And just like that, February is more than half over! Is anyone else just as confused as I am as to how that is even possible?
Friday- This past week, the state of Alabama has sat and watched the weather predictions unfold for possible winter weather troubles Sunday night into Monday morning and again possibly Tuesday. While the predictions have changed several times, as they always do in the south…everyone and their mother is out buying bread and milk. I decided to get ahead of the game and do our grocery shopping Friday night instead of waiting until Sunday when we usually go for fear there would be nothing left. Of course, it now looks like it may just be a cold rain today.
When I finally got home, I made chicken enchiladas and we caught up on some of our shows like the cool kids tend to do Friday evenings.
Saturday – We were up bright and early and headed to Gadsden for some thrift shopping and to check out Dirt Cheap. We had a dry run and didn’t find a thing. We then headed to Chris’s parents house to celebrate his grandmother’s birthday. His parents ordered Moe’s BBQ and his brother came up from Mobile with two of our nieces so everyone was there. It was great to spend some family time.
Saturday evening I made homemade lasagna for Valentine’s Day. As I have shared before, this is our tradition every year and I love it!
Sunday we stayed in. I worked on the MCB site for a little while (one of my creative goals for this month), scheduled a few posts and then went downstairs and played video games with Chris.
In the afternoon we caught up on some more TV shows and watched The Interview. The movie was a little dumb, but not horrible. We also watched the SNL special last night! I really enjoyed that!
Weekend Eats:
Chicken Salad Chick for lunch Friday. I ordered the Fancy Nancy Scoop that has grapes and apples as well as the pasta salad and fruit. Each dish comes with a pickle and cookie. She asked if I wanted to upgrade my cookie for a cream cheese brownie. Why yes, yes I do. And below is the lasagna before it was devoured over the course of the weekend.
I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend! Stay warm to those north of us who will be getting our snow. I am not going to lie when I say I was looking forward to a snow day….sigh.

Aw that’s adorable that you make lasagna every year! I also can’t believe it’s halfway through February already! Ahh!
We watched a little of the SNL special last night and there were some parts were so funny and others sort of fell flat! Sounds like you had a great weekend and even though they are just predicting rain now at least you got ahead of the crowds and got your food early! Hope you have a great Monday!! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston
Lasagna for Valentines is the best tradition! So delish and totally beats trying to fight the crowds to eat out!
I am DYING now that you pointed out we are halfway through February… how is that possible?!
Chicken Salad Chick for the win! My favorite is the one with buffalo sauce, ranch and bacon. Noms.
I need to make homemade lasagna at least one time in my life. That looks seriously freaking delicious!! Your weekend sounds like it was a good one!
I hope your weather is not to bad… THe lasagna looks so yummy!!
Happy Monday!! I just found your blog on the link up 🙂 Chelsae@thewilliamsjourney1.blogspot.com
We totally missed out on the SNL special, I wasn’t sure when it was supposed to be on! But I was watching Downton anyway. Hopefully we can catch clips of it online! Your lasagna looks so yummy!!
Ha I looked at my calendar today and thought how can the month be almost over on the 16, dumb short months!
You food pictures always make my mouth water!!
I am not looking forward to the 3-6 inches we’re supposed to be getting to coincide with morning rush hour tomorrow. Blah.
Dry run, blah. Lasagna, hurrah!
Sounds like a fun and relaxing weekend!! Is it Thursday yet?! 🙂
I think Lasagna at home sounds perfect. Better to be prepared and get groceries out of the way then running out. I think we took all your snow! Haha!
I also loved the SNL special! Especially the Jeopardy re-do. Whore Ads for 200!
I really enjoyed the SNL special. Except the Kanye part. That was unnecessary.
And, for the record, all the cool kids DO stay in on Fridays and binge watch. We were coerced into going out and let me tell you, binge watching is exponentially better. It’s how I prefer my Fridays. Saturdays, too.
That lasagna looks delicious! And also that brownie!!?! I think I’m ready to try chicken salad again, soooo lunch date soon? Looks like you had an awesome weekend!
That ecard is everything… Totally me! And all that food looks delish!
Oh girl your lasagna looks so delicious! Stinks you didn’t find anything thrifting, but you’ve had some pretty good ones recently. That eCard is spot on except with tea, lol. Who even makes decaf anything unless it’s nine o’clock at night! It’s going to be July 4th before we know it!
it snowed pretty bad here on monday morning so we actually got the day off, woo. but normally, like you it changes so much and is never as bad as they say it is going to be. but we always do our grocery shopping on sunday too so we didn’t even venture out this weekend – just went to walgreens and bought milk there haha. everyone else freaks out – must buy milk and bread! your homemade lasagna looks AMAZING.
I will probably end up watching The Interview just because of all the BS about it. I know I won’t like it – I’m not a fan of over the top comedies, but, you know, freedom! Lol.
I was checking on my goal posts and thinking I was making great progress until I realized the month is half over. Then I realized I’ve done hardly anything! Got to get it in gear!
Year Lasagna is something I could get with. All of your eats look awesome as they always do! Sounds like a great weekend!
I like lasagna. Can I be your valentine next year?!?!
