weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans – First of October

Oh, hey there October!!! It is complete insanity to me that we woke up to Saturday to October 1st. I don’t even know how it is possible that this year is ten months in. Time is just flying. I cam to the realization this weekend that we have eight more baby free weekends left. What?? Well, that is assuming that she decides to come on or before my due date. Both excitement and panic came with that thought. I am so excited to finally meet her but I have a lot of stuff I need to get done around the house before then!

Speaking of getting stuff done, that was the name of my game this weekend! Friday night I came home, made a salad and relaxed for a little while because this past week was exhausting. All of a sudden the baby has me craving salads. Finally. I wasn’t mad about it.

Saturday morning I did the usual cleaning and Chris put together the crib!!! He seriously had this thing together in about 15 minutes, I was impressed.

Meanwhile, pay no attention to the wall color behind you. The more and more this paint dried, the more and more it looked light blue instead of gray. I am so pissed. Chris said that it looked blue to him the night we painted in there and I didn’t want to believe it but he is right. I don’t want a blue baby girl nursery, damnit. We are thinking about painting that damn room again. UGH! Lesson learned? Gray is a tricky ass color and next time I need to just consult with my BIL who is an expert in all things paint.

After all that cleaning and building, we decided to head downtown while we still have carefree weekends left! We visited an old friend, World of Beer. I ordered a non-alcoholic craft root beer and snacked on Tavern Taters while we watched some of the Georgia vs Tennessee game (ughhhhh what an ending right????) and the Auburn game.

Then we decided to head to Pies and Pints to visit a friend who was working there and it was their soft opening. This place is awesome and I cant wait to go back and try their pizza. I ordered a salad and Chris had wings. We sat out on the patio and caught the first half of the Alabama game.

Sunday morning we were up and out the door early to meet my dad and sister at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We celebrated my dads birthday and I had a hot chocolate, hashbrown casserole, cinnamon apples, bacon and biscuits because yummmm.

We had a great time visiting with my family. Cracker Barrel seriously has the cutest stuff in their stores! And so many baby things!! They even had a few cute boutique looking clothing items I wouldn’t mind picking up. We left from there fat and happy and headed to the grocery store to get that knocked out. When we got home, I meal prepped and then started gathering stuff to give to my sister to sale in her yard sale in two weeks. I had to stack it all in the nursery for now because I don’t know where else to put it.

img_0113

Most of this stuff came out of the other spare room which has been on my list to clean out forever so I felt super accomplished to have gotten such a start on it. That room is so overwhelming because everything piles up in there when it doesn’t have anywhere else to go and I want to make that room an office space for me so I need it all to go! I hope to have doubled that pile by next weekend!

The rest of Sunday was spent catching up on our TV shows and I got a few chapters of a book read. It’s hard to want to get anything done when you have a furry little man sitting in your lap begging for pets.Β Does Mac know how to spend a weekend or what?

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Linking up with Biana.

we went with a green for Kayla’s room when she was born to keep it “neutral”. I like the color you chose; it actually looks more gray in the pic but maybe that’s because i’m looking at it via computer.

Okay when you say 8 more baby free weekends that blows my mind – how is that even possible that time has flown by so fast?! I’m currently eating tater tots and yours look way better LOL! Happy Monday girl! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

The time is flying and stupid gray wall paint! Oh girl, but that crib sure is absolutely beautiful! I love the color of it! I love the whole experience at Cracker Barrel, it’s where we always go before we go to get our Christmas tree but I’m thinking I need to go before then with all the cute stuff I’m sure they have in the little shop part as well! I hope this week gets off to a splendid start for you!

I cannot believe that your baby girl is almost here. Time really does fly. Love the crib. Oh I haven’t been to Cracker Barrel in forever. They do have the cutest store. I wish we had one closer. I think the closest one is about 45 minutes for me and it is always packed!

Looks grey to me! Cracker Barrel is sooo good. I made my mom take me there a couple weeks ago when she was going to buy Halloween decor from the store.

You are the second person in the past few days to mention all of the cute things Cracker Barrel has, and I had no idea there was a store! Your food all looks so delicious. I always forget to put cheese on my salads and it always makes them a million times better!

Love the crib, that’s a big check on the list!

I always like looking around Cracker Barrel’s store.

All your food pictures are making my mouth water……. Those tavern taters (minus the jalapenos) and the wings and that hot chocolate. YUMMMMM!

  • Reply Rebecca Jo October 3, 2016 at 10:54 am

I can shop in Cracker barrel every time. They have the cutest Halloween stuff too!!!
Grey paint IS so hard. My husband worked in a paint factory for over 20 years so he can tell what ‘tints’ all the paints have. I always trust his eye on paints because it is sneaky. I dont get how its so different on the wall – how are you supposed to KNOW which ones to get? its all so hard.

I made myself some loaded tots at work on Saturday & seeing yours I thought ” damn I should’ve added jalapenos!” All of the food you got this weekend looks so delicious. Sorry about the room color. In the picture it doesn’t look blue. It looks more cream/gray to me. Chris did a great job on the crib. Hope you have an awesome week!

  • Reply Lauren @ Oh Hey! I Like That! October 3, 2016 at 12:52 pm

The crib is beautiful! And it’s always crazy to me how paint colors turn out differently once they’ve dried…someday I’ll tell you the story of the “pastel” pink room and became Pepto Bismol…

  • Reply chelsea jacobs October 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm

Okay I definitely need to get some tavern taters this week! So good!

  • Reply StephTheBookworm October 3, 2016 at 1:26 pm

Sounds like our spare rooms are very similar. Ours is a disaster zone just full of junk that has no other home. I’m slowly but surely trying to clean it out. I love to purge junk and it feels great to get started on that awful room!

  • Reply Cara October 3, 2016 at 1:50 pm

Ugh, yuck to paint not wanting to cooperate lol. And try not to stress about the baby free thing- once she gets here you’ll feel like your life wasn’t complete until she was part of it. πŸ™‚ Such a special time!

  • Reply Rach @ This Italian Family October 3, 2016 at 1:53 pm

Grey is SO tricky! We went with grey in our garage/workshop and it turned into a purply-grey after it dried. Definitely not the color we were going for, but that room is enormous and it’s really only seen by us. So we still (6 years later) haven’t gotten around to repainting it, haha! Hopefully you’ll come up with the perfect color if you do repaint!

Fun!!! yum, I haven’t had a root beer in forever. I love the crib and I really like the paint color actually~ it doesn’t look blue at all to me. You must be so excited!

  • Reply Amanda Elizabeth - Meet at the Barre October 3, 2016 at 2:57 pm

I really love the crib though! I don’t know what I’m going to do whenever I decide to ever paint walls. It always swatches one way and then completely different on the main wall am I right? Seriously SEC football was crazy this weekend! That Georgia/Tenn game was one for the books for sure!

  • Reply Erin LFF October 3, 2016 at 3:08 pm

I haven’t been to a Cracker Barrel in forever but now you have me wanting their breakfast AND to check out their gift shop! I remember always loving picking out candy or beany babies there when I was a kid- lol! I hope you get the paint situation figured out… paint is SO TRICKY AND FRUSTRATING at times!!

  • Reply mandie October 3, 2016 at 3:41 pm

I love the Baked Apples from Cracker Barrel! They are so delicious!

Awhoo hoo on getting the crib up & one step closer to having baby there! Eeek! πŸ™‚

  • Reply Lauren October 3, 2016 at 3:50 pm

The paint thing would kill me! And now I want baked apples. They’re healthy… ish…

  • Reply Kate @ Green Fashionista October 3, 2016 at 4:42 pm

As always all that food looks amazing and yum to craft root beer! Grays really are tricky to paint and either come out too beige or too blue. Baby girl’s room doesn’t look too blue though in that pic if it helps πŸ˜‰

  • Reply Lindsay October 3, 2016 at 8:17 pm

So I actually like the light blue for a girls room! It’s different! But I don’t blame you for wanting to repaint. We painted our living room twice last year because it dried like a light purple… gray is so freaking hard. Love the crib, too! So chic! Pies and Pints is awesome! I really like their pizza and the atmosphere is great. The end of the TN/GA game was AMAZING. Holy shit. Girl Cracker Barrel is the shit, though I had no idea about their hot chocolate! I could eat 20 of their biscuits and I’m obsessed with their hashbrown casserole! My niece is even obsessed with it. this weekend she said, “I want to go get pancakes at Cracker Barrel.” Teaching her right!

I love the color of your crib! Such a bummer the paint didnt turn out as expected though…I just love gray hues for bedrooms but blue isn’t probably ideal when you’re expecting a girl. Have you picked a name for her as yet? I’d be super impressed to crave salads during pregnancy!

  • Reply Robin October 3, 2016 at 9:43 pm

To be honest with you, I scroll to the bottom of the post to check out the Mac pics, then I read the post. πŸ™‚ Gray is tricky, it can look totally different in the store as opposed to when you have it at home (sort of like trying on jeans – am I right?).

  • Reply Jessica @ Pleas(e) & Carrots October 4, 2016 at 10:29 am

Cracker Barrel is the best! And omg I love your crib!

  • Reply Katie Elizabeth October 4, 2016 at 10:33 am

Yay for the crib set up!!! Getting so real now! And gray paint is soooo hard. I think we seriously tried 20 samples before deciding on BM’s Revere Pewter for most of our house!

  • Reply Laura October 4, 2016 at 11:27 am

Yay for getting the crib set up!!! That’s a huge check off the list! And OMG at all the food. Tavern Taters are always a winner, and those wings look so yummy!

  • Reply Ashley @ The Wandering Weekenders October 4, 2016 at 1:44 pm

As always, I just finished eating lunch and I’m hungry again after looking at all of the awesome food that you had this weekend! Those tots look so amazing! We have a World Of Beer near our house but we’ve never been before, so obviously I need to stop by soon! That sucks that your paint color turned out too blue, but hopefully the color will be perfect next time!

  • Reply Jennifer Massey October 4, 2016 at 2:59 pm

Ha! I got a convertible crib that looks almost exactly like that in a different stain. LOVED it. She’s since traded up to a new bedroom suite, but that crib lasted us for the first seven years or so, so you definitely get your mileage out of it.

  • Reply texerinsydney October 4, 2016 at 9:45 pm

Is that Catalina dressing on your salad? I used to love that salad dressing, and they don’t have that here. I even forgot it existed! Oh no! I think that means I’m overdue for a trip to America.

  • Reply TORI M October 5, 2016 at 12:01 pm

Gray is the HARDEST to find a good color. I have about 10 samples on my wall right now and I am having so much trouble because they look Blue! I did finally find a paint from Gliddan called Silver Cloud and that looks the grayest.Maybe trying the silver color route will work better for you!? Either way, if you find one that totally works, please let me/readers know because I am having the worst time!!

  • Reply kristen October 5, 2016 at 12:19 pm

I have never been to cracker barrel but i want to go for that hot chocolate now.
grey is the WORST. we painted our living room and hallway grey and it is gorgeous, and then we got a different colour for our bedroom which i’ve already told you how much i hate it. we *might* be selling our house soon (WTF) and need to paint a couple other rooms and i’m like ‘i’m not messing with this shit again, we are getting the EXACT same colour as the living room’. because f*ck that. i would definitely repaint, i wouldn’t want a blue nursery either.. not because she’s a girl, just because i don’t like blue walls hahahaha.
    LOVE the crib!

  • Reply Katy October 6, 2016 at 10:17 am

    Gimme. Those. Tots.

  • Reply Amy Getz October 9, 2016 at 9:42 pm

I am seriously so in awe of how freaking gorgeous that crib is . . . like I love it! And the damn gray walls . . . I hate that they turned out to be more blue – paint colors are tricky bitches. Can I tell you how much we love Cracker Barrel at our house? And I love to shop in their country store – I can always find a fun treasurer and their holiday stuff is the best! Sorry f
