’t a ton of shenanigans this weekend. Anyone terrified of catching the flu??? Zoe got her flu shot back in the fall, but since it seems to be worthless with the strands going around…we kept our happy healthy asses at home much of this weekend. The little bit we did venture out to get grocery shopping done looked like this…

It was balls cold all weekend anyways. We did get a lot done around the house! And by we, I really mean Chris. He had fun on some trees with his new chain saw and cleaned up some stuff in the man cave. I organized more of the pantry but am still piddling in there. I did help him carry the branches down to the curb sooooo there is that. It is hard to get things done with a very mobile one year old!

I am now half way through my month of Whole 30. I was starting to think that my clothes weren’t really fitting any better, but when I was cleaning out some stuff in our closet the other day….I decided to put on a pair of jeans I haven’t reached for since the very beginning of 2016. I thought, let’s just see how much more work I have to do to get these things buttoned. And you guys…..they slid right up, zipped and buttoned. I did a huge happy dance, promptly ran downstairs to show Chris and then text a picture to my ahole bros group. While I still have a ways to go toning up….that was all the motivation I needed to sore through the rest of this month!

Here is a look at my eats the last few days…

Chris and I caught up on a few of our shows that have come back from break and I got a little reading time in. And just like that, our weekend was over! Zoe’s daycare is closed today but my office is not. Work from home it is! I already have Mexican Chicken Soup cooking in the crockpot, got in a short workout and have started work for the day and its only going on 6am. Winning!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Linking up with Biana.

about me, weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans and TBB Asks

This weekend we didn’t really do a whole lot. Zoe came home with a fever Thursday night. It only took the kids in her new class three days to take her down with their grossness. I worked from home and took her to the doctor Friday. The only time her and I left the house this weekend was yesterday to go grocery shopping and meet up with her grandparents for lunch.

I have been staying strong with Whole30. The hardest thing for me is no creamer in the coffee in the mornings. I really enjoy my coffee time and it has sucked this past week and not been special at all. I just chug it down for the caffeine. I know I will at least add the creamer back on February 1st because life is too short to not enjoy your coffee!

Truth is, I cheated midweek. You aren’t supposed to weigh yourself during the 30 days, but I just wanted to see that I made some progress to give myself some motivation to keep going strong. I hopped on that scale and realized I was down 4 pounds in just a few days. Ummm ok!!! I will keep going! No problem!

I love linking up with Andrea and the ladies from TBB Asks each month to answer some fun questions. These posts are some of my favorite to read as well, I feel like I always learn something new about you!

1. Resolutions or No Resolutions?

I mentioned before, but I don’t really do resolutions. I usually have something in mind that I want to work on for the year, but don’t set specific goals. It is almost always my health. Constant work in progress over here.

2. Love snow or No Snow?

Love love love love love snow!!! Unfortunately, here in Alabama we don’t get to see it often. We can go years without it. We were blessed with one beautiful snow day already this year though! I should edit to say, I love it just as long as there aren’t ice issues. That shit is scary and I think we all remember Snowpocalypse in the south from a few years ago.

3. Name a New Place you want to go this year?

I am not sure there is going to be any major traveling this year with a one year old. Chris and I do have  a bucket list of a few places that we want to go to though and I hope to make it a reality over the next several years.

We are all about taking advantage of what is within driving distance to us here in Birmingham though. Atlanta and Chattanooga are just two hours away. Nashville is about three hours. The beach is four hours, Gatlinburg is five hours. And we do like to go to Huntsville, which is just an hour. So hope to add a few day/weekend trips!

4. Would you rather have a new Hair cut or Hair color?

Color. I like to keep my hair long (or as long as the fine, stringy mess will let me), but get my hair colored at least twice a year.

5. Name one special thing you want to do for yourself this year?

My health took a backseat last year while I tried to find my way as a new mom. I guess I can say I sort of let myself go. I swore before I had a baby that I wouldn’t be that person who completely loses who she is just because she is a mom. I am working on getting back Nadine this year, and still being an awesome mom in the process.

6. Least Favorite thing about January?

I get the blues that the holidays are over. And that the month is filled with full work weeks. LOL

7. Most Favorite thing about January?

The clean slate feeling that the first of the year brings, and getting my house back in order after the holidays.

8. When do you take down your Holiday decorations?

I try to have them down by January 1st. If not then, by the next weekend for sure.

9. Do you diet in January?

The last three years I have done Whole30 in January. Even before that, I can remember making a conscience effort to eat better and detox after all the holiday splurges and treats.

10. What area of your home do you want to organize the most?

The entire thing! Honestly, we hope to put our house on the market sometime this year and move. So I am working on staging and making the house look awesome for potential buyers. But also keeping in mind my goals for a new home with whatever I buy to organize and stage, because I want to invest in things we love.

11. Favorite Winter Comfort Food?

I love savory foods in the winter time. I make a pot a soup just about weekly, usually for lunches but also dinner often too. So I guess soup?

12. Favorite Guilty Pleasure

Definitely a good Netflix binge!! I also find myself reading a lot of cheesy Christmas Romances in the winter. Though, I have to be honest and tell you that I never feel guilty about anything that brings me pleasure or joy. You shouldn’t either!

How would you have answered some of these questions??

I hope all my friends in the ATL stay safe today! I know you are supposed to be getting some possible road compromising winter weather. It is pouring here, but 36 degrees and *hopefully* no ice for us! We had been below freezing for so long, I had to remind myself a few times I was in Alabama and not Pennsylvania! I hope you all stay warm and have a fabulous week! I am double dipping and linking up with Biana too for Weekending!
