Reading: I am a little more than half way through Magnolia Story. I really love Fixer Upper and have been enjoying getting to know about Chip and Jo a little more. I am easing back in to my reading game. I haven’t read a book since the end of November!
Watching: After I finished Gilmore Girls, I watched the first season of One Day at a Time on Netflix. It was cute. Nothing amazing or mind blowing, but it passed the time just fine. Now I am watching Last Man Standing. I had never seen it before and I like that it reminds me a little of Home Improvement with Tim Allen only there are three girls instead of three boys. The show is light and has its funny moments. Sometimes I just like light, fluffy sitcoms that don’t make me think or keep me in suspense.
Oh, and it didn’t hurt to have a surprise appearance from JTT!!! Middle school me squealed when he came on my screen!
Eating: Now that Whole 30 is over, I am going to be practicing 90/10 as well as I can. This weeks dinners are taco bowls, korean beef with stir fry veggies, braised pork chops and roasted potatoes, bbq chicken over sweet potatoes and kung pao chicken with stir fry veggies.
Working Out: So yeah, I have all the want to work out and none of the will to actually make it happen yet. Since I am easing back into work this week, I decided to give myself a few days to get a routine going. As much of a routine as one can have with an 8 week old! Am I right?
Quoting:
Enjoying: The fact that it is a little lighter a little longer in the evenings, and a little brighter a little earlier in the mornings! I love winter, it is my favorite season….but I hate how short the days are! Now that they are shifting to be longer again, it makes me feel like I have a little more time. Anything I need to tell myself, right?
Excited: For the weekend!!! I hate that I am back to the weekend mentality now that I am working again. It is just really exhausting during the week to work, get all the things done, care for a human, care for a dog and have five minutes maybe every other day to shower. I am not sure what our plans are yet, but there is just something great about Saturdays and Sundays knowing that you don’t really have to do anything. Well, other than grocery shopping!

Its kind of sad how we all live for those weekends when we’re working ladies.
That comment about the character in the mirror – YESSSSSSS
Magnolia Story is high on my list of books to read! I chose it for book club for March, I think. Can’t wait! They seem so sweet and down to earth.
Don’t beat yourself up too much about the working out thing. It’s really hard working FT and taking care of a little one at the same time. Do your best and know that it’s good enough!
Chip and Jojo are seriously the cutest, and I can’t wait to read their book! My husband loves Last Man Standing too, and I think the main reason why is because it’s so much like Home Improvement. I hope that you have a nice and relaxing weekend and ease back into your routine!
I’ve caught parts of episodes of Last Man Standing, and it always looked funny, but I’ve never thought to actually sit down and watch it– good to know it’s on Netflix because I know what you mean about just wanting something light and easy to watch. How deep is that quote on character vs appearance?!
Oh, the weekends, I love them. B and I happened upon an old episode of Home Improvement on it, and I loved watching Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson, the original boy mom!! It was fun to see that people can totally be those kinds of awesome parents. AND meh to the working out — it’ll come back to ya, and when it does, at least you’ll be good and ready.
I <3 Magnolia Story, you already know that! I LOLed so hard at the taco cat, that's my life in a nutshell.
i had no desire to watch that show but JTT?! now i want to. be still my 10 year old heart. haha.
you got a lot going on, you deserve some low key weekends!
JTT- hahaha! I used to have a poster of him on my walls as a kid! What’s 90/10? I live for weekends too, and unplanned ones are the best! Hope the next day and a half go quickly for you!
You’ve nearly survived your first week back! Everything will fall into place with the exercise and all. You’re doing great!
So many people just did Whole 30! I saw some awesome recipes on instagram this month!!!!!!! Good luck on being back! I’m sure that is an adjustment, I can only imagine considering how hard it is to go to work even without a little wiggly one at home 🙂
Ohh that’s a good quote. If only!
Hope your first week back was smooth! I think I could do 90/10. Weekends are a free-for-all around here. I’ve decided at least to stop drinking during the week… not even a glass of wine!
I need to add Magnolia Story to my read list, I’ve been seeing it floating around. I hope your first week back at work has been as smooth as it can be and you can find balance with all of the roles you play mom/wife/employee etc. The weekend will be a good break for you to enjoy all of Zoe again. 🙂
I noticed last night how it was still light out when I was leaving work and I did a little happy dance!! Hope you have a great weekend girl! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston
I think it’s actually so important to live for the weekends, because I heard one time having something to look forward to is one of the most precious things in life and I’d have to agree wholeheartedly! Glad you made it through this week sweet friend and I hope it’s a super sweet weekend!
Whenever I read about new mommys going back to work in America, I will say that it makes me realize Australian parents have it SO much better. By LAW, if you’re a full-time employee with an employer for over 12 months, then as a primary caregiver of a newborn, you are entitled to 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Also, a parent can have up to 12 months time off (without pay after the 18 weeks) without penalty. If an employer penalizes that employee or doesn’t hold her job for her, then the employer can be sued.
Your weekly dinners sound delicious…I’ve been trying to be more prepared for dinners…it’s the last thing I want to do after a long work day. I hope your first week back went well…I commend you for all you do. Have a great rest of the weekend!
Why do your weekly meal plans always sound SO DAMN GOOD! Come cook for me, mama! I didn’t realize you were back to work already 🙁 Sorry I’ve been MIA in blogland! I’m with you on the mirror/character thing. Especially these days.
Chip and Jo are my favorite couple on TV! I love how they’re able to work together and raise a (large) family together and they’re REAL. Really wanting to read that book soon as I finish all the other books I’ve got waiting in the wings. Lol.
And omg JTT! I will watch that show just to see his face again! *swoon*
As for working out, I’ve been slowly getting back into it this month. You shouldn’t be too hard on yourself for not having the motivation to get up and do it. Life after baby is HARD. I didn’t start really working out until last year. My “baby” is almost 8-years-old. Lol. Seriously though, the baby weight will shed eventually because you’ll be so busy running after a toddler soon that you won’t even notice. Not to mention constantly lifting that car seat!
My husband has seen every episode of Last Man Standing. Lol. He loves that show!
Hope you had a fantastic weekend!
Roger on Ace, AJ & Jimmy. Great goin1#82&7; there.OK on the light. You are correct. I do have an immediate streetlight from dusk till dawn. My lady is an Army nurse who also served in Nam… Vung Tau [we met at Fort Polk, LA] .
