We all have our happy place. The place where all is right in the world. The place where you can clear your mind and just enjoy life. The place that brings a smile to your face. The place whose beauty you never take for granted. For me, that place is the beach.
Atlantic Ocean, Georgia
Growing up in Pennsylvania with not a lot of money to take big vacations, the beach was just a place I saw on TV or in pictures from my friends. The ocean was just a picture, the sound of waves something I only heard when I put my ear up to this huge shell my grandmother had at her house. The first time I ever saw the ocean was when I was in high school, after we moved to Georgia where the ocean was about five hours away.
My first experience was at Savannah and Tybee Island.

I will never forget the first time I stepped out onto the beach and felt my sad under my feet as I walked towards the waves crashing in. It sounds cliche, like the song, but it is amazing how small you feel standing next to the ocean. How truly beautiful and amazing it all really is.
I fell in love with the beach and the ocean on that trip, and my love for it has only grown stronger over the years. There have been several beach trips since then. My mom and I took a trip to Orange Beach on summer when I was in college, just the two of us. We had such an amazing time. I remember laying on the beach with her, dreaming about how one day we wanted to own one of the houses down there and we could visit as often as we liked.
One summer, I went to Destin and Panama City with some friends. We spent all of our days beach side and all of our nights scoping out the cool restaurants in the area, listening to Matt Nathanson in the car as we drove around. Every time I hear a song off that album, I am instantly calmed by thoughts of the beach.
Perfecting beach selfies before selfies were a thing.
Chris and I try to visit Gulf Shores Alabama every summer….at least once.
Yup. The beach is my happy place. I love to just get away for a few days, hear the waves crashing in, watch the sun rise, and sit in the pool and think about absolutely nothing,
Where is your happy place?

Oh the beach is totally my happy place as well! What I wouldn’t give to live by the beach, or own a vacation home on the beach someday!
Destin is on my vacation destination list… someday it’ll happen!!
I guess I take the beach for granted because I live near-ish one but it’s gross and I never want to go there! I love your feelings for it, though. I love Vegas so, so much. It just makes me happy to be surrounded by so much to see and do and take in. I need to go back!
Im pretty sure I stayed in that condo in one of your pics LOL The yellow one.
I love the beach!!!
I have never been a beach person. I’m more of a river or lake girl. Who am I kidding, I’m a Lake Martin girl. But, I’ve definitely come to appreciate the beach, especially the seafood.
The beach is absolutely my happy place too, well anything with water. I live on Perdido Bay about {25 min from Gulf Shores}. I couldn’t image living anywhere else. The Sun, Sea, & Sand have my heart too! Great Pictures here! Let me know when you are in for the weekend or something and maybe we can grab coffee.

LOVE all of your beach photos! My happy place is definitely very similar. I’d have to say it’s at my family’s lake house. The perfect place to sit back and relax with my favorite people :).
I really want to go to Savannah sometime. I went to Hilton Head, NC and it was pretty awesome, so I can only imagine Savannah is even cuter
I am obsessed with the beach now and grew up a beach baby but for a brief time in middle school I was anti. I think I hated getting sandy? It was strange.
I’m my best self beside the sea. I’ve been going at least twice a year since I was born and I’m 37 now.

I would be happiest at the beach or in a cabin in the woods. Is that weird?! Oh well. I love being in nature.
Well my happy place is the beach, I’m sure you’re completely surprised.
I grew up in Michigan and our first beach trip was to Myrtle Beach when I was about 13, like you I feel in love with the sand and the waves that day. More land locked people should find their way to an ocean, they have no idea what they’re missing!
I 100% agree with you girl! The beach is my happy place too! Especially growing up in Boston whenever I got to come down and head to Siesta Key I was automatically in my happy place!
oh, definitely beach is one of my happy places. toronto has a beach but it’s not really nice; it has sand and a nice polluted lake yay!
Love this post. The beach is the absolute best. Fruity cocktails, floppy hats and seafood. Yes, even a floppy hat for you! Sign me up
I love that you and Chris have the Gulf Shores tradition… so cute! 🙂 I love the ocean, too… unfortunately in MI we don’t have easy access to it, so, I usually only get near it once in a blue moon when I’m on vacation. I think my ultimate happy place would have to be my childhood home though… something about the country just makes me feel ME. 🙂
That white sand just looks heavenly! I dont know what my happy place is really but I think it would pretty much look like Greece.
What a wonderful Happy place!
I think mine is in Minnewaska.. where we hike. I just feel wonderful there…
My happy place too! This post makes me want to pack my bags and head South!
